A fair few are now on penicillin or antibiotics, fortunately not Covid. The GC seem to have rallied quicker than the AC and myself.

Fortunately business (we have a family SME) has been quiet all week, so there have been a few occasions of heads on desks.

My sister and I both have asthma which this bug/virus has exacerbated, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

All baby animals are so cute, LLFL. There was a film of an adorable baby giraffe on the BBC yesterday, legs going in all directions!
Your amaryllis is beautiful but makes me feel guilty, Brook. I bought one before Xmas but in all the todo with the flood, it didn’t get planted. I recently found the box and when I opened it, it had developed pale leaves and a flower, all of which were sadly curled round and round the pot it was in. I felt like a murderer! There was also a box with paper whites that were supposed to be for Xmas. I planted them and they’ve just come into flower outdoors.

A quiet day today although the weather has been wild, a lot more rain overnight and high winds since lunchtime. We went to the supermarket, where two cotton summer jumpers fell into my trolley, and the pet shop for the cat food that our one difficult kitten eats. Tonight she ate all her tea and part of her brothers, too! She’d better not go off it or I shall cry.

We FaceTimed with our USA son this evening, which is why I’m late posting here. TOYA. X

There are three large vessels anchored in the Sound of Jura. They are sheltering from the high winds that are buffeting the peninsula.

I've to take the new hormone suppressant for five years, not three as first prescribed. I shall be almost eighty eighty when I finish the course. Ten years after the mastectomy.

We hope to have Mr Soop's referral letter at some time during the coming week. I shall then reeeeelax.

It’s windy here but the sun is shining at last.I have just sent for my wedding outfit for DS1’s wedding in August,not too sure but can always return it!
Hope the cough and cold brigade are feeling better.My cough is a little better but have lost my voice,DH enjoying the peace.🤣 we are going for a family curry later as it’s DIL1’s,birthday.

Hello kitchen people. Gosh it’s windy here! OH wanted to visit his bees but wind makes them obstreperous - he was stung the other day when it was wet.
Church this morning, a bit of ironing and reading the papers. OH is outside in his hammock. It is windy but warm. Chicken cooked with lemons, mushrooms and cream tonight. Ice cream for pudding.
I hope that letter arrives tomorrow Soop! I remember waiting for a mammogram results letter (the first since my cancer diagnosis) and it took four weeks when it was supposed to take no more than two. It had been lost in the post. The letter was dated three weeks earlier!

Our Boy Wonder is off school now for 2 weeks. Finished Friday. Crazy, as everyone else goes back in tomorrow.

Me: “Poor boy on his own for 2 weeks with only his old grandma for company part of each day”.

Sounds like a very virulent bug GG13 good that improvements are being felt.
I’m invigorated having spent time in the garden, the knee is so much better, my last challenge will be the bath, forklift at the ready..
Seeds sown, potatoes planted, bark picked up, by MrJ and plants ordered, birds are all singing their merry tunes and it’s not rained for two days, hurray.
I shall wash my jumpers tomorrow, just keeping a one out and hope we have no more chilly days.

I too have been tackling the jumpers- we have had two gloriously sunny but WINDY days, perfect drying weather and if it doesn’t move it gets washed.
I will pack them up but am holding fire on transferring to the loft as that would ensure a cold snap for certain.
I hope GG13 and family are all on the mend, what an unpleasant experience for you all .
And Soop - wishing you forbearance as you wait for Mr Soop’s referral letter, my fingers are crossed it will come tomorrow. If not, can you chase it up on line or by phone?

Thank you for your good wishes, on the upside it doesn’t appear to be Covid. My sister tested negative, another family member had a minor operation yesterday and they were negative.

I think it must be this 100 (?) day cough thingy, it is horrid and extremely debilitating.

I will be back to comment on all your lovely posts when I have got over the mortification of what follows. A few weeks ago when things were troubled I find myself in Plymouth.... Don't ask me why... I was upset and just got on a train. Anyway I ended up in Waterstones and having got a voucher for Christmas I bought some books. I liked the sound of one in particular...called Steeple Chasing (I thought it would be along the similar lines to Attention all Shipping that I read 20 years ago and re-read it earlier this year ) It's stories ( factual ...that's an important detail) about different churches in various places in the UK. I started reading it (and then I got sort of sideways lured by Celia Imries Not Quite Nice.... ) but I thought as a slightly different Easter gift I would buy a copy for our lovely Parish Priest... The chapters I'd read were fascinating and along with some nice cheese ( he's a foodie) would make a change from an Easter Egg. So I duly popped out and got another copy...wrapped it up along with some Delice de Bougoine and gave it to him after the Easter Vigil service. All good you think...... So did I until yesterday morning when having finished the sequel to Not Quite Nice I picked up my copy of Steeple Chasing and carried on reading with increasing horror the next chapter...it was about gargoyles...it started off innocently enough and then it went on to go into VERY deep detail about Sheelah na gig. ( Google it at your peril). Basically ( very basically) it's gargoyles of ladies exposing their bits and leaving nothing to the imagination. I broke out in a sweat and very nearly had a coronary when the author quoted some woman who is an expert on these things and she mentioned the 'C' word. DOH was no help at all as he couldn't stop laughing. I thought I was going to need medication to slow my heart rate down. I then decided to email Father T and explain that I hadn't read all the book before buying him a copy and if wasn't too late could he not read it and just pop it into a charity shop. As I pushed send I thought...Oh God help me what if he does just that and someone sees him and thinks 'oh if it's good enough for a priest I'll buy it". I have to say I nearly resorted to alcohol before midday. The only saving grace ( if there is one) is that it wasn't illustrated.

Just sad that at the time you were so upset in the first place you jumped a train ‘to anywhere’.
I trust whatever upset you has resolved itself now.

Naughtyneine I’m sure he’ll be absolutely fine! I thoroughly enjoyed that book, it’s my best read for a very long time.

Today I have pottered about the house mainly but tidied up the toys in the garden. Some beast had relieved itself on my grass which made me cross. It has to have been a cat because my garden isn't accessible to dogs. Grr. Anyway, I achieved quite a lot without trying. Dd video called me again and the boys were there. Dgs2 was very keen to show me his new cars while dgs1 wanted me to see his monkeys. Tomorrow is their last day and they've had a great time. I have had a peaceful time 😊. Tomorrow I will do some more pottering and pick up my prescription. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

It’s been a sunny but windy day here, got loads done in the garden, no gym to go to but I did get a bit of a workout digging a deep rooted plant out of the front garden.

Have you heard soop? If not, get on that phone! I am frustrated that 3 calls to my consultant’s secretary have not been answered. I assumed she was on holiday last week but nothing today and an answer phone again. It is beyond frustrating and I struggle to think of anything else. I was in an awful lot of pain at the weekend but it is easier today. I’ll be on the phone again tomorrow …
Our weather, in East Anglia, has been warmer, drier and windy. Good for the washing but I have had to water fresh planting this evening! Hosepipe ban anyone? 🤣

I’m hoping that the Soops might have had good news today. 🤞

The day started bright here but by teatime it was raining again and is due to rain all night. I’m going to need a kayak to get round my garden soon.

I did some life admin today, booked the car in for new tyres and brake pads and phoned the ins co about the flood repairs. They’ll ’get back to me’ definitely within 48hrs. If they’re not, I shall be on the phone again at approx 14:10 hours on Wednesday to demand they Do Something.

We then shopped for some household bits and bobs then went to Dunelm for new towels. I’d bought some M&S towels in their post-Xmas sale but they were awful. They sort of slid over your skin and didn’t dry you properly. After they’d been washed eight or ten times I decided they weren’t going to get any better and I’ll recycle them. I have Dunelm hand towels in the cloakroom and they’re really nice so I’ve bought some sunshine yellow ones for our ensuite.

I dashed into Morrisons while we were out for a comfort stop and got sidetracked by their display of plants. I ended up with nine, all for under £18. If some don’t make it, it’s not a huge loss. Speaking of plants, the red oxalis that the kittens had demolished has made a miraculous recovery after repotting. One has 18 leaves now and the smaller bit has four. I don’t think the spider plant is going to recover, though.

I’m smiling at your post neine. Look upon the book as educational, should the priest benefit from education. My guess is he won’t bat an eyelid.

It’s appointment time for us. Our practice physio (we’re so lucky to have 3 available to us although we must travel a fair distance to see them), has referred Mr C for a DXA scan as recommended from the last one six years ago. Scarily easy process. I’ve a hospital physio assessment appointment tomorrow, brought forward by six weeks at their request. Blimey. Next week it’s two for me. Eye hospital to have the bleed assessed on Tuesday and a real live GP on Friday. Not sure the NHS can afford us.

I’m concerned for you both soop. Why not chase that letter, worth a try.

There’s not been a hint of sun here for, well forever. I think it’s been banned! Constant grey cloud and if not rain dampness in the air. So far I’ve resisted the temptation to stamp my foot and say (scream) it’s not fair. If whoever has kidnapped the sun would set it free I’d so appreciate it.

A small tip. (From my working days). Ring another medical secretary in the hospital and ask for help in contacting her colleague. She would give you an email address to use. Send an ‘urgent’ email to the appropriate secretary and always copy in ‘someone else’. That way the recipient knows they are being monitored.

Good morning all.
A very, very wet day here and a very sad one, it is the funeral of my S’s friend’s 6 week old baby.
It is a burial so an awful day for it.
My S is very worried for the young man’s mental health as his behaviour has them all perplexed.

I am over the worst of my virus but energy levels so low and aches and pains constant.
I feel sorry for anyone else having it or had it, it is all debilitating.

I cancelled my weekend away,partly due to the train strike but I just wasn’t up to it.
Due to go away next week for 2 nights with my friend but thinking long and hard about it.

Very kind thoughts to all who are not well or on caring duties.
