I’m staying with SiL and Gdcs at the mo and since they seem to be very short of socks for school, I ordered them a 7 pack each from M&S, and paid extra for a named delivery day of today.,

According to tracking, which I didn’t check until gone 6, the parcel was scheduled for delivery between 7 and 8.
It’s now well past 8 and it’s still not here.

Why on earth M&S use Evri I don’t know - there are so many complaints about them. Including now, from me! 🤬

I bought an item on Tuesday evening from Olivar Bonas. Evri has emailed to say it will be delivered today!!

Never had a problem with Hermes/Evri ,we had the same woman for well over a decade until she needed her knee replaced .She gave up the job and the lovely Asian man who took it over is just as good, helpful, reliable and friendly. We've had him for around 3 years now and the only problem is what to give him at Christmas, our previous courier was delighted to get wine...he doesn't drink alcohol so it was chocolates and nice dates last year..easter eggs for his kids already waiting at the door for him
YES he's muslim, but he's happy for his girls to have christmas and easter chocolate .Keeps them the same as their wee pals

Evri are my courier of choice. Drop off in a local shop. Our lady that delivers is fantastic and will go the extra mile to help. Price is good too.
Royal Mail and DPD are another kettle of cucumbers.......

It rarely works out well in my area, on an estate full of flats which all look the same, with the same front doors because they were all fitted by the council.

Had some very strange Evri couriers for years! Complaints got nowhere & one woman would walk down the drive then throw a parcel into my neighbours back garden, never found out why & happy when she quit! The man that took over was great & when I moved recently I wished I could take him too! No problems though as the lady who delivers to my new home is really almost as good! Do have problems with some Royal Mail deliveries though!

My Evri parcels usually arrive the day before they say they are coming.

Our regular Evri driver is really good, though other local couriers are not. One left a package under a shrub in the communal garden the other day and several have simply dumped their whole load of parcels by various lifts. Really inexcusable when there is a local shop who will happily take in parcels for residents even if this was not pre-arranged.

I shop with jd Williams and my evri guy is spot on! Couldn’t fault him.

I think a lot depends on your local delivery driver. Ours is excellent, parcels arrive on time and he's very personable and helpful.

They are in a hurry MissA because they work under horrible conditions they lose money if they have any parcels left over at end of shift and the amount they have to deliver per day is very very high Consider the road conditions, stuck in traffic jams etc they get low pay, drivers are dismissed if they don’t do a certain amount of deliveries per shift so yes they are always chasing their tails
But all our various delivery companies seem to have improved a lot over the last few years

.

Due to atrocious service from Evri and Hermes (same company) I now ask sellers who their carriers are. I have often been told that they don't use these carriers because of previous bad experiences. They say people only do because they're cheaper.

My last (and definitely last!) experience was a chocolate delivery (in warm weather). Tracker showed with Hermes two days later, with next day delivery. Next day it showed delivery two days later. Then five days later. Eventually arrived after 8 days with Hermes to travel 98-miles. I'll leave you to imagine the state of the chocolates!!

Amazon refunded me without any problems. I wrote to the company suggesting they change their carrier and that they read their own reviews on Amazon regarding delivery complaints. I didn't receive the courtesy of a reply.

Because of the delay I purchased from another supplier - only 41p extra. Royal Mail delivery and arrived two days later.
Wonderful service and, as it turned out, much nicer chocolates.

My reviews for both told the whole saga and pointed readers to the better choice.

I ALWAYS read reviews (and actually enjoy doing so) and usually check a seller or business on TrustPilot. Haste meant I didn't on this occasion. Literally 'more hate, less speed'!

Ooh don’t get me started on them. I’ve ordered lots of stuff and I get emails saying got your stuff then I get will be delivered today then I get messages saying returned to sender. Don’t even bother trying to complain to them about it. They send you emails saying we will be in touch about your complaint for further investigation but no one actually does and you can’t ring them as no number to call unless you wanna talk to a bot 🤖 I’d say I get one in ten parcels it’s hit and miss

Ah, I knew that they had terrible work conditions, but didn't realise they can lose pay over it.

I shall try to be more understanding.

We have a buzzer entry system, and they always buzz me to let them in if they don't get an immediate response
Then by the time I've got to the front door, they're in, have delivered to their person, and run away.

It can happen 10 times a day sometimes!

I’ve only once had a problem with Evri, an honest mistake by the delivery person but total inefficiency by the person behind the desk. They asked for a review and I left a very honest one! My (then Hermes) delivery man was a God send during Covid, always smiling and cheerful and always time for a chat.

Our Evri driver is fab, delivers a lot in the village, and posts on our FB page when he is going on holiday, most of us avoid ordering anything online until we know he is back home!

Some Evri drivers will go the last mile but others like Matilda when they are bad are really really bad. One Evri driver with a heavy Lakeland order refused to carry it to my door (I was working in that part of the garden) threw the parcel at me and stormed off. On checking his registration because of his erratic driving the vehicle was not taxed or MOT’d. Lakeland did nothing but send me a £20 voucher which I did not spend as I no longer buy from Lakeland until they use a different carrier. I will pay more for another carrier if a company offers it or else they don’t get my order.

I have had a delivery this week by Evri. The photo of the delivery driver was different but delivered on time. BUT previously we had 3 deliveries for a different house with the same post code as ours. They came to us first as we are first alphabetically, but in the middle of a square mile with 7 houses with the same post code. The recipient had to get in her car and come over a mile to collect her parcel from our doorstep.
Our gas supplier has asked for What3words instead of a post code. Much more sensible.

Saggi Sun 24-Mar-24 13:03:20

I must be lucky ….they always arrive when they say with EVRI ….🤷🏻‍♀️

MissAdventure Sun 24-Mar-24 13:14:03

I'm not sure who did the delivery, but I'm about to contact a seller on Amazon, as stuff has not arrived.

They're offering to send more, but I want a refund, and I'm scared to say it.

Fae1 Sun 24-Mar-24 13:37:51

No complaints from me about Evri. Always delivered when they said they would. And parcels are always left securely in my "safe place". Not so with Royal Mail. They fake a signature (on tracked and signed for packages) And rather than leave a note for the recipient and take the parcel back to the safety of the sorting office they just leave parcels on the doorstep outside. Contents were falling out of one parcel delivered to my address and parcels hardly ever arrive on time.

MissAdventure Sun 24-Mar-24 13:41:12

The Evri man delivers direct to my sofa, with me sitting on it, in the summer.

He also has a very lovely beard, which is another bonus.
I'm convinced he isn't responsible for my lost delivery.

lizzypopbottle Sun 24-Mar-24 13:41:31

When Evri was Hermes they were pretty bad. Only the name has been changed...

Damdee Sun 24-Mar-24 13:44:28

I find Evri very efficient - mostly better than Royal Mail.

Lemontart Sun 24-Mar-24 13:52:21

Avon use Evri for deliveries and my last 2 orders mysteriously went missing. I am convinced they were stolen by Evri employees but no way of proving it. I complained bitterly to Avon both times. They were happy to resend the orders but one of them couldn't be fully replaced as items had gone out of stock angry

sharon103 Sun 24-Mar-24 13:54:19

My Evri courier's brilliant. She always delivers and collects from my safe place. Never had a problem.
On lots of sites you can choose a safe place but at your own risk. Do amazon take any notice? Some do, some don't.
