Good Morning Sunday 21st April 2024

Good morning from a dull Suffolk but there are a fewnpatches of blue sky.

In spite of the chilly weather,lack of sun and rain in the last few days,the grass has grown very quickly and suddenly there are odd patches of cow parsley several inches high.

We have a wonderful gardener who cuts the grass,tidies the hedges and does anything else we ask. He always comes just when we feel we need him and I imagine he will be here tomorrow. Almost as though he has second sight but he has been coming for over 30 years,initially with his father so he knows the garden probably better than we do.

DS and family are coming later although DGD1 may decide to stay at home revising as her A levels exam start soon. DGD2 is doing her GCSE oral Spanish exam this week. These teenagers are the first DGC in the family to start doing public exams….many years to come as our youngest DGC is just 7.

Hope today is a calm and peaceful day for all.

We had a lovely day thank you Mary.Michael McIntyre was hilarious.We did a lot of walking, eating and some shopping.
The journey home was horrendous.Instead of the usual one and a half hours it took us nearly four.One hour from the arena to the tunnel which was closed then due to so much traffic another forty minutes to get to the other tunnel.We were merrily on our way home when we saw the flashing lights of roadworks and the motorway was closed.A long diversion and just before we got home stopped for a spot check by the police.One look at our faces and he said we normally would do a breathalyser at this time in the morning but you two look exhausted take care driving home.Nothing planned for today!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire but I wish the wind would drop a bit. Yesterday I went out and bought a couple of new plants for my rockeries and put them in place. Things are starting to take off in the garden now. I was just finishing preparing my dinner last night when I dropped a tub of lemon and dill sauce I had been heating in the microwave. It bounced on the floor and splashed spectacularly over the cabinets on both sides of the kitchen, so before I could eat, I had a biggish clean up job to do! I’ll go over it all again this morning. I have noticed lately that I’m not good at keeping hold of things! Hopefully no mishaps today.

Good Morning from a rather dull Co Armagh , my weather ap tells me it’s sunny !
I stripped the bed before opening the blinds and have the duvet on a quick wash , I think I’ll have to use the spare bed duvet tonight
Mass at 10 then no plans , I might sew some more seeds , I love seeing them sprout , then wonder where I’m going to plant them all !
One crochet throw is done and donated , I’ll start another , I’m trying to use up my stash

Good Morning on this lovely sunny Spring day.

Have come back to bed with a mug of tea after an exhausting night coughing - and gather I am not alone. I am even more sympathetic to Marydoll and I’ve only had two disturbed nights! Hope this vile bug doesn’t hang around for weeks.
Painter is here to complete the kitchen and then everything has to be put back, though I might leave that job until Tuesday when my Wonderful Cleaner comes. I will have to feel a lot more energetic, that’s for sure.

A quick good morning from North Yorkshire. I’m running late. Have flowers to take to the churchyard for DH before the service.

I did an achy job yesterday up and down the ladder cleaning my porch frame. Postered around a bit and sat in the sunshine watching my new water feature. It has inspired me to sort out the old one.

Good morning from a sunny but still chilly northern wind on the South Downs.

I must finish clearing up after our family meal, as we talked late into the evening and I decided not to make a martyr of myself and get overtired clearing it up last night so will tackle it in double quick time in a minute.

Not sure what we will be doing today - depends on DHs back which is being very stubborn. If we are stuck in, I will repair to the garden😄. Still loads to do!

I notice the tomatoes are in flower, that seems early this year. DH sowed them early and they’ve come on like mad, along with the cucumbers.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Yesterday was beautiful but not so good today so far.
I even hung washing out overnight very daring but I have to change the bedding after my last helper and before my next visitors!

I've an 80th birthday lunch today. I am fretting about what to give him. We don't need things as we get older.

Yesterday I popped out early to Sainsbury's for more fresh veg--I'm delighted to be able to get English asparagus at last--and oddments that Tesco's doesn't stock. Then it was home for a long phone chat with my sister.
After lunch, it was out in the garden to plant a largish shrub, it replaces the beautiful but thuggish rose I removed earlier on. A large hole needed to be carefully dug and soil removed elsewhere, it's still hard work for my aging body so a quieter day today but that won't mean laying about on the sofa!

Morning from Giffnock where it’s DGS’s First Communion today. I came in yesterday,partly to help and partly because there are no trains on our line on a Sunday just now, due to engineering works. There is a replacement bus service but it takes forever.

Mass is at 12 o’clock, only family for that but a cast of thousands this afternoon. Please God no rain so the many children can play outside!

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's bright grey and damp here on the Angus coast, with 'light rain' forecast for the rest of the day. Oh joy!
Nothing interesting planned for today, except that I must go down to the beach and see what access is like for our 'Tai Chi on the Beach' next Saturday morning - the winter storms have caused havoc with the dunes, eaten up chunks of the golf course and even undermined the esplanade and work is 'ongoing'. We may end up just having a cuppa instead!

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day and I spent most of it strolling around the Marina and trainspotting. Today I need to count out my meds for the next few weeks as I neglected to do it yesterday. I will also do my usual physio and an afternoon walk.

Good morning from a sunny NE, for now anyway.
Sister and BIL visited yesterday, my sister is ten years younger than me but she could barely walk as she was in so much pain. She had a couple of falls while on holiday and is covered in bruises.
DS and GD2 visited and I got to hear what they had all been doing during the week.
GD1 did some of the school runs for her sister which allowed DIL to work from home without interruption.
We had duck breasts for dinner with five vegetables, not everyone likes the same 🤨
After dinner GD played the piano and DS played the banjo but not together.

A quiet day ahead when I may take some exercise up and down some sandhills. I’m finishing the book for the next bookgroup meeting and it’s finally becoming more interesting…

An hour and a half FaceTime with my sister in the south yesterday, just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Rhodes and she is planning to come here next month for a break.

A later good morning from Adventure in Gibraltar. Had to be up early this morning as I had a tour departing at 8.45! We.were taken on a panoramic tour of the city, and up the Rock, where we had several stopping places to admire and photograph the view. There weren't many of the Barbary apes about, but we did see three or four - perhaps it was too early for them as well! It was very windy, and not exactly warm.

Thank you for your birthday wishes; I had a lovely day, including having my cabin decorated by my steward. A special dinner last night with photographs, and cake complete with candle....

After lunch I am on another tour, this time to a gin distillery; it will be interesting to see what Gibraltar gin is like. Hoping that the weather warms up a bit too!

Hope our Sundays turn out just as we would wish.
