Quilt covers advice, please.

Re the coverless duvets, can I ask anyone who has one, did you wash before first use? I’ve just got an all cotton one, haven’t used it yet. I usually wash sheets etc before first use but wondering whether to bother with the coverless duvet?

Pen50, do they shrink when you wash them?

Have a look at Justlinen website. They have some lovely quality bedding that lasts and lasts. Costs a bit more but high quality, easy care fabrics from companies like Sanderson, Christy, Dorma and Sheridan, and more. They have some great discounts too.

I had to take edoxaban 2 years ago. My body became "smelly" to me (not horrible but noticeably odd)... I was the only one who could smell me!
I asked the doctor about it when i had a check-up.. nothing. Not on the side-effects.

Not my husband nor the 4 adult children I asked, nor my close friend could smell it...
It was very odd.

I stopped noticing it and then was very ill recently and sniffed it again! 😱

Still nobody else can smell it!

I have given up.

No idea why this is so..? Especially when not well? I can't smell it now I'm recovering.

I've even wondered if it's some kind of phenomena to do with my brain.

I have had two very expensive Dorma 100% cotton sheets/duvet covers which were beautifully soft and cosy but they did not last that long, becoming very thin and eventually tearing. They did last a few years. On my bed at the moment are my mother’s M&S polycotton ones bought I think in the 1950s: white with tiny brown flowers and a brown top edge and pillow cases that feel lovely, still do not need ironing and I do not think will ever wear out!

Ca n you wear cotton socks at night? I often wear socks as my feet get so cold.

I can tell these stinky feet are going to work out costly.

Put a top sheet on then the quilt...saved having to wash the quilt/duvet cover do much too...

I wash mine every week at 40° which might not be hot enough for you redridinghood but I think it'd the recommended temperature. I know we're being told to wash everything at a much cooler temperature these days - not every modern fabric can stand 60°.

Sounds as if you need a pure cotton duvet cover, I bought a lovely one in TKMaaX if you have one near you. They keep up with the current season so you may be lucky to find a spring bargain.

Think you only need two , one on and one in the wash.

I'm another for whom coverless duvets have been a game changer. I have fibromyalgia and was sick of the weekly struggle with super king duvet covers. I started with a super king summer weight duvet & it was brilliant & fitted easily into my washer & was dry in no time, either on the line or in the drier. I wanted a winter weight one but they don't do a super king as it would be too big for a domestic washing machine so DH & I decided we'd have a single each. Well, it worked a treat - no more duvet hogging by a certain person !! I've now bought single summer weight ones in a beautiful design and they've just gone on in anticipation of better weather & they're so comfy & feel lovely & silky. Both our king size spare beds have coverless too. I'm so glad I found out about them - not sure where I first saw them.

@Gramma Would they stand a hot wash every week? I'm very tempted. We already have two singles

Mine is cotton and I've never in my life ironed bedding. Hot wash once a week. We have two singleson the bed so he can have a thicker duvet.
I also have a cotton sheet so if I'm too hot I still have a cover. That gets a hot wash and changed twice weekly.

Oh, & they roll up tight into their own drawstring bag for storage & take very little room - mine go under the bed

Plain white Egyptian cotton from M&S. I've made patchwork quilts which cover three quarters of the bed and they look good against the white. DH irons covers and pillow cases also towels and teatowels. All things rectangular in fact.

It's quite tempting me, now.

I imagined they might be big and cumbersome to store and wash.
.they'd take up less room than all my bed stuff is taking up, now.
