Oh annsixty what an awful day for all involved, sending my deepest condolences to the young family 💐

soop Tue 09-Apr-24 14:59:06

annsixty I am so sorry to hear that a wee baby's short life has ended. Those poor parents must be heartbroken.

Naughtyneine Thank you for a belly-laugh.

It is GOOD news day. At breakfast time, a telephone call from the Glasgow hospital informed Mr Soop that he has a pre-op appointment for early next week. On the previous day, I shall be attending a different Glasgow hospital for a hernia support consultation. This means...a night spent in the Premier Inn to save two long journeys. We shall pretend that we are on holiday. Fish and chips on the menu. A weight has been lifted. Hallelujah!

Tomorrow, off we go to the Vale of Leven. I have the pleasure of a mammogram to add extra spice to my life.

To all those dear Kitcheners with health problems, I am sending special healing vibes.

That is good news Soop!

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Apr-24 15:43:45

Good news of a sort Soop. I hope all goes well for both of you. Annsixty that poor family. I have been thinking of them.
Today I have picked up my prescription and checked dd's house for mail etc. I've also made a slow cooker pot of chilli which is bubbling away. I'm about to brave the rain to put out the rubbish then empty and load the dishwasher. I am living quietly otherwise. The weather has been rather horrible for a while. I'm hoping it improves because my garden needs attention. I wish you all a good afternoon kitcheners.

My heart goes out to that poor family Annsixty.
Good news Soop.
I have felt rubbish the last few days, cough sore throat and very croaky.Bit better today so hope it’s on the way out now! So many viruses around.
We have just ordered a fire pit for our terrace.Lets hope we don’t need to use it too much.
Have a good evening everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Apr-24 16:07:02

annsixty how heartbreaking 💔

soop yippee things are moving at last 👍

I think I have taken a step backwards with this lurgy very achey today, no energy, fortunately The Imp has been such a good little soul. The wind hasn’t let up, we have had showers and sun, such an odd day.

SueDonim Tue 09-Apr-24 17:48:19

At last, Soop! No one wants all this medical stuff but it it has to be done, the sooner the better. Good luck with everything.
Annsixty there are no words, really. That poor darling baby and family. sad
I’m sorry so many are still suffering with bugs. Do you think the germs 🦠 are breeding in all the standing water everywhere??

My day turned out completely differently to that which was planned, which was to visit another town to shop for treats at Waitrose. That didn’t happen. Dd1 sent me a plaintive text last night to say she and the GC were staying with a friend but dd had been taken ill with a lurgy (which sounds v similar to what people on here are describing.) and she felt terrible. I then had an early morning phone call from her asking if I could drive her Dh to the friend’s house so that he could then drive them all home as she was too ill. So I’ve just got home from a 180 mile round trip, for the most part in pouring rain.

Dd is home and in bed now, not sure what it is she has, though so far no one else has succumbed. 🤞 The look on the GC’s faces when we turned up in their friends’ house was hilarious, I must say, grin plus I bumped into an old friend whilst shopping at the local supermarket for sick-bed supplies of rich tea biscuits, nurofen and Lucozade. Every cloud etc.

Since we’ve got home I’ve been a source of entertainment to one of the kittens. I have a new navy blue jumper with white spots on. She thinks the spots are alive and keeps trying to catch and eat them. 😂

That’s all for today, I think, I feel ready for bed! TOYA. Xx

So pleased to hear the appointment is in the diary soop hoping all goes well. It’s also good that you can stay overnight and save two long journeys. I don’t know whether it’ll work for you date wise but next Wednesday afternoon, the 17th is the Glesca Grannies meet up in Glasgow so if you’re around it would be so lovely to see you both!
Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better Yia but sorry to hear you’re moving backwards GG13 - hope you’re much better soon
The rain has returned here in Inverness, everything very soggy and bedraggled again. I’ve been out this afternoon volunteering but not done much else
Can I pop round for dinner grandmabatty ? Sounds delicious and just what’s needed
My goodness SueD that’s a long tiring journey especially in the rain but good that you could help out when needed. Hoping your DD feels much better soon. Your kittens sound like non stop fun !

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Apr-24 18:15:53

Brook chilli, rice and homemade nachos. You're welcome

brook2704 Tue 09-Apr-24 18:35:42

Oh grandmabatty if only I lived round the corner from you - I’d be there in a jiffy!

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Apr-24 18:44:14

ann heartbreaking.
Better news soop at least you can plan now.
Crumbs *SueD a true labour of love, well done you.
My cough is lingering and MrJ now has the lurgy, he cuts a sorry figure on the sofa, I’m sorry you’ve slid backwards GG13 a stubborn bug.
We’ve had showers again, apparently a priest in Wexford has held a mass for better weather, fingers crossed.

hulahoop Tue 09-Apr-24 19:01:05

Soop glad you have appointments sorted. SueD hope your daughter feels better soon . Ann my heart goes out to the poor family. It's very windy here tonight hope it calms down before bedtime.

RosiesMaw Tue 09-Apr-24 19:44:00

That’s positive news Soop I hope both appointments go smoothly and the drive in both directions is not too “zorsting”
All my worries about Rosie’s GA for her dental procedure (removal of a cracked tooth) came to nothing today as I had a phone call around lunch time to say that both dental ops booked for today had been postponed as some machine had broken down and an engineer was being called out.
Fortunately they had not started with pre-meds or indeed the anaesthetic, but poor doggie, 15 hours NBM just to spend the morning sleeping on an orthopaedic mattress at the vets .
I in the meantime was majorly stressed at home.
Of course she has no idea about anything and I think quite enjoyed the attention from the vet nurses and extra treats!
Kind thoughts to all the poorlies in the kitchen and a huge 👏👏👏to SueDonim for being Mum to the rescue yet again.

mrshat Tue 09-Apr-24 19:48:07

Great news soop. Plans can now be put in place.
Ann heartbreaking news about that poor little baby. Sincere condolences to the family and friends.
To all others, who seem to be many, suffering in any way or who have those close to them suffering, positive vibes and good wishes from me!
Take care everyone flowers

dragonfly46 Tue 09-Apr-24 19:51:06

Brilliant news soop

cornergran Tue 09-Apr-24 20:07:40

I’m more than pleased for you both soop it might seem an odd thing to say about medical appointments, apt in this case I think

A huge hug to all poorly people, that lurgy seems to be oh so prevalent and truly floors folk. Get better soon all who are struggling.

Oh ann, what a heartbreaking day for everyone.

It’s been howling wind here all day today. Flood warnings are back. Two positive medical appointments down, two to go next week. We do realise how fortunate we are to have such support.

Tomorrow should be a good day here. Neighbours and friends coming for coffee in the morning and our replacement conservatory blinds to be fitted in the afternoon. Other than a slight wobble in case we dislike the fabric once it’s here a day to look forward to with pleasure.

Feet up here now. Have a good evening everyone and sleep well tonight.

gillgran Tue 09-Apr-24 20:09:36

A relief for you, Mr&MrsSoop, to get that appointment date, I hope all goes well for you both.

Warm thoughts for all in this cosy kitchen.

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Apr-24 20:36:14

Excellent news thus far * corner* no advisories when your MOT’s are finished I hope.

RosiesMaw Tue 09-Apr-24 21:29:55

A heartbreaking day Annsixty
I still remember our baby boy’s funeral 51 years ago, he was just 4 weeks old and I can still see the undertaker carrying that tiny white coffin.
Shortly before he died DH admitted that one of the lasting regrets of his life was that he had not carried the little coffin himself but we were so young, so unprepared and so knocked sideways by losing our first child we were both quite numb.
You don’t expect to bury your baby.

Nannytopsy Wed 10-Apr-24 02:06:29

RosiesMaw I don’t have the words.

Well done SueD - riding to the rescue again! Did you get your towels? I like Dunelm too.
Fantastic news for the soops. I hope all goes well.
Thank you for that idea Urms. If I don’t get an answer to my snail mail letter, I shall try that next. It should arrive tomorrow…
I used to drink gallons of coffee but recently stopped having one after dinner, for no particular reason. We had one tonight and now I’m wide awake at 2am. Grrr!
