Good morning from s somerset and it is raining

A good day yesterday, I am keeping on top of things by deep cleaning a small area at a time. Yesterday I did the en suite, a definite sparkle clean from top to bottom. I also sowed my courgette and cucumber seeds, I bought a small heated propagator this year and had excellent results with tomato seeds.

I want to do all the inside windows and shutters today, this is not a job I like but it will be a dull day and good for doing windows. I think I will just grit my teeth and get on with it.

Good morning from a damp Torbay.

Thank you to you all for the kind comments and messages of support regarding the driving. It meant a lot to hear from you all. Only now do I understand how sad it must have been for my dear departed Dad to give up driving at a similar age although not with the same condition.

We shall hang on to my car for a while, until the insurance is up for renewal, (DH is covered to drive it) which gives me time to jump through hoops with the DVLA. They will require a further test from Specsavers, presumably considered more trustworthy than the NHS or any other qualified optician!

Yesterday, at Wednesday Club we were well entertained by a lady who had been a Norland Nanny in her young days and cared for the offspring of various rock stars, including Mick Jagger, before becoming the first female tour manager and being in charge of The Who! Her name is Sally Arnold and she has published a book -Rock ‘N’ Roll Nanny so I bought a copy.

Another trot out for me to Llandudno to sort a birthday present for DD and pick up a few groceries from MandS then home for the day.

More bingo this evening 🤗. We’ve started our next outing fund with £20 win ( a shared line which seems poor but there were 7 winners of the £110 house so I stopped moaning PDQ😂)

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Will this rain ever stop I wonder.

I feel that I’m moving through treacle most days as everything I do has to be done slowly so as not to irritate my back. It is less painful just now though for which I’m grateful.

Today I will make a pot of chilli for us and Tuscan chicken to take to DS tomorrow.

Good morning from a chilly Bristol. I was welcomed back at 0300 by spectacular thunder and lightning! And also a cold; the first in about nine years.
Yesterday, we went to Syntagma square to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. It happens hourly and is very amusing. These virile, macho young men wearing frilly mini skirts and pom-poms on their shoes, doing amazing choreography and requiring such skill and balance!
Then the Lyceum, where Socrates, plato and Aristotle taught. Finally. As ever was starting to flag, wandered in the very posh shopping streets. Dinner at home, eating up all the leftovers as the family is off early this morning island hopping for the next week.
Bless her, DD made sure I was on the right tube to the airport; it took nearly an hour. Everything went to plan and I was home by 0300.
I now have to get off soon for my eye hospital follow up.

Good morning from a rainy Cornwall where I'm looking at my newly configured art room, where I sleep. Decided I need a proper writing area so moved shelves, cupboards and tables and slept extremely well after all that. My metal mannequin has been relegated to the patio for ivy to grow up it as there's now no room in my flat for it. My granddaughter sat and sewed and sketched for most of the day and her face shone like the sun when she heard that she'll be here all next Wednesday too.

Today I'm off to B&Q to buy small doors for my open box shelving. The bus stops right outside so that's helpful with the crutches versus packages juggling act. 😄

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet South Yorkshire. I’m sick of this rain! Enough already! There will be no pleasure in walking this morning as the woods will be wall to wall sludge. We’ve had one dry day this week.
I took GS home yesterday, calling into their local pub for a lovely lunch on the way, and stayed at their house drinking coffee until it was time for him to be picked up for his driving lesson. I called in at the garden centre on the way home to buy an aubretia for my rockery wall. No more gaps to fill.

We have a full house that will get fuller today because of the weather.
It's Son out law's 40th birthday. He didn't want a fuss. He had planned a trip to the Zoo if the weather was good. Plan B is coming here....
Everyone will be going home tonight bar DS, who leaves on Sunday night.

Good morning, a damp start here in south Glos, nothing changes!
I have a headache and a very sore arm from my shingles jab so slept badly, but apart from art group nothing planned today.
My neighbour will be dismantling my greenhouse so over the next few day I need to empty it. DH uses it as a dumping ground so he can clear his stuff out too.
Yesterday I did two dog walks and didn’t see a single person, I assume people are away, that’s really unusual.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
We are having lunch with old friends today at a riverside pub. The last time we were there the car park was flooded and the only available space was being jealously guarded by a swan! All was well.
I have copious notes to type up from last night’s meeting and I still haven’t collected a parcel from Waitrose. I’ve ordered a beautiful cardigan and blanket for my new great niece in Australia.

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

I am helping at a Memory Cafe this morning and, after lunch, our opposite neighbour is coming to view her redesigned front garden from our bedroom window. She is losing her sight and is trying to future proof as much as possible. No doubt tea and a catchup will follow.

We had the sad news yesterday that DH's old university friend, who has heart failure, is not suitable for the surgery he was expecting to have next week. He and his lovely wife are in shock as are we and the rest of our diminishing and close knit group.

Hygienist this morning so must get a move on. I hope the wind has died down. Yesterday was dry, but such an unpleasant wind that I remain indoors rather than garden.

Throwing it down out there. As greyd says, enough already! After a predictably frustrating meeting Mr C built a small unit yesterday to go next to the computer table while I removed dust, so good to have somewhere to put odds and ends. A wait and see day ahead, no idea what we can do that will take us out without the need for water wings.

Good morning from a very wet Oxfordshire, we drove home last night through torrential rain and flooded roads once again, when will it ever stop?

After a chilli and some card games, plus a game of ‘Mexican Train’ dominoes, We ventured through the mud to the barns where we held baby lambs of 2 weeks old and 1 week old, the Mum s were very accommodating, but the new Mum wouldn’t let us near her 1 day old lambs, they are so cute!
Rare breeds raised by a friend, we also gave a hug to her extremely pregnant mare who is due any day now.
All the other ponies are fed up with being confined to the stables. We also saw a pair of barn owls who flew around the yard and landed in a tree.
A very good evening was had by all.
A quiet day today.
Well done GM I don’t think I would have coped with night time travel on a tube in a country where I couldnt read the signs.

Good morning from another dull and grey Black Country, where it rained overnight.

Mums smart meter was duly upgraded, so afterwards we went for a walk along the Staffs railway walk. Not as far as we used to go as she is finding it a bit much now.

Walking group this morning for me, hopefully the rain will hold off.

Good morning from an as yet dry Suffolk although there appears to have been a tremendous amount of rain during the night.

I have my stretch class this morning and then I must go shopping in readiness for the arrival of the Bristol lot tomorrow. The 3 GC have always had healthy appetites which have continued into their teens. DD1 was the same as a teenager needing several slices of bread and butter no more than acouplevofbhours after dinner. She and the GC are slender. As DH has always said…they must have hollow legs.

Think I might just have seen a glimpse of the sun but for how long?

Hope there are glimmers if not bursts of sunshine for all today.

Good morning from a damp W Kent. Yesterday didn’t go to plan as I decided to defrost the freezer which then took most of the day as things do now. So today I shall try to get out and catch up a bit. DGS5 is coming this afternoon as DD2 is meeting a friend.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, due to remain so for the rest of the day, so no plans to go out.

DS came down yesterday to retrieve his old keyboard from the loft, and luckily located it in a couple of minutes. But no adapter with it to plug it in, so he will have to get one from somewhere. Hope that DGD2 is happy with it!

Went out to the well-being cafe after lunch, and enjoyed some chatty company for a couple of hours. Shall not be there again till after my cruise.

A Sainsbury's delivery this morning, upstairs to hoover, and an easy afternoon of reading 'The Other Bennet Sister '. And may pick up my knitting and finish the second sleeve of a cardigan. Sausage, mash and beans for.dinner this evening.

Thank you for your kind thoughts yesterday on what would have been our wedding anniversary; I just miss him so much.

The roofer will come as soon as it stops.

It's DGD3 and DGD 4 birthdays today. Different families, different ages. I shall have lunch with the younger one. DS1 has his tomorrow and DDiL next week.

Yesterday we had torrential rain again leading to village messages “is the bridge open?”. Possibly not when the water gets down from the dale.
Some light housework today and some sewing. I’m hoping to get out for a walk too.

Ash, I think you may have to inform your car insurance company of your situation, as your consultant is legally obliged to contact the DVLA . That is what I was advised by my cardiologist.

Yesterday's dental visit was a bit unsettling. I have had a painful spot inside my cheek for ages, which isn't healing. Many photos were taken. If it hasn't improved in the next fortnight, more investigations will be done. Oh dear.
I thought to myself, blo*dy hell, what next?😡
To be honest, I think I am biting it during the night, when I have night terrors. I don't think the dentist was convinced!
I walked into the baker's next door and treated myself and DH to a cake! My life is too short. 😉

A quick hello/goodbye from the Angus coast where, wonder of wonders, it has stopped raining and a shaft of sunlight is breaking through the clouds. But that strong wind is still coming in off the North Sea so it's still winter coat weather. Anyway, I hope you are all well - and glad to note that grandmattie has returned safely from her Greek Odyssey.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm finding it very difficult to adapt to this clock change - hence my rush to post this morning (I allowed myself another half hour in bed)!
So I'm off to tai chi soon with fingers crossed that I'm a bit more alert this morning than I was for the Tuesday class. Wish me luck. or send sympathy to the class 😉
