Good Morning Everyone,
Daylight but cloudy and cold and chilly outside here in brackley this morning.
Today, usual routine with bus to Bicester ,and coffee break and small shop as well .
Health wise , the chilly weather is not helping me , mind you compared to this time last year , I am not struggling or getting breathless when walking.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol. The sky appears clear and the sun is just rising. It is still very chilly.
After that really rubbish night, I didn’t feel so good yesterday and took it easy.
The residents enjoyed the orange and mincemeat loaf I’d made last week from a recipe I’d taken out of a “Family Circle” eons ago - remember that magazine?
The online patchwork tutorial was most uninteresting and I left before it had finished. As it was free to WI members, I didn’t feel it necessary to stay on to the bitter end.
Tai chi class this morning and dinner with DD this evening.
I hope today brings some happiness to you. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick, it’s good to hear that your breathing is improving, I know what you mean about the effects of weather on it.
It’s dry and chilly here in south Glos, I need to do a very early dog walk because a delivery is due between 8 and 10 so I have been awake for ages 🙄
Yesterday I over estimated my ability to walk for more than an hour by doing a walk that used to be a regular routine. The dog really enjoyed it but I struggled big time. Silly me!
It was so lovely to be down in the woods, lots of wild garlic and the bluebells are coming out, but the long haul uphill was a killer.
Today I hope that perhaps we can erect the shed. I have asked on the local Facebook if someone could give us a hand (paid of course), absolutely no response which is disheartening when so many people on there profess to be willing and able to help others! Somehow we’ll manage I guess!
I’m definitely having a G&T this evening 😄
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from a chilly Torbay.

Yesterday, I had a useful telephone appointment with my local cardiologist under whose care I’ve been since early 2020 when my heart issues began. He was pleased to tell me my test results from Monday showed no change since a year ago which was reassuring as was his interest in my TIA, identified within the past year. Thank you for the kind support for my medical matters!

The Wednesday Club quiz was excellent with all the questions being on Theatre matters so very interesting to the participants. It was delivered by a member who, despite being in her eighties, still runs the desk as stage manager sometimes, works on Front of House and as Prompt for our plays.

Lovely picture of Valletta yesterday, BlueSapphire!
I hope the weather is reasonable for your tai chi class, grandMattie.
Do you have a Next Door group locally, RosesandLilac? That might produce a response: www.nextdoor.co.uk

Wishing everyone a good day. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from chilly s somerset, goody there will be sun for an hour later

Yesterday was a very busy satisfying day, all spent in the kitchen, no sewing. I revamped an important storage area and decanted herbs and spices into lovely glass storage jars with bamboo lids and big readable labels on the sides and tops. About 300 labels were provided. A very good and practical kit and beacuse the jars are rectangular, they sit nicely side by side. There was a pack of sprinkling- top insertions but I prefer to just use a spoon

I made a carrot and spice soup but have frozen it all, thinking it will be fine for a veggie lasagne base. Recycling day today, good timing as there are a lot of empty jars. I ditched a full jar of honey, it tasted of chemicals and I have decided to stay with certified uk honey

I will be enjoying my kitchen today. I have kefir to make for the week and really fancy a nice warming bowl of easy-eat kitchari later, so I will be making that and probably enough for three meals. No other plans apart from the usual bed-making tidy up etc

Have a good day

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
It is my Book Group today. We meet in the village cafe. Our theme this month has been biography.
OH will visit his bees, I think and tonight he has his shooting club AGM.
I did a lot of WI admin yesterday, but I’ve still got the annual return to do.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from my cabin on the good ship Adventure, 7.22 here, an hour ahead, but we put our clocks forward another hour this afternoon.
We are halfway between Malta and the Greek Islands and should dock in Kefallonia this evening.
Still very cloudy - where is the sun?

Had an interesting coach tour of southern Malta yesterday, seeing something of the landscape and towns of the region, and then finished with a drive around Valletta. Another massive cruise ship was moored next to us, 6000 passengers we were told, whilst Adventure is rather small by comparison, fewer than 1000.

Dinner was spent chatting to a lovely couple, and then I danced the night away to an Abba set!

We are promised wonderful scenery this afternoon as we cruise the Strait of Ithaca - I shall imagine Odysseus sailing home to his long waiting wife Penelope as she fights off suitors by unravelling her embroidery every evening!

May we all have a good day and enjoy what it brings.

grandMattie Thu 25-Apr-24 06:39:24

Ash, I’m delighted for you that the consultant was pleased with your results. It’s always reassuring when they are happy, isn’t it?

grandMattie Thu 25-Apr-24 06:41:21

BlueSapphire, I read in the paper this morning that there is a huge Saharan dust cloud over Athens. Perhaps that’s where the sun has gone? East Kent might get the leftovers as it often does…

Susan56 Thu 25-Apr-24 06:48:59

Good morning from Shropshire. Not sure of the weather as haven’t looked out yet.

It’s been a busy week.Today we are going to Stafford to collect DGS1 from school. At least we have a later start today.I have an appointment in Stafford at 4 and then when DD and SIL get home from work we will go out to eat.

Good news Ash🥳

Thoughts with Kalu and Urms and all our absent good morningers.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Bellasnana Thu 25-Apr-24 06:52:32

Good morning from Malta where the sun is shining after yesterday’s miserable, rainy day. A high of 19°C expected.

My long day with the boys today. They are no bother, bless them.

Later I shall watch Rafa take to the court in Madrid. He’s obviously winding his career down now so any chance to see him play is a bonus.

Glad you had a good chat with your consultant, Ash. That must be reassuring for you and I hope you continue to do well.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

GrannyGravy13 Thu 25-Apr-24 07:04:41

Morning all, oh I am so fed up with feeling chilly, I am in desperate need of blue sky and the sun to warm my bones.

Gingster and I had a lovely lunch and catch up yesterday, but we missed our pal Sar53

I have to decide if I am going to Bluewater or Lakeside today, I need a birthday gift for DD, of course I shall have a browse for the GC and little old me 🤣

So good to hear about your cruise BlueSapphire , good news on the medical front Ashcombe

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset has clouded over after a clear start.

Yesterdays scan process took an interesting two hours. There were bumpy moments as my BP had shot up and the cannula decided to be shall we say awkward, more than two arms would have helped. Both issues overcome the actual process was achieved smoothly. Staff are so kind there, every action is explained in advance. No outcome yesterday, a consultant appointment in three weeks or so. I did as warned acquire a yellow tinge for a while which was no barrier to enjoying tea and cake before heading for home. I plan to forget it all until the next appointment!

This morning will be fun as we are having coffee with neighbours. We always find a lot to laugh about. Dust removal this afternoon which I truly don’t mind so a more relaxed day ahead

That was a positive call ash, excellent news. Hope you sail into some sunshine bluesapphire and the dust isn’t a nuisance.

With thoughts to all managing life’s challenges. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 25-Apr-24 07:12:45

Good morning from a dry, bright and cold Oxfordshire.

Lots of rubbish things happening here at the moment and sometimes a trouble shared is a problem doubled! So I will just hope it all sorts itself out soon and keep on keeping on.

Anyway the dog stayed over last night so a sunny walk later hopefully.

Hope everyone has a good day, hugs for those who are unwell or stressed.

Pittcity Thu 25-Apr-24 07:16:34

Good morning from a grey, chilly Colchester.
No plans apart from usual routine of changing our bed and visiting a supermarket. Indoor and tumble drying today 🌧
Love to all 🦩x

Gingster Thu 25-Apr-24 07:31:23

Good morning all and it looks dreary out there and STILL nippy! 🥶.

Yesterday GrannyGravy and I had a lovely catch-up lunch and chatted the afternoon away. It’s so nice to really get to know other grans. Sar I hope your journey went well , we thought of you as we lunched. We’ll meet up soon. 👍.

Today I’m off to London with my two old school pals to do a pottery session in Spitalfields. We noticed this venue when we were up there before Christmas. It’s a large cafe where you can paint, potter, create art AND have coffee/lunch/wine as you ‘work’. It looked such fun , my friend booked it up for us, now our other pal is back from her 4 month visit to Australia.

Good luck with the shed Roseandlilac. Will you get someone to erect the new summerhouse?

Ash good news for you.

Bluesapphire I feel I’m with you in that lovely cruise. More pics please.

Take care all 🌸

brook2704 Thu 25-Apr-24 07:31:37

Good morning from Inverness, it’s another dry but grey start to the day
Good news Ash
I’m meeting my pal for coffee later and then picking up DGD from school. A busy evening taking her to and from her after-school activities and then she’ll be back here for a sleepover tonight
I love hearing about your cruise BlueSapphire, enjoy every minute and hope the sun comes out soon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care of whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 25-Apr-24 07:38:54

Good morning from a chilly but, thankfully dry (at the moment) Co Durham.
Nothing going on here at the moment. I’ve been reading your posts everyday.
Today I’ve a hairdresser appointment this morning and our lovely cleaner this afternoon then Pilates tonight.
Glad your appointment went well Ash. I’m enjoying your cruise news BlueSapphire. I really should make notes so I can respond to you all individually.
Let’s hope we get warmer weather and some sunshine soon.
Thoughts as always with our absent posters.

Alygran Thu 25-Apr-24 07:42:45

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s a chilly start. As I’m at home today I’ve put the heating on.
Driving back from my evening out the ice warning came up on the car.
Some ironing and admin to do today, then back to my knitting. I may go out for a short walk later.
Good news Ash.
I hope you have some sunshine soon BlueS
Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Thu 25-Apr-24 07:50:07

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and sunny. We've had a few lovely days here. There's a cold breeze but it's warm in the sun.
Gingster that sounds like a lovely way to spend time. Cornergran 💐. You are downplaying an unpleasant experience. Ash I'm glad you had a positive conversation with your consultant.
Yesterday was a fruitful day. I pottered inside and out and achieved a nearly tidy garden. The house is also tidy. Dd popped in after work to pick towels I had dried in the tumble dryer for her. She's not a fan of 'crispy' towels. 😂 Apparently dgs1 is limping badly after falling at nursery last week. She's going to take him to out of hours care to see if he's done any damage. It's such a shame because he has just started football training and loves it. Hopefully it will just be a sprain.
Today I have an ironing to do which won't take long. Then a dentist appointment later this morning. I'll get back into the garden to continue the tidying. My drive is disgraceful with weeds so that needs attention too. Another dinner from the freezer tonight. Have a good day all.

RosesandLilac Thu 25-Apr-24 07:51:39

Gingster I’m definitely having someone to put the summerhouse up and I’m beginning to wish I’d paid the extra for having the shed erected too…. DH isn’t one to read the instructions so my patience will evaporate pretty quickly 😵‍💫
Ho hum…..

RosesandLilac Thu 25-Apr-24 07:52:24

Thanks for the suggestion Ash, I have posted on the Nextdoor site, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Sar53 Thu 25-Apr-24 07:53:37

Good morning from a very grey looking Leamington. The journey yesterday was long and I was glad when DD1 collected me from the station.
I met the new puppy who is very cute and very loved here by all 3 granddaughters.
We went to a talent show, yesterday evening, put on by DGD3'S junior school. 8 year old E sang 'Quiet' from the musical 'Matilda'. She was so nervous beforehand but you could of heard a pin drop whilst she sang. DD1 and I were in tears, she was magnificent. I'm so proud of her.
This morning we are going to watch her play Steel Pans at school.
I'm glad GG13 and Gingster had a lovely catch up. I'm looking forward to meeting up again soon.
I hope you all have a lovely day and perhaps see some sun 🌞 xx

Liberty Thu 25-Apr-24 07:54:28

Good morning all from another grey and chilly looking day. The friend I met yesterday and I were hoping to go for a stroll between coffee and lunch but the weather was so awful that weblurched from one cafe to another and spent nearly 4 hours chatting.

After meeting 3 different friends this week,DH was surprised I’m not meeting a 4th today! I’m off to my stretch class and then an appt with a nurse practitioner for a review and then home before lunch.

DH and I changed GP surgeries a few weeks ago and the difference in patient care and interest is startling. It was such a good decision to move.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Taichinan Thu 25-Apr-24 08:04:03

Good morning all. I'm almost afraid to say this, but it's a beautiful sunny blue-skied start to the day here on the Angus coast, but still with that cold north wind. Yesterday afternoon became glorious too except for that north wind
Glad all went well with your check-up yesterday Ash.
Yours sounded a bit of a marathon cornergran - as you say, a bit of selective amnesia can be deployed between now and the results
Mick I'm glad you're feeling so much better than at this time last year - it's always good to be aware of an improvement, particularly when you're not feeling so good.
Tai chi this morning again, where we're going to be 'tweaking' one of the harder moves involving balance and controlled speed. I know the theory of the move, but can no longer perform it anywhere near well enough to be able to say 'this is how you do it, so it will be a case of 'do as I say and not as I do. Should be interesting!
Have a good day everyone 🦋☀️🦋
