Tonight William and Harry are delivering award in recognition of their mother in what seems to be a carefully choreographed event, that keeps them apart. But….
Today Meghan has announced her new ventures and whilst William is being centre stage, the Sussexes (?) have announced a large cash award from archewell.

Why? Do they not realise that people know that the timing is deliberate. Who is driving this spiteful behaviour. It’s all so unnecessary in my humble opinion.

I’ll retire behind settee now with my tin hat on awaiting the chorus of oh no not Meghan and Harry again!

The rift between the brothers has never been more obvious than it was last night, with Harry's video link being activated after William had left. It's tragic really, when we remember how close not just the brothers were, but how close Harry was to Catherine.

As for any attempts at 'one up man ship', H&M should know by now that they never succeed in overshadowing the RF. The thing about envy is that it destroys the very thing it covets.

Glorianny Fri 15-Mar-24 09:23:10

I don't know what Meghan has announced I don't know what awards W &H are presenting. It seems very odd to me that anyone should keep saying M&H should just fade away and yet keep constantly following their every move. The RF are an unnecessary anachronism, ignore them. If you don't like M&H ignore them as well. I can't help feeling that in some way these two couples provide some sort of belief system and meaning to people's lives, a bit like heaven and hell in religious systems. I don't need either of them.

And yet you post your wisdom on the subject on thread after thread? You have praised M&H while criticising W&C, especially Catherine, about whom you seem to know a great deal including her motivation for attending her university.

Charles and Diana were adulterers .

Only person who has said they were close to the late Queen was Harry,

William too suffered grief, his mother wrote of how he pushed tissues under her bathroom door when she was struggling with
depression, he has never spoken of this.

Are lies an error of judgement an error of judgement?

Choosing to lunch her new business selling jams and jellies etc
the same time as her late mother in laws charity was certainly no coincidence

Am I the only one to feel conned by Meghan?

I had such high hopes when they married and she seemed to be an amazing new addition to the RF. I was disappointed that they chose to cut and run because everything wasn’t going their way. Harry always knew there was a pecking order - surely he explained the system to her?

Now everything seems sullied by an underlying sly attempt at oneupmanship from across the pond while the RF carry on regardless. I wish the Sussexes were happier with their lot and didn’t feel the need to compete and come off second best - it all feels sad to me, and worse, I feel I’ve been had!

This is how I feel too.

Disappointed and yes, taken in.
Behind the facade was another persona.

I don't blame them at all for leaving to live in America but why the need for a constant oneupmanship?

Callistemon21 Fri 15-Mar-24 10:07:17

She either was not prepared sufficiently for life ahead or more to the point took no notice and thought she could change it all within no time

She was very well-prepared, Charleygirl despite what she claimed.
I think it is the latter.

Yet another pathetic thread denigrating Harry and Meghan. So boring and predictable, such venom. They can do no right, Saint Kate and William can do no wrong (although that may be changing....)

Actually, I see nothing but facts on this thread.

If you want to read criticism of Catherine and William, there are other threads.

Rosie51 Fri 15-Mar-24 10:21:40

Exactly.

The critics of Meghan and Harry at least use their preferred names, in contrast to the use of Kate for Catherine despite her stated preference.

We met some Americans on holiday who told us how lovely they thought it was that the then baby was called Lilibet. Once we explained the crass nature of this incredibly tactless, tasteless thing to do they were appalled.

I seem to remember Archie was George’s nickname before H&M’s son was born. 🤫

eazybee Fri 15-Mar-24 10:28:55

From Robert Hardman's book, either Charles 111, or Queen of our Times (unsure which one)

"When the Sussexes announced their daughter’s name, Lilibet, a row ensued over its usage and whether the Queen approved it or not. In his book, Hardman writes about the Queen’s reaction to her great granddaughter being named after her, as told to him by a member of the household.

“One [member of staff] privately recalled that Elizabeth II had been 'as angry as I'd ever seen her' in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter 'Lilibet', the Queen's childhood nickname."
I would believe Robert Hardman over Harry.

Cossy Fri 15-Mar-24 10:35:02

I find it incredulous that the same people who shun the media also believe everything printed when it suits their agenda!

Unless there are people on here who know ANY member of the RF personally I take everything I read about any of them with a pinch of salt.

Obviously once a book is published or an interview conducted this casts a different light on things.

The Duchess of Sussex has always cared about humanity, referenced by clips from videos when she was quite a young girl. The Duke of Sussex is still very active, where allowed, with anything attached to the services.

I think they are both damaged people, who’ve been very badly advised and are in a bad place. Whether this is entirely their fault is in some ways irrelevant.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, are humans, like the Sussexes, all of them have the same flaws we all do and make similar mistakes and have family feuds, just like the rest of us.

It’s really none of our business and frankly I wish them all well and hope, in time, they can heal their rift.

Thanks Cossy. I’ve made similar comments on these threads but ‘some posters’ seem to need to split - one couple good. The other couple bad. The RF has a long history of family rows disapproval and dysfunction - much like most of us,

Anniebach Fri 15-Mar-24 10:48:13

The Duchess of Sussex has always cared about humanity!
her blood family, her family by marriage?

She lies , fact , Harry lies fact, they are both vengeful, I do not have these flaws

Rosie51 Fri 15-Mar-24 10:49:31

Cossy it can't be mere coincidence that Harry and/or Meghan announce or launch something on exactly the same day that there is a "significant happening" involving others in the RF. A date that has been known about in advance. Once might be an unfortunate occurrence, but multiple times smacks of intent.

I think most people are saddened by the rift between two brothers who were once very close, but it remains that only one of them issues accusations and condemnation publicly. It is a very big bridge that will need building.

merlotgran Fri 15-Mar-24 10:50:28

Wherever there is conflict people tend to pick sides.

While we have a royal family it IS our business. They’re not keeping their disputes under wraps. It’s out there for all to see therefore we have a right to comment.

The “significant happening” was honouring BOTH son’s mother’s awards! Clearly at least one of those sons was ok with the timing. It could indeed be a coincident. I think people are making much about nothing!

It really isn’t our business and it’s the media making much of many things!

I don’t feel I have a “right” to comment, however we are all allowed to express our own opinions. But, for the most part, that’s what they are, opinions!

No one other than those directly involved knows the full facts

Well good for you, not having these flaws!

As I stated earlier, and consistently, I take everything I see and read with a punch of salt.

As our late Queen stated “recollections differ” and actually this is the truest statement I’ve ever read. Speak to any group witnessing the same event, you will get several different versions and those involved will all be affected differently.

Yes Cossy I am grateful I do not lie ,seek revenge or suffer
jealousy.

Jaberwok Fri 15-Mar-24 11:08:15

I do sometimes wonder what Harry led Meghan to believe before they were married. Perhaps that his position was much more important than it was, favourite grandson, so they could do and have anything they wanted, and that reality was rather different? Who knows. Meghan aside, what puzzles me is the way Harry treated the late Queen. Why call your new baby a nickname that you knew would upset your much loved grandmother and lie about her giving permission when the permission she gave was for her proper name to be used. Why give that awful interview when your beloved grandpa was dying, making the Queen cry? Why refuse to visit your dying grandmother, knowing how upset she would be? Which one of us would do that? Was the late Queen being punished for daring to stand in their way? Fast forward, why would Harry allow their spokesperson to accuse his father and once much loved SIL to be accused of racism, which is a complete lie. No wonder the RF want little or nothing to do with Harry, would any of us? The late Duke of Windsor pales into insignificance by comparison.

I’m afraid I have lied in the past, I have felt tinges of jealousy and once I felt very vengeful towards an ex boyfriend! So you are a very good and honourable person, never to have ever lied or experienced any unpleasant emotions.

maddyone Fri 15-Mar-24 11:13:59

The Duchess of Sussex has always cared about humanity

She estranged her father. He made mistakes but she will not forgive him. That’s not caring about humanity.
She lied about events in the RF in an interview. That’s not caring about humanity.
She and Harry have effectively estranged the whole of Harry’s family. That’s not caring about humanity.
Her children are not allowed to have a relationship with their grandfathers. That’s not caring about humanity.

If a person is unable to care about their own family (assuming they’re not sadistic abusers) then they can have no real care for other people. Children learn love and respect in the home. Harry’s childhood was undoubtedly difficult, but he was loved. I don’t know anything about Meghan’s childhood other than her parents were divorced and it is said that her father idolised her. They are possibly both quite damaged people, I don’t know, but they care about themselves, not about others.

Yes it does! And I spoke to someone close to me and “got over myself” it’s an utterly destructive emotion and anyone, like myself, needs to be self aware and get some help, as it can eat away at one and be very self destructive, just like other negative emotions.
