Re Robert Dyas, I have just been buying 3 lots of spotlights from them which looked perfect however one was shocking quality and the other 2 were damaged. I have sent the "shoddy" one back and re ordered the others. One of the new ones is as bad as the one it's replacing!
Like you, I thought it was worth going with a "well known" company but it's taken me five phone calls and twice as many emails to sort this out.
If I could have just drilled out a screw hole believe me, I would have done.

It came from Thompson and Morgan via Robert Dyas so I expected it to be a good quality item which it is. I have informed them and am waiting for a reply but in the meantime I went on You Tube and it showed my how to fix misaligned screws and screw holes. I got out my old drill and shaved down the sides of the two holes that were out of alignment, there wasn't much to shave off and I got them to align up and hey presto, all built and in the garden.
Not bad for an 81 year old pensioner.

I also never buy flat packs of any kind, but I have had garden furniture before that are just the push in type, no screw holes at all, just a click and fit carry on and I expected this to be similar as it stated easy assembly. I didn't know until I took it out of the box and it is my fault, I should have stuck it straight back in when I found it was a screw in type of fixing but I wanted it so kept it. Lesson learned.

Self-assembly flat-pack furniture is the invention of a particularly vile devil.
Screws too short, too long, missing, holes not aligned or simply not there. Yes IKEA I mean you - I bet your MD and execs don't allow any of that sort of dysfunctional stuff in their homes......
I think the problem is that the OP is 81 and having had the items delivered isn’t in a position to actually take them back?
As others have said, hang on in there and hopefully there may be a solution.
A friend’s garden set came with the wrong cushions, the Company then sent the right ones and told her to keep the other set as spares.
I suppose a lot depends on where and how your furniture was bought/manufactured Runaround.

I agree about buying ready put together or getting someone to do it for you.
I bought one years ago that was ready assembled. We have become too used to things coming flat pack and on-line. You don't say if it was an on-line purchase or not but I would never buy anything like this on-line. If not just take it back to where you bought it and ask them to assemble of give you your money back.
My daughter in Southern Ireland had a lovely "IKEA guy" who collected furniture from IKEA, delivered it and put it all together! He was very reasonable.
Not helpful regarding your bistro set but might be worth a bit of research in future.
I recently ordered a patio set but decided to pay the extra for ready assembled. I am trying now to persuade DH to make those m nd of choices and/or to get someone in to do jobs. We have a very good handyman locally that takes on these small jobs when he does things like he lays out all the parts first to check everything needed is there and it all goes together. He charges by the hour so it's usually rrasonable.

Did you pay with PayPal? If yes, give the company a week and then contact PayPal.
Made in China? They may well receive the items already packaged so wouldn’t know about the problem.
I treated myself to a wrought iron bistro set the other day and it was delivered yesterday. This morning I managed to erect the table which was not an easy job as it was so heavy, luckily everything fitted.
I then started on the chairs but the seat and the back would not fit as the screw holes did not match up so the screws could not go through the holes. I rang the company and explained and all they asked me to do was return it. I told them I was 81 years of age and it was hard enough erecting the heavy table and emptying the massive box without having to unassemble the table and repack everything into the box.
I am now waiting to see what they can do. It is a larger than normal bistro set. How on earth can they send out items when the screw holes etc. do not align.
So frustrating, I have got wrought iron garden furniture bits and a table in my room.
