DH and I refer to his unmentionables as ‘undercrackers’. It set me off thinking what slang you use and why…

Presumably these are the green open-weave sort? The ones "designed" for hot countries?

SueDonim Mon 15-Apr-24 10:28:52

My 6yo GD now refers to her ‘knickeroonies’. I think that’ll become a family favourite.

There’s also good old bloomers and harvest festivals.

NotSpaghetti Mon 15-Apr-24 10:32:16

Gwyllt - my friends also called trousers "kecks". NW area. I didn't though - my family had a clothes shop so I think I tended to use different names for different types!

MissAdventure Mon 15-Apr-24 10:32:48

Knickeroonies! grin

My swimsuit was always called Bathers too, Hiraeth, and I'm in Devon. Mum knitted me one and it was deeply embarrassing. smile

MissAdventure Mon 15-Apr-24 10:44:51

They stretched when wet, didn't they?

So I've been told by a friend whose mum knitted hers.
