Sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly Galen but pleased you’ve got some help and support, take care
What an ordeal Soop hope you’re both resting and recovering at home now 💐

dustyangel Wed 17-Apr-24 17:11:32

What a day for you both soop, I do hope you have been able to rest and regain your equilibrium today.

Grandmabatty Wed 17-Apr-24 17:20:10

Soop you have dealt with the catalogue of errors with remarkable fortitude. I hope things go well tomorrow. Galen it's good to see you posting despite your ill health. Keep well.
I'm just home from the Glasgow Grans meet. I had a lovely time catching up with others. What a lovely group of ladies.

Naughtyneine Wed 17-Apr-24 17:32:01

Soop...I was tired just reading your post. I hope the outcomes will outway all that palaver and soon too. GrandmaB...I wish there was a West Country gathering...it would be lovely to put ' names' to faces.
Corner... Whatever it is I hope it can be sorted.
AnnS...I hope your friend doesn't complain too much and you enjoy the change of scene. I've been to the gym today and am feeling it after a 2 week break due to work. I've got a zoom training session at 7pm for the Safe Families volunteer role I'm taking on....I just hope I can stay awake. Sorry to all those I haven't mentioned....You are in my thoughts ( and prayers).

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Apr-24 19:14:29

What a difficult time Galen good to see you and pleased you have help.
What an horrendous journey soop, literally and figuratively, done, for now.
I’ve sown seeds in the greenhouse while the plasterer did his thing, messily, but finished now, it has four days to dry out, so Monday the tiler starts, Friday the shower tray goes in. It’s been sunny, but chilly today, MrJ is still suffering, this cold is a humdinger, in 25 years, I’ve not seen him so floored, it’s all in his sinuses, various sprays and other coldy stuff is being used.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 17-Apr-24 19:20:10

So sorry to read your post Galen I have been wondering about you. I might add you are looking very good x

soop you have both had an adventure.

Meeting with our building project manager was productive, he is on our side, our insurance company is on our side, unfortunately the loss adjuster is a complete bleep bleeping bleep

He/they are on my hit list for tomorrow!

Grannmarie Wed 17-Apr-24 19:53:32

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

Just popping in to say that I'm trying to keep up with your news, hoping to resume regular contact soon.🤞 Once again, thanks to all you special people for your kind thoughts and prayers, very much appreciated and reciprocated.💕🙏
I made it to the Glasgow Grans' meet up, how lovely to see our own Grandmabatty and Brook, and many other familiar, friendly faces. It fair cheered me up, very congenial company.

Aww, Soop, what a trying time for you and MrSoop. Thinking of you both, hoping and praying that these appointments will bring some relief and comfort.
So sorry to hear that you've been so ill, Galen, but glad that you're being well cared for at home. Pop in often, the company here is second to none!
Cornergran, thinking of you both.
Jaxjacky, sorry to hear that MrJ is still poorly.

Sorry if I haven't mentioned you by name, I will read all your posts. TOYA. 🥰

Bumface Wed 17-Apr-24 20:11:58

What a lovely, warm, heart felt post. I am fairly new to GN so I have only just come across Soop. Sorry about your various troubles. I wish all of you all the very best.

Love to all you gorgeous grannies.

Thorntrees Wed 17-Apr-24 20:28:25

What a day you have had Soop , hope the forthcoming appts help you both.
I had a telephone call from my endocrinologist today, all is still well after removing my adrenal tumour 2 years ago, one more year of tests and I will be discharged hopefully. She is such a lovely consultant and I am so grateful for her skill and care.
Very windy day here today but we managed a walk.
Glad those meeting up had a lovely time and thinking of all with worries and concerns.
A peaceful night to everyone.

mrshat Wed 17-Apr-24 20:39:31

Lovely to see you posting again Galen but so sorry to hear you have been so unwell - best wishes for a continued recovery. Good news that you (and your garden) are being well cared for.
soop and mr soop such a nightmare couple of days. Hoping that the appointments are fruitful and you can now rest and relax for awhile.
Best wishes to all others with sickness, or caring for those who are unwell, or indeed struggling with any problems.

What an awful 2 days Soop, glad it’s over (for now) and hope Mr Soop’s surgery follows soon.

Sorry to hear of your health issues Galen, glad to see you have help.

I’m quite jealous of the Glasgow Grans, would love to have been there! Pleased you all enjoyed it.

It has been a lovely spring day here, I have done lots of laundry and put most of it away. MrB has done the big shop. I did some physio and went out for a walk. There is a huge bank of cowslips along the woodland path, lots of people at work in the boatyard getting ready for summer cruising. Mushrooms on toast for my tea, MrB had chicken with a tomato salad. He doesn’t eat mushrooms and I don’t eat tomatoes as they upset my stomach, so we each have what we want 😊

I feel pretty tired, I’m pleased I got some things done today. Early night is in order, good night everyone sleep tight ❤️

SueDonim Wed 17-Apr-24 21:24:59

I’m sorry you’ve been unwell Galen but glad you have good carers and that you’re looking bright in yourself.
Your hospitals visits sound the stuff of nightmares, Soop. flowers
Grannygravy I think I’ve missed something - what works are required on your house?
How lovely that some of you got to Glasgow for a blether together!
Poor MrJ, Jaxjackie. There are some nasty bugs going round.
Hurrah to the boiler being fixed, Blossoming!
I’m chuckling at you having a miniature Father Jack in your house, GMbatty! 😂
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow, Annsixty. flowers

The weather today has been the most congenial for a couple of weeks, I think. Just two minor showers and mostly sunshine, plus the wind has dropped at last. It was enough to cut you in two the last few days. I hope my garden is drying out and I can get planting this weekend.

The latest update on the house is that I now need to tell the restorers exactly what shade of paint I want, walls, skirting boards, doors etc. How do I know what colour they are now? I know they’re white but there are about a million shades of white! I’m also chasing up replacement carpeting and hard flooring. I’m so bored with it all. 🥱

It’s four years this week since my youngest dd graduated in our sittingroom as a doctor and launched her career at the forefront of the pandemic. Talk about being dropped in the deep end.

We’re away down south next week to visit DS2 and family, in Hampshire. I’m slightly edgy about arrangements as we’re flying into Heathrow on the same day as DS returns from a business trip to the US and he’ll transport back to his house. What could possibly go wrong? 👀 On the plus side, he’ll be visiting ds1 while he’s there. I’ve found someone to look after our half-grown kittens while we’re away, so that aspect is sorted. I’ve also booked the girl cat in to be spayed after we’re back as she’s 6mths now and putting on some weight since I found some food she likes.

That’s about it for now, I’m looking forward to bedtime! Sweet dreams, everyone. Xxx

brook2704 Wed 17-Apr-24 21:41:56

Hope the travel plans all come together SueD and have a lovely time at your DS2s - Heathrow is such a big airport but I think it runs quite smoothly. We’ll done to your DD 👏
Maybe next time Blossoming if you’re heading up north ? It would be lovely to meet you and everyone is always very welcome
Jax … the names are always top secret - you’ll just have to guess ….🤣

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 17-Apr-24 22:24:03

I hadn’t had a Knickerbocker Glory for over 40 years. Fortnum and Mason is right opposite the Royal Academy so I popped over for lunch during the Nordic Studies Day. A healthy chicken salad to start with and then this: (OH did say I should treat myself as he’s just bought a car which he’s collecting tomorrow.)

Charleygirl5 Wed 17-Apr-24 23:13:58

Dare I say it but the staff at Heathrow are on strike. I hope they return to normal service by next week. I think it is for 4 days- I imagine it will be money as usual.

Winter has returned to London.
TOYA

soop Thu 18-Apr-24 14:19:26

WELCOME Bumface. Your name made me chuckle. grin

Many thanks for all your supportive messages. We are beginning to enjoy life in the leisurely lane. The comings and goings earlier in the week were somewhat traumatic.
Since wearing my new hernia support, I have been bleeding around the stoma. Have been advised to await a larger garment.

Sorry to hear that you have been so unwell, Galen. We send our love and every good wish for a speedy recovery. flowers

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Apr-24 15:20:33

Update on our building works, they are downing tools tomorrow as neither our Insurance Company (who are absolutely marvellous) or building contractors are happy with what has been revealed in one of our upstairs rooms.

More conference calls and in all probability a rather intrusive geo-investigation under house 😱

I do not know whether to laugh or cry as finally after seven years and one complete (failed) renovation of the entire house someone has actually listened to us and not taking the word of the useless excuse of a loss adjusting firm 😡😡😡😡😡

Grandmabatty Thu 18-Apr-24 17:19:15

Oh Grannygravy how distressing for you. 💐
I've had a meeting today with my lawyer and started the process of applying for guardianship for mum. My free loader brother is in for a shock. Anyway I've had a quiet afternoon. It's so cold that I have the heating back on. Soop take care of yourself.

brook2704 Thu 18-Apr-24 17:32:56

Blimey GG13 you don’t do things by half do you …What an ongoing ordeal you must be going through, I’d be so stressed out with it all but I hope you are coping well - please continue to let off steam here!

We dropped our gorgeous DGD off at school this morning, I didn’t see that much of her but she’d enjoyed playing libraries with grandad yesterday - it was a clever trick really to get her to sort and tidy all her books out
I’ve not done much today, just a Tesco shop and a trip to Dunelm for some new bedding and a couple of bedside lights as we’ve been updating one of the spare rooms.

Hoping good progress has been made grandmabatty and the process doesn’t take too long. It’s really cold here today too the heating is always on in the evenings

Soop sending ❤️ to you both

That looks so good Llfl - hope you enjoyed it!

Jaxjacky Thu 18-Apr-24 17:34:17

I’ll wave next week SueD from south Hampshire.
I’m pleased the majority are on your side GG13 but what a lot of upheaval and uncertainty, you must be despairing, let’s hope soon a proper resolution is agreed.
A day off from tradesmen and a closed front door, I ventured to our closest town for a bank visit, the town is not very salubrious and I usually avoid it. But, hurrah the skip has been delivered, MrJ loaded it and our front garden doesn’t look like fly tipping any more, he’s still not right, but insisted.
Leek seeds sown in the greenhouse, I’ll sown flower seeds this weekend.
A necessary, but sad meeting Grandmabatty well done to you, heating is on here too.

brook2704 Thu 18-Apr-24 17:37:46

Hoping MrJ is feeling much better soon Jax

Jaxjacky Thu 18-Apr-24 17:58:35

Thanks brook it’s making him a bit down.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Apr-24 18:19:29

I am about to have a very large glass of chilled white wine, naughty but nice.
