I've had 2 wedding rings due to 2 marriages.

I only wore them for 5 minutes each.

Took them off after the ceremony and never wore them again.

I don't like rings

I haven’t worn my wedding ring for a while - it needs to be made a bit bigger but I haven’t got around to it. I’d never want to replace it, though.

I never had an engagement ring. At the time, dh thought ‘getting engaged’ was desperately uncool, so we just set a date.

However he more than made up for it by buying me a lovely diamond and emerald ring right after the birth of dd2, which TBH meant a lot more to me. Esp. when a non-Brit neighbour (from a different culture) said, ‘You got that for a GIRL?

I do wear that virtually all the time.

I have my original wedding and eternity rings, my engagement ring was lost and replaced about 14 years ago.

I sometimes wear them, more often I am ring less.

Had a 24 carat gold one. Flogged it after divorce, as was hard up. ☺

My wedding ring -yes. My engagement ring: a row of 3 sapphires separated by 2 small diamonds wore out completely just over a year ago. I lost the centre sapphire and all the mountings and the shank were so thin that the jeweller said that the ring would need to be completely remade with extra (18 carat) gold and a new stone - and the cost for this was astronomical. So I decided to hold off while I thought about it.

Meanwhile DH went off and bought me a smaller version of the ring set in 9 carat gold as a temporary replacement.

Then I went to an antique fair and there was a jeweller with a wonderful array of gemstone rings and I fell hook line and sinker for a ring with three large beautiful blue opals (I LOVE opals) separated by rows of three small sapphires. A larger more ostentatious version of my original engagement ring.

I have always worn my engagement ring and now wear either my replacement ring or my opal ring each day with my wedding ring.

I still wear my wedding ring in fact I've never taken it off in 53 years. My engagement ring was stolen, we bought a replacement with the insurance money, I only wear when we go out.

My fingers were much thinner when I was younger so my rings got a bit tight. Plus the engagement ring band was wearing thin from rubbing and couldn't be altered. I wear my old ones on a chain round my neck and have news ones for my fingers.

Sadly, no. I only used to wear my wedding ring as the engagement ring was too delicate for everyday wear. However, after 56 years of marriage, my wedding ring had become so thin I was scared of it snapping so it I keep it safely tucked away.

I still wear my original wedding ring and eternity ring, but my first solitaire was Victorian, I had it rebuilt after about 15 years, but the setting was so delicate that later we decided to buy a modern version. It sits in our safe to be handed on to one of the granddaughters.

Yes, for nearly sixty years. Lost my engagement ring, that came from DHs Granny, in a house move some time ago. I am always looking for a similar one.

How lovely B9ex!

We had our rings made bigger and the pattern recreated for our 50th wedding anniversary and they were then blessed during the morning church service. We then went off for a lunch with family and friends.

I stopped wearing my rings after I broke my left wrist 13 years ago. They were both removed in casualty, fortunately, they were not cut off, so I keep them in my jewelry box. I was very much thinner when I got married over 50 years ago so they were already becoming too tight. I now wear no rings at all and it does not bother me or my partner (same one that I married). I am not saying that this would suit everyone but I offer it as a possible solution.

Due to arthritis mine are now to tight so am thinking of having them made bigger. Mr J has offered to buy new rings for me but I don't want to change them as they are really pretty. Some Women do I believe change their rings over the years to update them but it is not something I want to do. How about you keep originals or new what would be your preference?
