Just been told off by the dishwasher monitor!

No! No dishwasher monitor in our house.
No need ...... No dishwasher!!

...when I look after the GCs at my DSs I can empty but never load his dishwasher. Even the GCs know it has strict rules and we don't understand them!!

Same here at my daughter's.
I'm happy to unload the dishwasher, and my granddaughter tells me which cupboard everything goes in.
Loading I leave to them as they'd only have to rearrange it all afterwards, so it's not actually that helpful if I try and do it!

My girl used to unload her sink if I was washing up for her.

The dishes had to be stacked in a certain way as they waited to be washed.

Ive never owned a dishwasher (not really worth it for a single person) but anyone who "told me off" in my own home would be out the door pretty quickly.

Some years ago when I was renting a snippy estate agent (who called herself an office manager) told me the furniture could do with a dust. I told her "Its my bl***y furniture so mind your own bl***y business" and ordered her out.

I dont take orders from some little typist with a couple of GCSEs.

I don't take orders from anyone, whatever and how many qualifications they have.
(Unless it's my bosses, who pay my wages)

And the cutlery has to be in the right order!
I'm not being ultra-fussy, it just makes it easier to unload.

Yes mine has the cutlery tray at the top too andDH will put the cutlery in all mixed up. I mean knives amongst the spoons, what's that about? It's because he just plonks whatever he's holding in the next available slot. Given that he empties it far more than me I shouldn't be bothered but I do rearrange as far as possible to group like items together.

If you want to rent a property out, the least you could do is get a cleaner in first, surely?

No arguments here, I do all the washing up and dishwasher stacking. My husband does all the cooking. Suits us perfectly.

Just as you repair one appliance the next one breaks down.....!

Have you checked the salt as our Siemens won’t operate if it gets low?We use all in one tablets but it requires the salt to work. Dh had to go through the instruction book to find this out. I was set to get a new one.

It seems that I am no longer to be trusted, especially with putting in bowls which have been used to heat baked beans in the microwave.......

I'm not keen to be told. I'd flounce silently, the dim monitor would be in the kitchen alone -- doing the dishes.

I don’t even know how to turn ours on 😁 Mr K reckons he’s an expert so suits me fine. Just wish he could cook 😉

Although if I knew an inspection was due I'd probably flick around with a feather duster. Nothing too strenuous.

Only I can load !I dishwasher! My DDiL isn't seen for dust when I arrive. So the kitchen is mine! She usually gets about 4 things at a time in the dishwasher. DD quite happy for me to load hers.

Has been known to happen.

I read about a few deaths in one year (one an elderly lady and two children) when buying my first dishwasher. Immediately, chose a machine with a top cutlery drawer.

That was over 30-years ago. Now on my third.

Much prefer the layout anyway.

Is thedishwasher the thing in the kitchen that clean stuff comes out of ? Never used it ..vaguely remember being told of about something when newly married ..haven't touched it since 38 yrs and counting

Yes, this is what happens in our house too. He has gradually learnt what should not be dishwashed but if there's something new I might let him know whether it is d/w safe.
I think I could probably get more in per load but seldom interfere as I'm grateful to have it done.
If I'm cooking a meal for more than just the two of us he is promoted to sous chef!

Other people look very confused if they try to help by loading the dishwasher.

Mine too, it's so much easier to unload if you put it in methodically.

Yes, we used to have this problem with our Siemens. You can actually set it to use virtually no salt by going into the settings and telling it you have very soft water.

My dishwasher! My way! I have no DH so no problem. I remember once though, my mother told .me off for the way I had set up the ironing board and iron. She was right-handed and I'm left handed! To be fair she often helped ( unasked ) with the ironing. However I did reply - my house, my rules, my ironing board , my way!

Why is it that only when OH empties the dishwasher the kitchen floor always ends up wet and slippery. ?

My husband who had never lifted a cup before retirement is now the worlds greatest expert in how to load a dishwasher.It is annoying to say the least!

Now, I have never had this problem, as I a) have never owned nor wanted a dish-washer, and b) because the same rule applied to washing-up as to driving.

In other words, the person actually at the washing-up basin or the steering wheel was in charge and no comments were welcomed nor tolerated from whoever was drying, taking up space in the kitchen or occupying the passenger seats of the car.
