I am not a Christian but always send cards to my observant friends and am delighted to receive them. I give Easter eggs to my grandchildren and often watch a service, mindful that I am happy to live in a predominately Christian country and it is the most important festival in the Christian calendar.

I might try thats eggs in mustard sauce Urmstongran.It sounds delicious.We never had that.I dont think my mum liked mustard.

My celebration amounts to my siter making a simnel cake and giving me a large wedge. She's just delivered an Easter egg as well, she spoils me.

Just another long weekend for me, more to I acknowledge Spring, but nothing religious.
Family tomorrow - I’ve bought little gifts and we’ll have coq au vin. More family on Monday, for roast chicken, more gifts and yes, a small chocolate egg for each DGS.

Now we're retired a long weekend doesn't mean so much to us though our working children really appreciate the time off.
Chocolate for our grandchildren, lots of lovely designs from M&S this year including scottie dogs, kittens, robots and dinosaurs (and none of them too big!)
Boxes of chocolates for my daughter and DiL.
Family are not around but we're having a solitary neighbour in for a roast lamp supper as he was at a loose end.
We're not religious but think of it as a spring festival - we have a lovely sunny spring day today.

Most of the eggs sold in grocers shops /supermarkets are reared in poultry farms and the eggs have not been fertilised.

Nothing religious as I don’t subscribe to any religion. So, essentially just another weekend, although I do like to celebrate the onset of Spring. When I was teaching we always used to go abroad on holiday during the Easter break but, now I’m retired we can avoid school holidays👏

Witzend in answer to your question about finding a chicken embryo in an egg..... Yes, I have. It was my first Christmas as a married woman. Early 1960's. I was making a Christmas cake. When I cracked the first egg, there inside was a fully grown chick.
Our eggs were free range from a local farm. I buried the chick in the garden.

Fish on Good Friday as always but out of habit rather than any religious feelings. Easter buns have been in the shops for months now and will probably have one or two but otherwise no different a wknd to any other for me.

There are two Marys.
One the Mother of Jesus, Blessed Virgin Mary.
The other Mary Magdalene who came from Magdala, and had the devil cast out of her.

We always ate fish on Fridays when I was growing up and we weren’t Catholic. I believe that the Catholic Church allowed chicken to be eaten at one time instead of fish.

Small gift and chocs for adult children and that will be it this year, no energy to invite anyone, shop, cook, clear away ..and received no invite so that' s fine.

We went to Mass on Thursday evening and yesterday afternoon and will go to the Easter Vigil this evening and Mass on Easter Sunday. No entertaining on Sunday but husband will have roasted chicken pieces and I (vegetarian) will have asparagus quiche, which is cooking in the oven now. We will haveroast potatoes, home-made mint sauce, purple sproting broccoli and then individual home-made steamed puddings and custard. After dinner we'll watch the last Death in Paradise, with the indulgent dark chocolate egg we bought ourselves. We took Easter eggs to my middle daughter and SiL, and Lindt bunnies for the kids (they are holidaying in Yorkshire this week. It's a mixture of religious and secular celebrating for us.

A family celebration for us this weekend with the children and grandchildren including an Easter egg hunt and a roast lamb dinner. Due to location, we are not all together very often so every meet up is special.

Calistemon- never heard that about Mary Magdeline being Jesus' wife-? And i'm catholic.My late mother & grandma more than i.But they never mentioned her as that at all.So no ive never heard anyone in our churches say it either.She was a prostitute of sorts i believe, a 'fallen woman' but Jesus befriended her and forgave her sins.If you dont wish to bible read then watch the epic movie- the one with Robert something or other is great.Cant remember his name but he has stunning blue eyes.andsuch a stage presence in this.

A scrap of papyrus dating from the 4th Century does mention that Jesus had a wife.
Of course, if this were proved to be true, then centuries of Roman Catholic traditions would be challenged, including the requirement for priests to be celibate as they claim Jesus was.

Absolutely nothing other than a small gift to 2 DGC but no egg or anything related to Easter. Gone are the days of decorating a hard boiled egg and rolling it down a hill.

I grew up C of E but we never ate fish on Good Friday- we walked up Holcomb Hill and came home to fried fish (bought fresh that morning on Bury market) and home made chips. We were ravenous after climbing what dad referred to as ‘that bliddy hill’ so mum spent ages making more chips.

I’m going to Church in the morning. Very mixed emotions about what in the Christian calendar is a day of hope. It’s just q years since my lovely husband was enduring daily endless investigations , which confirmed he would die within 6 months. He did. Rip my lovely boy 💙
