Due to arthritis mine are now to tight so am thinking of having them made bigger. Mr J has offered to buy new rings for me but I don't want to change them as they are really pretty. Some Women do I believe change their rings over the years to update them but it is not something I want to do. How about you keep originals or new what would be your preference?

Sadly, no. I only used to wear my wedding ring as the engagement ring was too delicate for everyday wear. However, after 56 years of marriage, my wedding ring had become so thin I was scared of it snapping so it I keep it safely tucked away.

You could have your original ring soldered over a new ring, to make a modern looking ring, even add a diamond. Or two. Do look for a working craft jeweler not a high street multiple

Rings were cut off in hospital following a bad fall. I already had the wedding rings which had been my mother's, grandmother's and MIL's so I had all wedding rings melted down for our Golden Wedding and two rings made in the same profile as my mother's.They are engraved with all our initials and both worn each side of my engagement ring.My two granddaughters will inherit.

Married twice and engaged once more. I didn't intend to do it again so I flogged 3 engagement rings, 2 wedding rings and an eternity ring. Used the cash to go on a cruise. But I met a widower on that cruise and we got engaged at Christmas so who knows!

Yes, I never take them off, although I suppose I should when I’m doing a painting as they often get covered in acrylic. I do give them a thorough clean a couple of times a year.

My original wedding ring was barrel shaped so when it became too tight, to have it enlarged would be difficult and would spoil the pattern so my husband bought me a new one on our 25th anniversary that was 36 years ago.

I haven’t worn my engagement or eternity rings for years as my fingers are too chubby. I also have a Ruby ring (Ruby wedding) and wear it occasionally. My wedding ring is sort of the original with added gold! I had to have it cut off a few years ago after a shoulder injury. The jeweller had to rebuild it with more gold as it had got very worn over the years.

I wear my wedding ring all the time. My engagement and eternity rings are worn when I go out.

I never took mine off for about 40 years. A wide ‘70 band aya diamond cluster in white gold.
Then I had an accident and my hand was so swollen they were cut off . We had them made larger.

Nowadays I often forget to put them on or my fingers are swollen and they won’t go on.
Nothing awful has happened to our marriage so doesn’t bother me at all.

My engagement ring was very cheap from Ratners I think. My wedding ring matched it. An elderly neighbour had to cut the engagement ring off when my fingers swelled up when I was pregnant. Later on I had it repaired. It got so thin over the years that I stopped wearing it. My wedding ring did wear through so my husband bought me a new ring. i chose it. russian ring in rose gold, yellow gold and white gold.
Not very sentimental about them TBH. Married 47 years.

No... My wedding ring got too small due to Arthritis. I have had about 4 now. My latest one is Rose gold with diamonds.
My Engagement ring was made for me, but I had it remodel about 10 years ago with my eternity ring diamonds incorporated into it, using all the gold from the rings, but I now can't get that on.
I'm into stack rings now, so completely different.

Pretty Victorian engagement ring went in a burglary along with a diamond set peridot heart ring which was a 10th wedding anniversary gift. Wedding ring cut off twice because of arthritis so a replacement engagement ring courtesy of the insurance and wedding ring courtesy of DH. Still wear my wedding ring all the time and the engagement ring most of it. It is physical evidence of having been married for so long.

Definitely, my wedding, engagement and eternity ring also my late husbands wedding ring. I still class myself as married even though my husband is no longer here. Luckily they still fit after 60 years. I had to have my husbands wedding ring downsized as it was too large.

I’ve worn my wedding ring ( which still has the pattern on the outside) for 51 years, and engagement ring for 52, though it does come off occasionally, and has had the claws around the stone renewed twice.

In 2011 when we married I bought my own wedding ring from a charity shop for £5.00 and it fitted well.

A few years later it became tight because of Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis so I took it off and put it in my jewellery box and bought one from M&S for £10.00. That too became too tight over the years so it joined it's sister in my box. Then I got an even bigger one from another charity shop for a couple of quid ... again, my finger/knuckle expanded and I couldn't wear that one either! Third sister in the box!

I can't not wear a wedding ring, it feels weird to me when I know I'm married so now I wear, literally, an elastic band! It's not tight, fits just right and expands with my finger and when it breaks I just use another one!

I was joking with my hubby about 4 wedding rings for 1 marriage and he said it's better than 1 ring for 4 marriages! HA!

Yes still wearing both rings but sadly lost DH last year so a lovely reminder of happier times.

rubysong Thu 18-Apr-24 10:21:37

Yes, I wear both. After 50 years they needed enlarging which was quite expensive. I took along a box of 'scrap' gold, which kept the cost down.

Athrawes Thu 18-Apr-24 10:01:16

I still wear my original wedding ring but I only wear my engagement ring and eternity ring on special occasions mainly because my fingers appear to be thinner than they used to be! I wish the rest of me was also thinner blush

I still have my wedding ring, my first engagement ring got stolen so I had another then that got stolen too. We just arrived back from living in France and we were out getting bits for our new home. I had left my jewellery box at my MIL and she got robbed. At the moment I don't feel like buying anything else.

harrigran Thu 18-Apr-24 09:35:08

I wear my wedding ring all the time except when I am doing housework. I lost the diamond from my engagement ring when we had been married ten years so the original can't be worn. Over the next 44 years DH bought me twelve rings with various settings and stones and I love to wear these, matching them to whatever outfit I am wearing.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 18-Apr-24 09:19:25

Still wearing my original wedding ring which I put on nearly 64 years ago. However my engagement ring has a problem with the setting which has become so sharp Icant wear it.

Smileless2012 Thu 18-Apr-24 08:37:50

I wear my wedding ring, engagement ring and eternity ring and would never change them. Several years ago we had a half shank replaced in the engagement ring as it was getting thin and I was worried it would break.

luluaugust Thu 18-Apr-24 07:42:32

I originally had a very wide band which I couldn’t get on after DD1 was born so I have had a smaller ring for the past 55 years. I occasionally wear my engagement ring and eternity ring.

Greyduster Thu 18-Apr-24 07:33:01

I wear my original wedding ring - can’t get it off anyway. The original eternity ring that DH had made for our first anniversary was a full hoop of diamonds. Some years later my three year old son managed to flush it down the toilet! DH bought me another for our fortieth anniversary and I wear it constantly.

cornergran Thu 18-Apr-24 06:36:58

I wear my original wedding ring, it’s only been off my finger once in 56 years, left in Mr C’s safekeeping when a hospital insisted. My original sapphire and diamond engagement ring is alternated with a trilogy diamond ring, an anniversary gift a few years ago. I rarely wear either indoors, always one when I go out. My eternity ring vanished three years ago when we were away from home, I keep hoping it will turn up in a corner of a suitcase.

Curtaintwitcher Thu 18-Apr-24 06:35:11

I stopped wearing mine when I got divorced, but they do still fit.
