Brioche buns for burgers

I hate brioche buns when used for burgers! Brioche is sweet. Burgers are savoury. Most restaurants don’t give you a choice and I rarely eat burgers at home and now can’t have one out either. I’ve even considered taking my own white roll with me. Who thought up this abomination of cuisine??

I don’t mind them, but then I occasionally buy sweet and salty popcorn too.

I love them with a cup of tea - bought some today, but where did I leave them? I’m off to find them - my midnight snack 😋

I love them with black bean burgers, tomatoes, lettuce, avo, and a bit of hummus. I make vegan brioche buns at least once a week. Our workers love brioche as well, extra for their take home parcels.

I make beetroot felafels and they’re delicious with a brioche bun.

I have to have gluten free brioche and it’s the one type of gf bread that actually works.

Ijustwantpeace2020 thoroughly agree with you. Burgers are not made for brioche buns, ever!

I agree with the OP. Brioches with burgers is weird, as is croissants with ham and cheese.
I know it's all a matter of personal taste but some things are just wrong!

Can’t abide burgers in brioche buns if I go somewhere that serves them I usually leave the bun. It just tastes wrong!

Joseann Tue 23-Apr-24 22:17:44

I don't really associate a brioche burger bun with true brioche. The latter is far sweeter. Brioche burger buns are just an enriched dough and work well with most fillings.
I'll give you one of my plain white rolls I make Ijustwantpeace to take with you instead!

It's like having a burger between two slices of cake - ugh 🤮

I love brioche burger buns! I now use them for bacon or ham or roast beef sandwiches, and yes, I know they're a bit sweet!

I agree too.
Truly horrible!

Brioche burger buns are an abomination. What you need for a burger is a sesame seed bun, nothing else.

Are they super bad for you ? They are very sweet but nice with butter and jam. I feel guilty eating them, though.

Thank goodness other people think the same as me. Burgers in Brioche Buns...Just No.......

mae13 Wed 24-Apr-24 04:29:40

Brioche buns - can't get enough of them. And using them for burgers is wonderful - it's no different than eating fruit cake with Stilton cheese. That's another bloody good combination. Yessssss!

I agree - brioche buns are far too sweet when eaten with a burger .

LOUISA1523 Wed 24-Apr-24 06:25:03

I much prefer a brioche bun with a burger ....really lovely 😋

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Apr-24 07:08:05

I am not fussed either way, I tend to buy the sesame seed burger buns but our AC always use brioche buns.

Joseann Wed 24-Apr-24 07:15:47

Interesting, (for me anyway as a breadmaking enthusiast), that it's the taste and not the texture that some people don't like along with a burger. Brioche is fluffier than normal bread, so it should soak up any relish nicely. How about toasting it first very lightly?
Some abominations of cuisine are poncy, but I agree with mae13 on this one.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Apr-24 07:23:20

Joseann I prefer to have any burger bun lightly toasted.

Brioche buns with a burger? Wrong on all levels, like eating a hotdog in an iced finger.......minus the icing.

And cheese.......why, oh why, do people think it is ok to put a slice of processed cheese that hugely resembles a slice of floppy, waxy plastic, onto a burger or anything else for that matter? I just do not understand it.

But give me a slice of rich fruit cake, the sort your grandmother made at the end of summer in readiness for Christmas, serve it with a portion of Wensleydale and a glass of quality red wine..........delicious!

Georgesgran Wed 24-Apr-24 07:45:29

DGS1 adores brioche buns - with any filling. Personally, I think they’re too sweet for anything savoury.
Brioche + Burger = Yuck!

Mel1967 Wed 24-Apr-24 07:46:05

Love a Brioche bun with a burger.
The best ones I’ve found are from Aldi - without the sesame seeds

NotSpaghetti Wed 24-Apr-24 08:13:28

mae13 NO - not at all like cheese and fruit cake!
I love rich fruit cake with Lancashire or Wensleydale but - as someone said above, brioche buns and a burger is an abomination!
