Due to arthritis mine are now to tight so am thinking of having them made bigger. Mr J has offered to buy new rings for me but I don't want to change them as they are really pretty. Some Women do I believe change their rings over the years to update them but it is not something I want to do. How about you keep originals or new what would be your preference?

I wear both rings on a daily basis (57 years) but remove my engagement ring into its original box overnight. Both are a little loose but not enough to concern me. Love them both and I didn't choose either. Just a sentimental old romantic!

Having been divorced since 1985 I prefer to continue to wear a wedding ring. Unfortunately my engagement no longer fits.

I had mine made bigger recently after not wearing them for years

Yes I do and I amazed that they still fit my finger after all these years.

Yes I’m still wearing my original engagement and wedding rings. We were married 55 years ago, plus an eternity ring my husband bought me a couple of years ago.

My original rings were stolen in a burglary years ago (I was 7 months pregnant at the time with swollen fingers). Now I have replacement rings that are really pretty but with no sentimental value. I recently had each ring resized to fit my now more chubby fingers.

My engagement ring broke and was not worth repairing sadly so we bought a new one and matching wedding ring in Orkney with a Celtic design as we both love Scotland. Next year we are planning to buy a matching eternity ring for our 50th anniversary and a new matching wedding ring for my husband.

Over the years with losing weight and putting it back on my ring has been altered , once as my mum had died I used her ring to enlarge my ring . The last time I did it the jeweller misunderstood me and my patterned wide wedding ring was remade into a simple gold band which luckily I love .my engagement ring is so thin I darent wear it it is 55 years old

In 49 years of marriage, my wife has only taken her wedding ring off once, when she was in hospital for surgery in the late 1990s. Her engagement ring lives in the safe and only comes out for special occasions. From my (male) perspective, I wear my wedding ring whenever I am out of the house. I have a signet ring which my wife bought me when we were engaged, and I wear that on my right hand ring finger, again only when I am out of the house. When we are in the house, both rings are threaded onto my watch strap - so I always know where they are.

My original engagement ring was cheap and cheerful as it was all we could afford 50 years ago It became too small and I now wear my mum’s engagement ring which is much nicer and 78 years old! I had a beautiful white gold engraved wedding ring which unfortunately I was allergic to, so had to replace! I wear both my (replacement) wedding ring and. (Mum’s) engagement ring all the time!

Was never given an engagement ring, I purchased both of our wedding rings and paid the seven shillings and sixpence for the licence. Both are still wearable.

Still wear original wedding ring although nowadays in warm weather my hand swells and it can be a problem. Couldn't afford an engagement ring so didn't get one until many years later when got engagement and eternity ring together which I wear on other hand. Then for 40th anniversary DH wanted to buy me a ruby eternity ring but I decided on saphire instead because of the unethical way rubies are generally mined. Only ever wear any of them when I go out of house never indoors.

I have combined my wedding ring, mom’s wedding ring and a diamond from a pair of earring of which I had lost one. I didn’t like my original but love this one

After a particularly difficult and exhausting day at the chalkface I turned the key to my front door only to notice that the single stone from my engagement ring had disappeared.
That ring with its blue zircon cost all of 10 guineas in 1969!
I did get it replaced with similar and still wear it, along with my wedding ring.

I still wear my wedding ring, engagement rings are practically unknown in Denmark, so I wear my dress rings sometimes in turns.

Just as some others,my wedding ring has become quite tight now.Part of this is because my fingers are a bit swollen, mainly due to medication I,m taking atm. However I'm hoping to come of this soon,so with any luck my ring will be a better fit.My engagement ring, solitaire diamond still fits but my diamond eternity ring is too small. If my fingers do shrink in the future I,ll wear it then!

I took my wedding ring off to be resized and thought had put in inner pocket of handbag. I thought better to try get off earlier in day rather than face difficulty later in the jewellers. But I never saw it again. I was having the kitchen remodelled and there were gaps in flooring so I guess it hopped off and is there somewhere. I bought myself a chunky gold ring, I call it my bishop's ring. I thought I had lost that too and replaced it only to find it in the car months later. I had taken it off before going swimming. I inherited a great aunt's ring but spent more than it was worth having claws renewed and a stone replaced. Lost another stone later so now dont wear it.

My rings are platinum. I wear them both all the time, but I can still get them on and off okay after 58 years. My ex-fiancé, as I sometimes used to call him, took out his pension contributions to buy them in a grand jeweller in Regent Street, a great memory but not a good decision financially. We should have bought second-hand in Kensington Church Street. Oh well...

I had my late husband's wedding ring made bigger so that I can always wear it.

frenchie Sun 21-Apr-24 11:35:02

We never got engaged so no ring but still wear my very cheap wedding ring nearly 48 years later!!

TwiceAsNice Sun 21-Apr-24 11:29:20

I don’t wear any of my rings as am divorced from an abusive marriage. I have kept all 3 rings and hope my grandaughters will like them including the dress ring I do wear every day. If they do there will be 2 each ( with the dress ring) for them to share.

JaneJudge Sun 21-Apr-24 11:22:49

yes. I had to have them cut off as I lost a diamond so had them made bigger and and had the whatever things are called redone that hold the stones?

libra10 Sun 21-Apr-24 11:21:57

I still wear my wedding and engagement rings, though I lost a diamond in the engagement ring and the band became thinner. We had a new diamond and band fitted, and it's still going strong. I wear both every day.

When we had been married for 25 years, we bought a sapphire and diamond eternity ring which I wear on special occasions.

I wear my wedding ring which has been enlarged to accommodate arthritis. My engagement ring was stolen in a break in!
