Good Morning Wednesday 15th May 2024

Good morning everyone. A dull start to the day here in Sefton with rain forecast for later. I have washing ready to go in the machine. Don't think I'll bother. A successful but very wet trip to Cheshire Oaks yesterday. Luckily it's mostly under cover. We got everything we planned to buy including stuff I didn't know I needed! Zumba this morning but no Pilates. Then nursery pickup this afternoon. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a grey and wet Suffolk after a week of glorious warm sunny weather. I knew it was too good to be true but at least I didn’t have to water the pots last evening.

A day in front of the laptop which isn’t a hardship when it’s wet outside, although I find it more tiring than being out and about. DH will walk the dog and then has a routine visit to the vet’s which the dog loves! No accounting for taste.

Hope today is a pleasant one for all.

Am mystified as to why my heating, which is switched off, has come on so must investigate and possibly get the engineer in. There is always something not working properly - apart from me, I mean.

Glad that Marydoll had such a great birthday and that our various travellers are on the whole having a good time. I have singing and a covid booster to look forward to.

It is the U3A monthly lunch today. We are meeting at a riverside pub where I last went over thirty years ago! We will take two cars as OH is anxious to visit his bees afterwards! I can’t go with him as I don’t have a bee suit and anyway, it is a Wine and Cheese evening at WI tonight which I have things to do for.
Our gardener worked wonders yesterday. Amusingly, just after she left she sent an email apologising for breaking one of our pots!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dry but is not going to stay that way. As it is green bin day today I took the opportunity last evening to have a hack around the bed that divides my drive from next door. Because of all the rain we’ve had, it had become very overgrown with perennial geranium, and bindweed that is strangling everything. I shall employ some weapons grade weed killer to get rid of it.
Writers group at the library this afternoon, and a bit of shopping while I’m at the mall.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining.
My plan today was to go to the arboretum but I think it may be too wet.
The house martins are back, in quite good numbers . I love watching them swooping about. They will be nest building on the side of the house.
I picked up tickets for my holiday with DD2 to Majorca. Nearly time to get excited. We go in early June. I’m hoping the weather will have settled by then.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull 16°C northwest coast.
The music club yesterday went well, although it was a small turnout and I had to think up an extra song out of the blue.
DS trimmed hedges and jet washed the patio. My wood pigeons in the overlooking pine tree make such a mess.

DD got away early to her holiday with old friends and I had a quiet evening.
This morning I have my covid jab and am hoping I don’t have a reaction. I often feel rather strange after it.

Morning from Kent! Marydoll have you read the Marion Todd series of books - they are set in St Andrew’s. I enjoy all the tartan noir authors. I have a blood test this morning, my thyroid is playing up. I asked for a test in April, had the first one on 2 May - result listed as normal range despite it being ten times what is normal for me on medication. I asked to speak to a doctor and another test is necessary. I’m so difficult to get blood from - four attempts on 02/05! My op in October resulted in 11 attempts at inserting a cannula - the anaesthetist was mortified at his failures. I shall return bruised no doubt. My stiff painful neck is no better this morning, the chap doing the shower refurb went home and got me a heat pad he uses - now that’s service! Maybe when I am at the surgery, the nurse will take pity on an old lady in pain….

Bellasnana thank you. Dgs1 dropped off at the nursery and dgs2 watching YouTube while I have a cuppa. He's eating a chocolate donut and drinking milk so he's a happy boy. The early trip to Aldi went well because I put him in a trolley seat this time. I've learned my lesson 😂 . Marydoll enjoy your walk to Pittenweem with added commentary. 😂

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 15°C. A damp mild day ahead.

No plans for today, pottering about the house will no doubt uncover several things that need sorting and tidying. At the moment I’m watching a couple of house martins.

Stilllearning and I had a a great blether yesterday, the day flew in.

I’ll be forced to do a little bit of homework today then this evening we are going to watch eldest DGC play in a netball tournament which is always nerve wracking.

Yesterday we spent the day at Chatsworth House, touring the house while it was raining in the morning and the gardens in the afternoon.
Today is a rest day for me as my hips and legs are aching. I will lounge around and read my book and tonight we are going out for dinner.

Haven’t read your posts yet but will return later. Our River cruise from Lyon to Avignon went well enough but was marred by me catching a bug from the woman sitting next to me on the plane from Amsterdam to Lyon, she was definitely unwell but nothing you can do about it when you are stuck on a plane. I have been left with an awful cough and feeling tired. However I have now shared it with DH. I still managed the excursions and found Lyon, Arles and Avignon very interesting with some amazing architecture. I now know much more about the French Resistance and Beaujolais than I did! Met some lovely people on board the majority of whom were American. I think Viking are doing some serious advertising over there. The photos are literally “Sur le Pont D’Avignon” if you recall the nursery rhyme. Only half of it remains but a popular attraction nevertheless.

Sun and cloud here today, I’m out for lunch with a friend, then U3A monthly meeting. Yesterday I finished my last planting of containers, we had some hefty rain late on.

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. Blue sky, sun, and not too warm - perfect.
I took my 4 year old iPad to the Apple Store in Brighton yesterday, thinking a new battery was needed. Fortunately it was a software issue and just needed a complete reboot! DD1 had accompanied me as she had a day off so we had a good catch up while the lovely young techie worked his magic. We then went to check out some summery dungarees that DD had seen. She tried them on and they looked great so purchase was made.

Today I don’t know where to start as DH has, with my encouragement, sowed lots of tomato and squash seeds which will need to be potted up or planted out before we go to Scotland next week. I am hoping various neighbours will babysit the ones in pots while we have are away in Scotland from next week. And I hope it will rain on the ones in the ground.

It’s lovely reading of everyone’s enjoyment of spring - house martins, blossoming gardens and excursions. I am thrilled to have a nest of bees in a corner of the garden. I was clearing up there a few weeks ago and heard anxious buzzing and then saw bees flying round an upturned clay pot. I have left them in peace since.

Belated happy birthday, Marydoll. I hope you found something nice to spend your money on 😊
