I’m feeling much better today after a lazy day and a good night’s sleep. I am hoping to get out for a walk later.

Quiet day yesterday sorting music and house stuff. Long FaceTime with DD in the south and sorry to hear my BIL also in the south has had a mild heart attack and will have keyhole surgery on Tuesday.
I’m not sure whether to have a walk in the dunes or spend some time in the garden, the town will be very busy today and tomorrow.

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Lovely afternoon and evening with DS and GD2, she spent most of the time doing her homework but did play the piano too. She played Satie and Einaudi which she had played in school assembly this week, the school are celebrating their 140th anniversary.
DS played the banjo, he has quite a repertoire of jigs now.
DD and SIL arrived in the UK yesterday and will be coming for dinner.
I have been awake on and off all night with pain in my right shoulder it is really debilitating and my left shoulder is still sore from the vaccination so I guess it is going to be a fun day.

Plenty of weeding done yesterday. Easy to do with the wet ground. All rounded off with a well deserved G&T and a thrown together pasta meal.

I’ve had a few photos this morning from my daughter and her other half. They are doing a balloon ride.

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle.
Yesterday it was overcast all day and the air was 'wet' but not actually raining. Very mild and no wind for once.
I went out early to Sainsbury's for a few bits and bobs then drove down to the garden centre as I wanted a dwarf azalea whilst they were new in. I also bought some lobelias. I think I've had lobelias every year for decades! I used to rear them from seed but now I can't be bothered especially as I no longer have a greenhouse. In the afternoon I got them planted out, surely there will be no more frost?

I had a long phone chat with my sister. Like me at present, she is suffering from vertigo and actually fell over. No harm done thankfully.
Today will mostly be enjoyable pottering activities, the exception will be going over my electricity bills. British Gas are having trouble with some of their meters, apparently mine is not always sending readings. They are trying to fix the problem but, meanwhile, my last bill has doubled and it can't be because I'm using more electricity. It's a real pain in the btm!

Morning from high cloud in S Hants, great news gMattie he’ll be here a good while too.
Watched football yesterday with our friend, my daughter and our grandson, our team beat MrJ’s.
It was a glorious day and the washing, including four pairs of jeans, dried easily.
Today I need to re pot our baby Christmas tree and pot on seedlings, next week I’ll be filling the hanging baskets.

Good morning from a wonderfully sunny Suffolk where the garden has flourished in my absence,along with the weeds!

I’m out of touch with all your happenings which I hope have been happy and pleasant ones. I’m out of touch as I haven’t yet read today’s posts and none since last Sunday.

Our mini cruise was really good fun because of my wonderful friends but I prefer smaller ships with a quieter ambiance. Most of the passengers were considerably older than us but the ones we met were friendly and interesting to talk to over a meal.

Amsterdam was great with weather of 25 degrees on Thursday. We went to the Ann Frank house and museum which we had all visited before but not for more than 25 years when you had to queue outside for a ticket. Now it is all timed entry bookable only 6 weeks in advance.

We managed to get tickets for 7.15pm which included a fascinating talk about the Frank family and their history including their early years in Germany and Otto’s business. The exhibition self guided tour was verywell done and seeing again the rooms at the top of the house where 8 people lived for 2 years before being betrayed was as moving as we all remembered. A sobering visit made more poignant by today’s world.

We had a relaxing day on Thursday buying a combined hop on/ hop off bus and canal boat ticket. The best bit of the holiday is always the time we spend together which is valued more and more as we get closer to our 80s.

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here in Essex.

Last evening we went to little dgd’s dance show. It was brilliant!
So much work goes into it, from the teacher, the dressmaker, the girls and boys from age 3 - 18 yrs, and of course, the mums . what a wonderful time they all had . They had a mum/granny’s group who were outstanding . All shapes and sizes and they put their heart and soul into it. What a really feel-good evening. 💃🏻👯‍♂️🩰.

Eldest DGD stayed the night here and we’ll spend the day together. Not sure what she fancies doing but I like to spoil her while she’s here.

Talk of asparagus and jersey royals is making my mouth water.

Morning, all, from a slightly less boggy brae though it's cloudy and falling damps have occurred overnight. I'm stepping out of my uncomfortable comfort zone into the big world tiny step by tiny step.

Forecast is 10% chance of rain for most of the day, which generally means we're in the 10% of space where the rain falls. The season of pignut flowers and yellow pimpernel has begun. Yesterday MrB ('Toad') and I both managed to mow the part of our brae that he calls The Eiger (steepest bit and where I slipped on wet grass and broke my wrist last year).

Good morning from Durham. A dry start, but of course, the usual chance of rain later.
DD2 is coming for a late lunch, that’s an early visit to Tesco for me.
The Police are coming to see a neighbour later, I’ll write down some comments, but I really don’t want to be drawn into it.

Good morning, Mick and all. The sun is shining here in West Sussex but there is more cloud about than yesterday.

We had a glorious walk yesterday in Kingley Vale, an amazing yew forest, on the South Downs north of Chichester. There were butterflies (brimstone), wild flowers in profusion and a dewpond full of life. The walk up to a ridge and down by way of a precipitous set of steps, challenged my fitness. Note to self: must get more exercise.

DD1 and SiL were enjoying the sun in our small back garden, having been out for lunch with DD’s FiL. They collected some of our spare Euros for a trip to Berlin, and some bamboo canes for DD’s very vigorous looking tomatoes.

Another night of coughing and broken sleep.
Lucky those who managed outside yesterday. Here it was cold and wet.
I was glad to be indoors.
Your cruise sounds more and more attractive Bluesapphire although I have never thought it would ever be my "thing" .
I must prepare for the Quaker meeting this morning and possibly singing in a lovely old church this afternoon.

My DGD will be singing with her school in Dunkeld cathedral.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Spain, we are near Alicante, but a few miles out of the town.

Off to see the beach this morning, MrOops says it’s about 10 minutes to get there but it looks miles away on Google Maps, we shall see.

Then off to find a supermarket, the little convenience shop around the corner only sells the basics. We are in a residential area, quite peaceful apart from the occasional woof from a local dog, which triggers half a dozen more to start!. But at least it’s warm and sunny, so far……

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another overcast day.
I spent much of yesterday gardening. I got some new perennials and a friend brought some things she had split so lots of planting. Sorted the front border too, digging out lots of muscari. They had really begun to take over and were pretty against the red tulips but if they increased again the border would be swamped. There will be plenty oftiny bulbs left behind for next year.
Church this morning then probably a quiet day with a bit more pottering!

I understand your delight in a day of heavy work karmalady and can't wait to get back to that in due course. Meanwhile, today I'll do some sewing and if I can walk better than at this moment 😁 will venture up the hill to church at 4o'clock.

I’m looking forward to our usual Sunday face tine call with DS and then going to look at some new build properties as DD2 is hoping to move soon.
Lots of people on here busy in the garden, I’m also hoping to get some gardening done later today too - might have to fit in a trip to the garden centre first 😀

Yesterday was overcast all day, the sun didn’t manage to break through at all.

I love Jersey Royals Mick, they’re worth the money as a treat, enjoy.

We had a GC staying over last night, she asked if she could as she had a quiet weekend. Her sisters were a bit put out but they can come in turn, it’s good to spend time with them individually. I’ll go to Mass this morning, come home for lunch and take her home later in the afternoon.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and damp. GrandMattie how lovely to spend time with your son. Something nice to look forward to. Ashcombe enjoy your cruise when it comes.
Yesterday was a very pleasant day. My friend parked at my house and we walked to the station. It's uphill all the way but blethering helped make us seem short. In Edinburgh, we had a coffee at the Festival Theatre and sat at the same table as the conductor. He was a lovely chap and filled us in on the Christmas ballet. Yesterday was Swan Lake and it was good in parts. The Prima Ballerina was excellent, her partner not so much. There was one young male dancer who was outstanding and your eye was drawn to him whenever he danced. I think he's one to watch. Afterwards we had fish and chips at my house before my friend drove home.
Today I'll have to get food as in low in basics, so a trip to Aldi is on the cards. Then I'm having dgs2 for an hour while DD takes dgs1 to football. In the afternoon I'll visit mum. Have a good day all.

Lovely start to the day but rain likely later so it’s obviously too good to last. Good time with DS and co yesterday but they are off after breakfast as other commitments call, but I appreciate the fact that they take the trouble to check up on me. Best get in the shower before anyone else is up and about, I think, and make the most of the sunshine before it disappears.
