Just been told off by the dishwasher monitor!

I used to be the dishwasher monitor too, then I thought it might put Mr. S. off so took my dear gran's advice and 'kept my powder dry'.

He's definitely improved though.

I've been told off too MrA usually loads it now but I sometimes load it if I've done a big cook or bake and he has been known to wander in behind me to check what I'm doing. I'm quite happy to leave it to him, and the unloading, while I do other things.

Sadly I don't have a dishwasher here. I do miss being able to stack through the day and just put the machine on at the end of the day. So now I'm constantly washing up a few bits and pieces throughout the day.
But after dinner if I cook he washes up. On the rare occasion he cooks then I wash up

I don't have a dishwasher monitor (thank goodness).
But when I look after the GCs at my DSs I can empty but never load his dishwasher. Even the GCs know it has strict rules and we don't understand them!!

I wait until DH ( dishwasher monitor) is out of the way and I reload it. He hasn't a clue!

Well, my DH seems to have missed the memo altogether! In fact he doesn't seem to even know where it is. He just deposits items for the D/W on the worktop ABOVE said dishwasher. Drives me completely insane that he seems unable to just open the door and put the stuff inside. [He always does the bins though and appears to have has his very own recycling plant in the garage so I'll try to be grateful for that!]

Well and here I am thinking that my lack of dishwasher craft was a problem that I had never realised I had until dh retired. All those years and I never realised that I and my instruction book had got it wrong.

Yes, we do that too but I’m leaving my H to unload it now since knocking my shin on the corner of the open door and developing an infected haematoma and cellulitis. Two months later and I’m still not completely healed.

I get told off by my children for putting knives in with blades upwards. I started this after 2 cutlery baskets got damaged by having sharp objects dropped into them. Apparently I am risking death by stumbling and impaling myself on a knife

At the risk of sounding dramatic eddiecat, your children are right. There really has been serious injury and death through people falling on knives in the dishwasher. The collective wisdom these days is to always put them in blade down.

My dishwasher has a cutlery drawer at the top.
Other people look very confused if they try to help by loading the dishwasher.

I have to be my own dishwasher monitor but I do have the benefit of a puppy pre-wash programme.

My daughter's new dishwasher has a cuttlery drawer. Her old one had the ability to lift the top shelf to three different heights (so you could fit her enormous dinner plates in).

My mother-in-law insists on putting her cuttlery basket in the ^wrong^ place!!!

I'm not being ultra-fussy, it just makes it easier to unload.

I used to secretly rearrange after DH had done the loading, as he tried to cram too much in and things did not always come out clean. Now I can please myself.
