Prince Harry will not meet the King during UK visit.

Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.

From the Telegraph just now:

“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.

Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.

But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.

I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …

What do you think?

I know that Maddyone and thank goodness I do not have Royal engagements to consider. I still would like to see something that looks like reconciliation between Charles and Harry. Charles has been having his treatment over his recent diagnosis and happily he appears to be on the mend, it was nice to see Harry fly over and spend some time with him when that diagnosis was revealed. Some how when our family could look at ways to spend a little time with each other then it is a bonus to this life after all with illnesses to deal with and increasing age who knows when time can finely close the door to life.

I like to think that they could arrange a visit that was private too.
What a mess.

I understand 3nanny6, but unfortunately life isn’t always like that. As I explained, I’ve had to live with my sister’s cruel behaviour over some thirty years or more, and I’ve found in the end that it’s better for my own mental health to have as little to do with her as possible. This grieves me greatly, because she is my only sibling, but I’ve found over years that she cannot alter her cruel behaviour and so I simply have to look after myself. I have a lovely relationship with her daughter though, who I consider as a second daughter. It may well be that Charles needs time to recover, both physically and emotionally from his illness and the hurt that Harry has caused. It maybe that Charles will never wish to be with Harry alone again. It’s not for us to wish or want anything to happen. Charles has to do what he feels is best for himself and his family. If that includes a very remote relationship with Harry, that is his decision, and his decision alone.

The first time H came to see his father, it was announced to
the world, he was photographed at the airport in America, on
landing in England, video in his car going to Clarence House,
he only does front page

Maybe a bit OTT, 😁 but making the point that family are a priority.
I can't imagine my mother not being there for me no matter what.

But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

That was before the son apologised.

Anniebach Thu 09-May-24 14:37:25

Did the son have a phone hidden

The parable of the prodigal isn't about the priority of family, it's about God's love for us, His children.

I believe that despite everything H has done Charles is a loving and forgiving father. He is a devout Christian. However he has a very full diary and he also has cancer. He has only just returned to public duties and I would think that’s pretty exhausting having been wfh for some time. Maybe Camilla put her foot down in order to protect her husband from undue stress. We don’t know. But there was no need for H to have made an issue of there being no meeting when he deigned to come to the UK. I imagine his diary has far fewer engagements than Charles’s.

nadateturbe Thu 09-May-24 16:05:59

Well I'm pretty sure God wouldn't want us judging Harry. Surely compassion is better.

Anniebach Thu 09-May-24 16:06:25

Can Charles trust him, he has attacked William, Catherine and
Camilla

maddyone Thu 09-May-24 16:09:11

Compassion yes, but remorse is expected first.

How about compassion for Charles and Catherine?

Anniebach Thu 09-May-24 16:15:28

Quoting scripture? Honour thy father and mother .

Calendargirl Thu 09-May-24 16:22:36

I suspect Harry gravitates to the Spencer side as he has no one else really.

I wonder if any of them have been to the USA and stayed en famille with H&M?

Anniebach Thu 09-May-24 16:27:18

They are not known to the public so no use to M

nadateturbe Thu 09-May-24 16:28:45

We haven't walked in Harry's shoes. I'm sure he's not an evil person.
But obviously in the minority.

silverlining48 Thu 09-May-24 16:31:23

Surely we all know that if Charles actually wanted to see his son then half hour out of 24 woukd not be hard to find. No need to cancel a garden party, pop along afterwards for a cuppa. It’s not like they can do it in a week or two, they live tens of thousands apart.

Anyway it’s none of my/our business and will say no more.

Harry did greet the Spencers in a very effusive -- clingy-- manner. My guess would be that they hadn't seen each other in ages. Diana's sister looked a bit frumpy, sorry! She doesn't have the advantage of Diana's height.

Anniebach Thu 09-May-24 16:32:18

So much drama, evil who has said evil? criticism of M
brings hate fest, seems some have no knowledge of dislike

It was a spokesperson for H who said he was hoping to see Charles so no Dickens I don't think the media is partly responsible.

Nothing needed to be said but if it hadn't been, there'd have been no spotlight on H's victim hood mentality.

We're always the parent in the relationship true nadateturbe and parents have just as much right as their AC to look after their mental and physical well being.

Being the AC in the relationship, doesn't mean you can treat your parents and wider family so abhorrently and not be on the receiving end of any repercussions. That should be the difference between being a child and an adult child.

It was a spokesperson for H who said he was hoping to see Charles so no Dickens I don't think the media is partly responsible.

I meant partly responsible in relation to the amount of coverage that some give him and his visits - or even what he is doing in America.

There might only be a few column inches in some broadsheets but the tabloids make a meal out of it.

Well, maybe 8 of 10 on reflection!

silverlining48 Thu 09-May-24 16:38:38

Where do you see all this stuff joseann. I watch and listen to the regular news every day but havnt seen harry with the Spencer’s or Diana’s sister who I am sure is not frumpy (and if she is so what? ). smile

silverlining48 Thu 09-May-24 16:42:13

Perhaps lose the jacket….

Joseann Thu 09-May-24 16:42:16

He he, I'm a bit of a fashionista, silverlining, Town and Country is one of my go to sites!

Joseann Thu 09-May-24 16:42:52

Of course he’s not an “evil” person but he seems to be a jealous, self-pitying and vindictive one.
