Inexplicable things

Gosh no. But I'd like to!

My friend and I had been out for the night, got off the bus in a built up (ish) area, then both saw a black panther!!!

In 1978 I and my boyfriend were walking home and holding hands tightly. We were 19 and police officers and not drunk or mucking about. It was foggy and about 9.30 on a winter’s evening. Had to cross a dual carriageway at a popular crossing place. I remember standing there for a while until it was safe to cross. We were hit by a car and he was killed outright. I was hit on my chest somehow, I had a massive bruise but nothing else. I was nearer to the car so why did he die and I survive. At the coroner’s court it turns out the driver was in his 80s and driving without lights. To this day I still cannot understand why I was spared when I should have sheltered my boyfriend with my body as we were very similar in size. I think this defies explanation.

Definitely seen a big cat, we lived in a barn in rural Lancashire, one morning I opened the curtains to see what was certainly a big cat (black) stalking across the field opposite.
Sadly it was before the days of camera phones.

How awful whethertomorrow

I always feel sorry for that poor, caged, (supposed) last thylacine. I’m hoping some of these recent sightings are real.

Whethertomorrow so so shocking but as for you being spared, well you were, luckily, and needed for some greater purpose? or completely random.

There are many things which cannot be explained rationally. I am happy to accept that there is still so much that we do not know.

I have not seen a large cat although I once spotted a wildcat in the far north of Scotland. No camera but it had all the features.

It's awful watching it trying to get out of its enclosure.

I'd like to think there is some truth to the rumours that it is still around.

Where my ex lived, people were quite matter of fact about having seen them.

I remember them at Colchester zoo, when I was a child.

Both of these are true stories,
Two things: One- Years ago my hubby and I were homeless for nearly 2 years so we lived in/from our car. Both working full time.

We'd park the car in the woods at night. I'm not a driver so I laid my seat flat then put my feet up on the dashboard and hubby did the same in his driver seat.

One night I had a terrifying dream where we were in the car but there were 2 huge red demonic eyes watching us from the front with a really evil atmosphere. It was a horrible dream and I couldn't get out of it. In the morning when we woke up I burst into tears and told hubby, who then told me he had exactly the same dream and he was really scared too and couldn't get out of it. We think maybe one of us had the dream then somehow accidentally sent it to the other one.

Two- Hubby told me that years before we met, he was driving around as a mobile salesman and was driving in/around Pendle Hill, Lancashire. He spent several days at a time on the road and couldn't always afford B&B's so would just park up for the night in the car.

This time it was wintery and freezing cold and he'd discretely park on the edge of a farmers field for the night, just around the edge by the hedge. He got all tucked in, doors/windows locked and nodded off.

Sometime during the early hours he was suddenly woken by his car being shaken violently and he heard the most horrible noise that he couldn't explain, he's 5'9, 18 stone and ex-army bomb disposal so there's not a lot that scares him but that time he was petrified.

He immediately yanked his feet off the dashboard, switched on all the lights, beeping his horn and drove out of there at supersonic speed with whatever it was chasing him, straight up the road shaking with fright for several miles. He eventually pulled over and burst into tears, shaking violently and in shock. Thankfully ''the thing '' stopped chasing him as soon as he speeded out of the field and through the hedge,

He made quiet enquiries with farmers a few days later about if they had any escaped bulls, cows etc. and none of them did. He said he's never ever heard any animal making that sort of noise, whatever it was was massive and could have easily turned his car over. He paid the farmer for his damaged hedge.

He went back to that spot during the daytime ... very carefully ... with a farmer and spotted strange non-human footprints that neither he or the farmer could identify ...

The evening before my mother's funeral my husband and I were just sat in our lounge watching TV.
It was a calm Spring evening, only about 6ish so still light. There was a freak gust of wind which made us both look up and we saw an empty black plastic garden pot spinning around in one spot right against the window like it was on a string. It spun whilst keeping upright, on the spot faster and faster and then zipped off in a straight line. We had a walled garden but I never found that pot though I ran straight outside after it zoomed off!
Both my husband and I said neither of us would have believed the other if we hadn't both seen it.
I took it as a sign I needed to put more pots of flowers out for her funeral so I lined the driveway with them as much as I could!

Many years ago my husband and I were walking over the hills near Therfield when I spotted a big black “cat” going up a field. It was the size of a panther. To this day my husband still thinks I was imagining things - I wasn’t !!!!!!!

I was at a picnic with a group of mums when a mini tornado hit me. It was the oddest feeling, it only hit me and took my son's shoes which were not near me. It was like we were being targeted. It was very odd.

I saw a wild cat (chat forestiere) near my house the other day. And a nightingale was on my birdfeeder last week. I'd heard them but never seen one. I had to look it up as i had imagined it to be black, it was a light tan.

Recently I saw a wild mink on a river bank near here.

When I was a child we lived in a large old house . In one of the attics there was a terrible atmosphere /presence . There were pictures of features in churches lent up against the wall . They were in black and white and seemed to add to the sinister feeling about the place . You could also sense things as you passed the door to the attic on the landing below .

Wildcats are so rare in Scotland now as they've interbred with domestic cats. Our neighbours have a crossbreed which was rescued as a kitten somewhere near Aberdeen.
I feed her when they are on holiday and confirm she is quite wild. She is shy and does not like being stroked.

My ex husband woke me up one night in the early hours when it was just about light. He'd been to the loo in the bathroom overlooking the main road. There was a big black panther like animal sitting near a fence on the other side of the road. I noted where its head reached to on the fence, then ran to get my camera (before camera phones), and opened the front door to take a photo but it had gone. This was in a town where there had been at least two other sightings that I had heard of over the years. I measured the fence the next morning and it could not have been an ordinary cat. It did seem a bit surreal at the time though.

My sister lives in Devon countryside. The local vet who is a friend of hers has often seen 'big cats'.

Someone mentioned mink - we see them quite often here as live right next to the river.

One night we saw a golden coloured animal run into the bush down in Gippsland. It didn’t look like a dog, more like a huge cat. That was about 1999, never saw it again. We didn’t report it because we thought no one would believe us. I thought maybe an escaped zoo animal at the time.

My husband and I stayed at my sister's house. At about 4 in the morning, both my husband and I heard somebody walk down the stairs, past our bedroom before opening the squeaky front door and closing it again. We assumed that our BIL had been called out in the night so went back to sleep. However, in the morning the BIL was tucked up in bed and had never left the house, neither had anyone else. My sister said that she often felt that somebody was standing directly behind her but there was never anyone there so she thought it was a ghost.

When my mother died, for various reasons,I slept in her bed for a while ( she died at home but not in her bed ) and I was woken several nights by a feeling of the bed quite strongly vibrating for several minutes. I obviously don't know for sure if it was my mother but I do know she strongly believed in the afterlife. A few other strange things happened after that for a while but nothing in recent years unfortunately.

I also saw a large ish black cat ( definitely too big to be a domestic cat) crossing a country lane in W Sussex near Plumpton Racecourse. It disappeared under a hedge but it was the tail that convinced me it wasn't a regular moggy.

The cat I saw was not a moggy, either, and people have suggested it was a big dog, perhaps.

It was totally feline, though, and it made my hairs stand up, (probably literally!) and my eyes fill up with tears, even before I saw it. I could sense it.

I was glancing out of the windows on to the lane and I saw something moving. I grabbed my phone as I was aware of big cat stories. It was a very thin dog. I got a lead and put her in the garden. She ate and drank. I phoned rspca , they took her straight to the vet as she was so thin. She had had puppies so not sure wether she had been dumped or escaped. Her nails were long . I was ready for a big cat but found a poor dog.

I think children see strange things, or perhaps interpret what they see in a strange way. One of my children (aged about 2) used to regularly see a “monkey” in the garden, close to the window. She’d wave to it, was always delighted to see it, and would call me to come and see it too.

One of my grandchildren, again aged about two, once called me, thrilled to see a bear in the garden next door. Looking out of the window, I saw it was my female neighbour.
