Good Morning Everyone,
Its daylight but with a grey sky this morning ,and also that biting windchill .
The chilly air is somewhat playing around with my condition , as I a,m wrapping up clothing wise due to it , the longer it continues the worse I may feel , warm conditions is what is needed .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a bright but rain forecast South Downs.

We were planning to go to Firle today - a wealdon village under the downs near Glyndbourne - where they have a garden show, but given DHs back (if it is too stiff) and the rain etc - we will see later I think.

If not I have some miniature thyme to plant amongst the paving - the bees adore it.

Caught another mouse yesterday in the greenhouse, which I dutifully walked it away from the house up the lane etc before I released it. DH reckons I’m recycling them. Apart from them being smelly etc they are the dearest little things.

I am beginning to wonder whether I won’t be too sad now if I go out to meet some folk that I saw when walking Duncan. They must be wondering what has happened, although probably suspect the worst given his age.

ash my great grandfather was a blacksmith at Broadwoodwiger -a few miles down the A30 from your holiday home.

gg13 blimey! That sounds horrendous. Hope things get sorted soon.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony to the world.

Good morning from a grey miserable looking Suffolk. I thought we were promised better weather towards the weekend but it seems not in reality.

I’m off for a follow up with with a physio. The self referral system seems to work very well around here with no real waiting and all done either online or by phone. I’ve found it very helpful to have a face to face appt as I discovered that I wasn’t quite doing the online exercises first given quite right.

After that I’m driving to Wood ridge to meet a friend for lunch. This lovely small town is about half way between our 2 homes but the restaurant we have used for a few years now has closed. This seems to have happened to several places around here which must be heart breaking for the people who owned them.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Good morning all - no sun today.

We had a lovely time with little DGD after school yesterday. She ate all her tea te (very picky eater), looked at all the new books I bought her and played some hangman games. She’s a very studious girl , loves school and isn’t bothered about tv . I then took her off to Brownies where she had a great time.
Her big sister was/is just the same. Couldn’t be more different to their mum (DD) who is loud, bold and fun loving, chats to everyone who she meets and is extremely sociable.. When she is introduced to new people , she tells them ‘I’m the ‘quiet one’. 🤣.

GG what a ‘to do’ ! Talk about incompetent! Keep strong.

I had two unsettling messages - one from my good friend whose little gd has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She had to wait for 2 weeks to get an appointment with the doc and by then her sugar levels were off the scale. Now in hospital , hopefully getting the correct treatment. 🙏.
The second one was from my surrogate daughter saying her 6 week old baby has been diagnosed with allergies. It’s been a very tough time for them. 🙏.

Take care all 🌸

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's cold.
The buckets are still dry but the dehumidifier is filling up. An insurance assessor will visit next week though I hold out little hope of a payout. I was told it was lack of maintenance last time when another ceiling fell in.
I have no-one to fight my corner!
😒

On a happier note, my social and cultural calendar continued last night when I went to my DGS school concert. It was band night. Jazz and rock in cafe style. Far too loud lowbrow for his piano teacher who was sitting next to me.

A df for dinner tonight but work this morning.
Your cruise sounds great BS
Pantglas send us some sunshine 🌞
I am jealous. I adore that region of Spain. Cordoba is my favourite.

Have the best day you can everyone.

monk08 Fri 19-Apr-24 08:11:02

Good morning all from a cloudy Black country.
Finally I've managed to make an appointment at drs for DH it's not until the 1st May but its face to face, as it was surgery who requested we make the appointment in first place you would think you shouldn't have to wait over a month before being seen.
Going over to friends later this evening for a meal.
Haven't read through yet will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Marydoll Fri 19-Apr-24 08:11:41

Grammaretto, I too love Cordoba, which we visited also on our tour of Spain. Happy days!

Grammaretto Fri 19-Apr-24 08:28:17

A rather large piece of my heart will always be in Spain.

I lived between there (my maternal family home) and where I am now (home with DH) for over 10 years. I clocked up more air miles than the Duke of York aka airmiles Andy

My darling sister went to primary and senior school in Spain and is fluent in Spanish, English and a good grasp of several other European languages.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 19-Apr-24 08:34:51

Oops posted too early…

Our middle boys were accustomed to going to sleep in U.K. and waking up in Spain. I would get them up without waking all the way through airport, on the plane etc., and they would often sleep through landing 🤣🤣🤣

I was so lucky, they can still sleep anywhere and through anything.

Georgesgran Fri 19-Apr-24 08:39:55

Good morning from Durham. The usual weather here. Not a day goes by without either a wet start or a wet finish and cold too. I knew I shouldn’t have bought a ragtop car!!
More problems with Octopus yesterday. I’m disappointed, having frequently sung their praises. Left hand, right hand comes to mind - however the problem remains.
I’m feeling better, so coffee with a friend first, then petrol and off to Newcastle for a wander - maybe a new swimsuit for my hols.
Being so close, I’ll see both DGSs if I can and I’m sure DD2 will have a mountain of laundry for me.
Some lovely sounding holidays being had - long may they continue and for those not feeling well, I hope there’s an improvement over the weekend.
Best wishes to all. X

Litterpicker Fri 19-Apr-24 08:41:55

Good morning from sunny West Sussex by the sea. Mick, it looks as though the weather is improving so you should soon be able to enjoy your trips to Bicester etc.
I spent yesterday catching up - with washing, gardening and my neighbours. I should have done shopping too but ran out of steam. The garden is full of forget me not and the bees were buzzing round my cerinthe, I had to prop the latter up with wire panels as they seeded right next to the very narrow path to the shed and are now hanging right across it.

Today I will do more washing - sheets should dry quickly in the breeze. Then DH and I will go to the allotment and see if it has dried out!

GG, what a nightmare. I hope your loss adjuster sees sense.
Grammaretto, it must be really hard to manage such a large property on your own. Much as I hate to say it, it does seem that builders and other tradesmen can take advantage of a lone female.

Thoughts with all those anxious for friends or family members.

Hope the sunshine comes your way if you are still under grey skies ☀️☀️☀️

Susan56 Fri 19-Apr-24 08:42:23

Good morning from Shropshire.Supposed to be sunny today but no sign of it yet.

I woke up feeling miserable.I am worried about DD’s health as well as dealing with my own health isssues.Usually I just get on with it but feel sad today. It’s been a busy week so I’m probably just tired.A much needed day at home today.

Grandmabatty a tricky meeting today for you.I’ll be thinking of you and hope it goes well🙏🏻💪🏼

GG and Grammaretto hoping for positive outcomes for you both with insurance and loss adjusters.Absolutely awful for you.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Greyduster Fri 19-Apr-24 08:42:32

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dreary but dry - at the moment - in South Yorkshire. I slept like a top last night. The pain in my hip seems to have receded but I would like to know what caused it. I will go back to doing my exercises and gentle walks for now. I called in at the garden centre yesterday on the way home from DDs to look for heucheras but they didn’t have either of the ones I wanted, so I’ll keep looking. It’s not planting weather here anyway yet.
School volunteering this afternoon. Have the best day you can folks.

EkwaNimitee Fri 19-Apr-24 08:46:08

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle. Marginally warmer...
It was a quiet day yesterday, pottering about with various little jobs. I had a Tesco delivery and the driver and I had a mutual grumble about the cold weather. We're all fed up with it!

Today will be another quietish day as I've woken with a bad head which I think is due to the bug I'm battling. I think I could be on the winning side as long as I don't exert myself. Always plenty of little things to get on with though.

Good luck with those meetings Grandmabatty and GG, be strong and I hope all goes well.

And wishing you all a good day.

Jaxjacky Fri 19-Apr-24 08:47:15

A late good morning from sun and cloud in S Hants. Gardening helper due at 9, plumber to fit shower tray about 11, Tesco delivery 1-2 and pick up grandchildren for an overnighter at 3:30, at least the skip came yesterday.
A difficult day Grandmabatty, I hope it goes reasonably well.
Your holidays sound great Pant and BS, relaxation and sun.

Gala Fri 19-Apr-24 08:57:22

A late good morning from, yet again, a dreary wet Sefton. A lie in this morning recovering from a very busy few days in beautiful Northumberland where we have been on a residential singing break. It was very cold, with a vicious wind but was mostly sunny. We sang under the trees, by a lake , on the beach at Bamborough & eventually in a pub in Sea Houses - much to the puzzlement of visitors enjoying a quiet pint. Back to reality today. Must get up soon to join my zoom Flow class. Rest of today will be spent unpacking & sorting washing. Due to the vagaries of the British weather a few days in Northumberland in April requires more assorted clothing than I'd take on a fortnight's trip to Spain. DH is just off to collect our greyhound from kennels & who probably hasn't even noticed we haven't been around for a few days. Most dogs give their humans a frenzied greeting. We get a quizzical look that says - Oh, have you been somewhere?
Must get up. Will catch up with your posts later Take care all.

Urmstongran Fri 19-Apr-24 09:00:57

and pick up grandchildren for an overnighter at 3:30, at least the skip came yesterday

I trust you aren’t planning anything worrying here Jax

Grandmabatty Fri 19-Apr-24 09:02:31

Susan and Ekwa thank you so much. I have my listening and not reacting hat on! I'm channeling my dear friend who died last year. She was a marvel in tricky meetings.

Taichinan Fri 19-Apr-24 09:24:33

Good morning one and all. A sunny windy March morning on the Angus coast - it doesn't seem to realise it's nearly May! Mick, the weekend is forecast to be warmer but here, at least, that means the wind will drop and then the clouds will conspire to hide the sun! There's no winning this year.
Feel better soon granny Somerset flowers
Grannygravy your building problem sounds horrendous - awful to feel so 'out of control' in your own home. I hope something can soon be resolved.
Tai Chi went well yesterday and the class did a faultless first set - a joy to watch. The order of the day is fine tuning now. Luckily (and at last) we have an international instructor visiting in May for a workshop entitled "Finding Balance through Tai Chi" which will give us all much food for thought for a good while I imagine. Pre-covid these workshops were annual occurrences, but this is the first one for 5 years. Thanks grandmattie for your suggestion.
Today is a hair trim - with not too much taken off. As always when my hair realises it is to be cut it settles down and looks its best ........ No doubt later today I shall look like a shorn sheep 😉
Whatever you're doing today, enjoy it - and I hope those painful hips all calm down.
Take care everyone x

Stilllearning Fri 19-Apr-24 09:28:53

😂 Urms, glad to see you.

Quite a few challenging meetings today, problems sound awful, good luck to everyone involved.

Hope you feel better soon GrannySomerset, so many nasty bugs seem to be around just now.

A bit of necessary admin this morning then lunch with friends so all in all a pleasant day ahead hopefully. Wishing everybody else the same.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 19-Apr-24 09:33:17

Hello Urms!
I dropped granddaughter at school, got back to son’s place and promptly broke the end off the front door key. There are key cutters around but they would require proof of ownership etc. I’ve let son’s partner know but I feel such a twit. Last time I stayed here I accidentally turned the hot water off!

hollysteers Fri 19-Apr-24 09:38:00

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly Sunnyside.
I had to call off my recital today as my accompanist was not well and it was too late to replace him. The organiser was very understanding and will offer some dates for the autumn. I hate cancelling things, but there was nothing else to be done.

It appears to be an appointment making day and I’ll sort out sheet music spread all over the dining room table,
Get well soon GrannySomerset, hope things get sorted Grannygravy and thoughts to all with worries 🌺

luluaugust Fri 19-Apr-24 09:44:30

Susan make the most of your day at home and have a rest flowers

Susan56 Fri 19-Apr-24 09:52:56

Thank you lulu

Blossoming Fri 19-Apr-24 09:59:57

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 10°C.

Yesterday started off sunny but it came on to rain after lunch, so I didn’t get my walk. I did get a decent amount of declutterring done and lots and lots of up and down the stairs.

Today I’m hoping to do a little more decluttering, usual physio and an afternoon walk.

Have a good day all whatever you’re doing 🌻
