It’s really been blowing a hooley for much of today, with alternate sunny spells and downpours! Had an email from Kew Gardens (we’re members) saying it’s closed today, because of ‘adverse weather’ (i.e, trees liable to blow down and kill someone) - which is a rare event.
Still blowing like mad now, but sunny!

Essex calling, we have had, torrential rain, high winds, hail storms and now the sun is coming out 🤷‍♀️

Drenching rain first thing, winds then a sudden fierce gust of wind nearly knocked me over as I stood waiting for DH to pick me up.

Later on winds, showers, sun and hail.

It's been blowing a gale all day here in Hertfordshire! Hailstorm at lunchtime, horizontal rain at intervals throughout the day. Poor old Joey the tortoise has sensibly stayed in her kennel, but because of the cold and rain hasn't eaten today. I may have to put her back in the greenhouse with her heat-lamp if it continues...

I just long for some warm, still weather for a period longer than two days!

Forgot to say our temperature was 11 degrees and an hour later 4 degrees

Ah well that is summer over for this year.

Fantastic sunshine all weekend, 29 yesterday. Much cooler and windy today, it's going to rain tomorrow.

Oh yes, the rain is the first topic of conversation isn't it. We have had sunny spells interspersed with torrential showers all in the course of a few hours. Poor souls are tempted by the sun to go out for a walk or a run only to be drenched. The winter was mild but it has forgotten to give way to spring.

I’ve heard a rumour that we will have two consecutive days now with no rain in mid Wales, I admit to feeling excited at the prospect. Back to rain on Saturday so I’m going to make the most of it.

I had been hoping for about 3 degrees warmer here, regularly.

I didnt expect it to be so, and havent got it.

I fare much better with some more heat.

Wind and heavy rain in North Wales. I feel as though it's been raining all year so far. I had the heating on all through March so not warm here.

Same in South West Wales! Brrr

The grass needs cutting but is too wet to mow. If it doesn't stop raining soon I will need to engage the services of Aiden Turner and his machete ................. on second thoughts

Oh, I remember Monty Don advising us to do that years ago, saying we should be expecting Mediterranean summers.

DH said it never stopped raining for a couple of years after he said it.

Frost indicator came on in my car this morning at 7am. Has felt cold all day! Midlothian.

So much rain and such high winds. It seems like forever. The occasional quiet and sunny day, like today, when I try to catch up with the garden (the roses were fed at last) - then back to rainy, windy and cold again. The weeds love it - when will I be able to give them their comeuppance?

Had rain, wind, cold and snow last week. I'll take a lot of convincing about all that supposed heat.

Thank you, Undine (apt name) and Robin22, for these thoughts. I have sympathy with the notion that climate variation is caused by factors way beyond human influence. 'Oh what a puny thing is man' to suppose that these changes are our doing.

Robin22 I agree, something is 'off', and there have been reports of cloud seeding. In all my days (and there are many of them!!) I haven't known anything like this. Yes, the British weather is variable but here in Gloucestershire I think we have had at least some moisture falling from above every day since November. I do not necessarily believe all the stuff about man-made climate change either. Yes, there is climate change, there always has been, but there are sources (sorry, can't quote them, but look through Youtube and you'll find your own) that show graphs displaying data that proves it was hotter in the 1930s, not to mention in Roman times, when vines were grown in Northumbria. Being called a 'climate change denier' is akin to heresy these days, and there are scientists who have lost their reputation, livelihood and maybe more through coming out and saying such things. Why would so many (and there are plenty) do that unless they believed it and had data to back it up? What makes me most suspicious is the lack of debate - effectively no free speech on this issue and the media all parroting the same stuff. My only plea is - ask questions!
