Today is DD’s birthday so I’m cooking a roast dinner with all the trimmings while she and DH walk the dogs.

As for Sweetie Pie he never did learn any manners, He is now fed and watered so I doubt if you will see him for a few more weeks.
Rosie's Maw Rosie knows how to empty your bank account without really trying. Dental work is not covered by insurance unfortunately.

My new neighbours are having a BBQ and did not warn me. Luckily for them, it is cleaning cloths and other items which do not matter.

It’s 5 months today since I had my pacemaker fitted and I am grateful every day for the skill and care I experienced that have got me safely to this day and hopefully many days to come.
Signs of spring in the garden at last,apple blossom slowly emerging and very busy blackbirds on the feeders.

Soop I hope all the medical appointments go well. Dd and the boys came round for a visit this morning and it was truly lovely to see them. Then I visited mum in hospital. The nurses have to give her medication covertly because she's been refusing to take it. What a difference! She's engaging in conversation and staying awake for fifteen minutes at a time which is a big improvement. I then nearly crashed the car on the way home by not paying attention. The adrenaline rush has only just subsided. What an idiot! I'm having roast chicken, mash, assorted vegetables and gravy later. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

I hope your appointments go well, Soop. You mentioned the OMR in one post - I didn’t realise it was an escorted bypass. How annoying.
Brook we’ve had the sunshine and heavy showers, too. I’ve not managed to go into the garden, there always seems something else to do but maybe this week.

Poor Rosie, Rosiesmaw! One of my kittens is teething and he has such red and sore looking gums. It doesn’t stop him biting me, though. 😂

I don’t know where the last few days has gone. I had my book group and followed up with high tea with my closest friend, which was a lovely day. We didn’t do any childcare after all last week though did some shopping for bits for dd. We paid a visit to a fancy farm shop yesterday where I ate a cake I think must have been about my own body weight. It was a struggle, but I managed!

Today we had a visit from dd1. She’d planned to come with the GC but managed some childfree time so we could have a proper chat. She’s still got quite a cough but has improved a lot since last week. In the middle of that, a new gardener turned up. He’s going to keep the grass under control for us. I really hope the weather is drier this week so I can put in some of the plants I have.

We’ve had the go ahead for the repairs stage of the house after our flood. I’m not sure exactly how it works so I need to call tomorrow and find out what’s involved. If we need to move out I’m not quite sure what we’ll do because no one wants to rent anywhere to people with cats.

I’ve been checking out flights as we’re going to visit DS down south next week. He’s asked us if we’d like to share in GD’s 7th birthday celebrations. It’s dh’s birthday the same day so double the fun!

The kittens are doing well, the boy is really quite a size now and not very kittenish in looks any more. They and we had an awful fright the other evening! If anyone has watched the film Cujo, about a rabid St Bernard dog, it was like that. We were sitting quietly late evening when there was a loud thud at the French doors. Girl kitten flew from one end of the room to the other while boy kitten jumped literally five feet in the air and hid under the sofa.

Dh and I cautiously opened the curtains a little and there was next-door’s large and feisty cat, sitting on the patio, glaring at us. 🐱 Our cats’ fur was up on end and their tails as big as toilet brushes. We managed to chase him off but he did it again a couple of nights later. I don’t know if he knows we have cats or if he’s just confused as to which set of French doors is his own. 😂

Dh has made a chilli for tonight, which is bubbling away in the slow cooker as I type. It smells wonderful.

OH is driving our daughter to get a train back to London. We had a lovely day in London yesterday taking my granddaughter (her niece) to the Young V&A. We had a picnic in the park first and spent another hour in a different park having spent 3 hours in the museum. It was such a beautiful warm day. Then at around 6 pm we handed granddaughter over to her mum at Paddington and daughter and I got the train back to Oxford.
I always cook her favourite lunch when she’s back for the weekend - roast chicken and all the trimmings. I had also made a batch of her favourite caramel ice cream.
When OH returns from the station we will clear out the kitchen ready for the decorators tomorrow.

Busy llfl we too are clearing, our bedroom as the ensuite replacement starts tomorrow. A tasty carvery lunch out with my daughter and the grandchildren earlier, it was good to catch up.

We had a very productive weekend with the DGC and they helped so much in the garden. We have had 2 rain free days which helped too. My tomato plants were growing so much that I have had to plant them in the bed in the greenhouse. I didn’t think of fleece Jax but I’m trying a nightlight candle under an upturned terracotta pot. The idea is that the flame warms the pot and keeps the frost at bay. We shall see in the morning!
Our blackbirds are busy too Thorntrees and keep my DH busy feeding them!
I hope you are all safely fast asleep and not wide awake at silly o’clock. 💤

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. MrB and I are safely home from our break. We had a wonderful time and ate lots of lovely food and wine may have been consumed! My temperamental tum has behaved impeccably and MrB has not had any dizzy spells. The journey both ways was horrendous due to traffic problems on theM6 so we are catching our breath now. Baxi called just after we got in and the engineer is coming to sort the boiler tomorrow. Normal service will be resumed! TTFN xxx

Hi kitcheners, an update on my builders, they arrived on time this morning, started well.

After completely stripping out one of our guests rooms (floor, removed fitted wardrobes and started chiselling off plaster, they realised that more needed doing than which was on the schedule of works so off they trotted.

They are returning on Wednesday am with their boss, I held my tongue and resisted saying

I could have told you that, and in fact I did tell your boss four weeks along with the loss adjusters and our insurance company

but hey ho…

It’s dark and hailing here, very windy too, truly April showers today.
The voluntary phone was averagely busy today, now to sort out lifts. Our en-suite has been removed, and is an eyesore in the front garden, the skip isn’t here yet, hopefully it will be here before 6.
Quiz tonight, it’s normally well attended and enjoyable.

Good afternoon kitcheners. Lots of DIY going on in the kitchen today. I hope it all goes well. Blossoming it sounds like you have had a lovely time.
A long day for me. Half six until half five with the boys. They have been so good today.nive thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Dgs1 started a new football club today, so I'll find out how it went when I see him tomorrow. Dgs2 has been a wee sweetheart today. He's made me laugh a lot. Tonight's dinner is chicken in white sauce with mash, broccoli and peas, followed by pineapple upside down cake.
Tomorrow will be much of the same as today. I'll make a Chinese style chicken and mushroom curry for dinner. It's been a sunny day but cold, however dgs2 and I went puddle splashing and played in the back garden. I hope you all have had a good day.
