Good morning it’s Wednesday 24 April wheres Michael today?
I heard the dawn chorus here on the east coast of Fife.

The weathers definitely getting warmer. That’s the weeds pulled out yesterday and I had a visit from a private carer who wants to be my PA. I’m not too sure if I like her but I’ll give her a chance ( she’s a bit bossy )

I can use my self directive payments to buy 6 hrs a week, then I’ll get out routinely I’ll be giving my present provider a weeks notice they’re not always on time they’ve been very unpredictable these last few weeks.

Every year some people who think they are clever post stuff like “St George wasn’t English”, he didn’t kill a dragon, “ etc etc.

Oh thank you you lovely kind folk. I’m going to Google all of these and take my time choosing. This (hopefully) will be a very special wedding anniversary for us, especially now - for reasons you’ll appreciate.

My wedding bouquet contained yellow roses too you see. My lovely dad is with me here. He died three years after this photo was taken, sadly. Too young.

Saying all that rose fragrance is different - my absolute favourite is one you hardly ever see now which is Constance Spry with a really heavy myrrh fragrance. It is pink though and only flowers once in June/July - but has such an abundance of beautiful flowers that are quite breathtaking. I so love it and revel in it

The Pilgrim and Constance Spry

Well, I have two yellow roses. Both climbing though. The Pilgrim which has a soft myrrh fragrance - but to my mind is absolutely beautiful in form.

The other is Teasing Georgia - which has a strong tea rose fragrance.

If you w ant a rose for a container and yellow - a good one is Bring Me Sunshine which has a strong myrrh fragrance, but it will need a biiiiig pot as it is a nig shrub.

The Poets Wife has a fruity smell and is smaller 3x3’

Golden Celebration (which I have) has a really huge bloom which is lovely but does tend to mean the heads droop somewhat and really is too big for a container, but you could give it a go if you really fancy it.

You can of course use a climber to up and over your door if you can get suitable support and pot in place. - then plant around the base with bulbs or maybe something that will be in flower on your anniversary.

Ah. I will look it up thank you Grandmabatty. That said I’d love the rose to be heavily scented too. I like to inhale deeply and drown in the pleasure of it!

Urmston there is a rose called Golden Wedding I think but I'm not sure if it's a patio rose or not. David Austin site might tell you

I love how you put the names of your roses Whitewave. I like to Google them. Thank you. I don’t have a garden any more but I do love roses, especially scented ones. Could you or any gardeners amongst us recommend a scented yellow rose shrub that I can have in a pot at our front door this summer? It’ll be our Golden Wedding in a few months and I think having one there would be lovely. The area is part shade - very early sun till midday.

Good morning from a bright Dunblane. Finally I have got rid of our old chest freezer and replaced it with an upright one. Less space in it but I can reach the bottom basket without hurting my back or falling in! In our 51yrs of marriage we have only had chest freezers and only three at that, must have made them to last in those days. Council does a free uplift of fridges and freezers and DS helped DH put it kerbside last night and it was picked up about 7 this morning, good service! I am excited about getting a washing hung outside to dry today simple things eh! Hope everyone on holiday have a good break and all the poorlies keep improving.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast on St.George’s Day🐉. Food shopping yesterday after being indoors for too long. After a big shop, I often sit in the car reading for a while. I always keep a book in the car. Living the dream 😁

Music club today and I’m singing Jerusalem etc for St.George’s day and taking cards for a couple of poorlies. Wish it would warm up though. That and fixing up covid jab is the extent of my day.

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 8°C.

I didn’t get out for a walk yesterday as it drizzled non stop which makes the paths quite slippery. I did my usual physio and some rather punishing leg exercises designed to increase strength and improve stability. A dry day is forecast so hope to get out later.

Morning all from Giffnock, several days here this week because of coming in early for DGS’s First Communion on Sunday. It went really well and we had a lovely gathering of family and friends afterwards, the only drawback being horrible rain instead of the sunshine we had been promised. Needless to say the sun has shone since.

Going to visit my sister in law on my way home. It’s not exactly on my route but since giving up driving, she is the most difficult to get to. I’ll see how this goes, the main complication being including a visit to Marks and Spencer’s for the bread she likes! At 89 it doesn’t seem too much to ask but it’s surprisingly complicated!
