Good Morning Everyone.
Its bright , dry but with a greyness in sky over brackley.
My usual routine of getting out and mixing with people in Bicester for a couple of hours .
Return , lunch followed by cycling on tv .
I also need at some point to sort out appointments on the NHS website .
Take Care,
Mick

EkwaNimitee Wed 15-May-24 05:37:53

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where the weather looks promising today.
I have a very early trip out so will just wish you all a great day.

Grandmabatty Wed 15-May-24 05:43:02

Good morning Mick and all who follow. Yesterday was a better day with dgs2. I managed him better and that made the difference.
Today is another early childcare day. The other grandparents are on holiday so I'm covering their shifts. Having the boys for four days instead of two is hard work! We will need to go to Aldi for some supplies this morning, but dgs2 will be in a trolley. It's the safest place for him. Dgs1 will be picked up by Dsil to go to football and dgs2 will be picked up an hour later by his mum. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a bright Bristol. Washing in the machine already. I’m on economy7 power.
I had an interesting day yesterday. I’ve been trying to persuade the management that the Choisya “hedge” out the front needs radical trimming. It was done yesterday! Turns out that it was only two shrubs which will recover fast and be easy to keep in a nice shape. An outside tap was discovered just under the hanging basket bracket. No more lugging heavy watering cans through the flat.
I shall get some more annuals today to fill in the gaps. I may plant some perennials too, but not ATM.
Today ,I’ve got morning prayers, then coffee morning for the residents and finally, the women’s group thingy where I have been asked to help out on the book exchange.
BTW, at the toddler group, y main job is to set toys out and tidy up afterwards. There is nothing organised. The mothers look after their own children.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Hola 👋 I’m enjoying the peace and quiet of my little 🇪🇸patio with the ☕️ before the hustle and bustle of workers off to their daily toil - so glad I don’t have to anymore although I mostly still get up early enough!

Belated birthday greetings to Miss Marydoll and Creativeness 🥂 hope you had a lovely day.

All those stunning pics of cruising 🚢 from Blue S and Ash have me hankering somewhat…methinks a perusal of the Saga brochure is due when I fly back to my north Wales nest next week. Even Mr PG agreed that a bit of autumn/winter sunshine 🌞 would be good so watch this space 😊

A shearing of the mop 💇🏻‍♀️ today with a new hairdresser, I’m always nervous and she’s Spanish so I’ve been brushing up on my terminology!

Have a good day everyone x

karmalady Wed 15-May-24 05:50:32

Good morning from s somerset, looking cloudy here, not inspiring weather

Nothing set in stone today but first I will get out and about for an hour, either on foot or by bike. I have a messy sewing room that needs sorting later

Have a good day

monk08 Wed 15-May-24 06:06:44

Good morning all from the Black country.
Early start DH is fishing.
I've arranged to meet up with two of my brothers in Solihull for lunch, chicken in the slow cooker so dinner will be sorted for when I get back.
grandMattie your toddler group sounds like the one I help at occasionally, we do some crafts with those that want to and have storytime.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

RosesandLilac Wed 15-May-24 06:15:05

Good morning everyone, it’s a dry and bright morning here in south Glos, long may it last!
No one turned up yesterday to build the summerhouse and when I contacted him he says he’ll be here today 🤷🏼‍♀️
I’ve given up being excited about it now, too many disappointments and the shine has gone. I really wish I had never ordered one.
The garden is looking tidy and lush, the roses are starting to bloom and there are so many bees on the cotoneaster that I can hear them humming from indoors.
Today I will pot up a hanging basket and put some annuals in my pots.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Ashcombe Wed 15-May-24 06:15:16

Good morning from a dull but dry Torbay.

After a very well organised disembarkation from Borealis, our homeward journey by train from Southampton went well except that DH has lost a tooth! Bits of it have been breaking off over the last few months and now the whole tooth has gone. My dentist, a lovely guy whom we know from our theatre group, is willing to see him today.

What busy days you have, grandMattie and Grandmabatty! I hope your grandsons make the days as easy as possible for you.

Belated birthday greetings to Marydoll and Creativeness. We find cruising the most relaxing of holidays, Pantglas2, so I shall be interested to hear where you choose to go.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Georgesgran Wed 15-May-24 06:20:26

Good morning from Menorca. A very cloudy day, with rain later is forecast. First time here, but I won’t come back again.
Best wishes to all. X

Susan56 Wed 15-May-24 06:30:21

Good morning from Shropshire.A day of sunshine and showers forecast.

No plans today.I will do laundry and some packing for our few days away.

You will be ready for a rest on Friday Grandmabatty.

I hope the summerhouse is built today Roses and then you can then enjoy it.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

cornergran Wed 15-May-24 06:32:08

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Chores were completed yesterday. Round one with our energy supplier was declared a draw although there was a fulsome apology going some way to calming this cross customer. Mr C wants to venture forth today, waiting to hear his preferred destination. It’s more likely we’ll set out and see where we find ourselves, far less busyness here than for many of you.

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Grammaretto Wed 15-May-24 06:34:29

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dull and damp again.
It was cold yesterday.

A new roofer is going to come at some stage but nobody has any sense of urgency apart from me!

I hope the Summer House is built this year Roses

The garden is very lush and green. I have more to plant up and more weeding.

Yarn group this morning and packing a glaze kiln.
Where do the weeks go!
Welcome to dry land Ash Sorry about OD's poor tooth.

You haven't sold the toddler group gMattie 🤣😂 I'd rather a plant nursery any day. A tap hiding behind the shrubs! That's a find.

Have a good day everyone.

RosiesMaw Wed 15-May-24 06:51:28

Good morning all from N Bucks. Rain in the night, but fair, though grey, now. Opera Plus (Zoom) this morning then train to London to a birthday tea for DGS who is EIGHT.
His birth was very fraught and I would rather not remember the anxious days but he is a sweet and thoughtful child with a quirky imagination and real artistic talent ( perhaps unsurprising with a sculptor father and theatre designer mother!) He wrote this at school a while back and it was very sweet. Hope you can read it
It says
“A perfect Granny is one that’s kind, careing (sic) and gives lots of cudles (sic). I call my Granny Janny and she’s all of those things and even more!” 😍😍
Wishing you all “lots of cudles “and a pleasant day.

kittylester Wed 15-May-24 06:52:41

Good morning all from a grey and damp North Leicestershire.

I'm off to the othe side of Leicester for the next Carer Learning course. I prefer real live ones but some people find it difficult to get to physical courses (for lots of different reasons) and welcome zoomed sessions.

DH is going to the gym for the first time since his chest infection. Hope he survives.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 15-May-24 07:04:39

Good morning from a sunny but chilly and blustery day in Spain, the washing will dry quickly, if it doesn’t get blown off the line. The washing machine and lines are up on the roof terrace, all of my smalls up there for the whole street to see!

Home to the U.K. tomorrow, so up early, the house manager will be here either to refund us the upfront payments for water, gas and electricity or ask for more money! It’s the first time we’ve ever had to pay it all separately, as we have the pool to top up it could prove expensive. Come back James Villas all is forgiven ( they closed down suddenly last year).
GM having an outside tap was a good find.
Ash I’m another one with problem teeth, age I guess, although MrOops never has had any problems with his.
Roses we ordered a potting shed a year or 2 ago, by the time we had painted it, laid the slab and erected it, we were beginning to question why we had bought it. The glass for the windows was replaced by a thick plastic because ‘we’ve run out of glass, but it will arrive soon’ we fitted the plastic, it’s still fine, 2 months later the glass arrived. It took us so long to fit all the panes of plastic that the glass is still wrapped up under the bench. One day we will take out al the plastic and replace it. But it is sooo useful, we painted it blue and it has bunting around it and a seagull on the top, I’ll have to dig out a photo.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day and that the weather is sunny and warm. Hugs for those who aren’t so chipper today.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 15-May-24 07:05:51

Morning all from a grey S E Essex, I have no idea what the weather is doing the rest of the day, if it’s not warm and sunny I shall clear out more stuff which I am finding very therapeutic.

First thing I shall go to the gym, late afternoon I have an appointment with the magic handed back lady.

Georgesgran don’t give up on Menorca there are some pretty little villages inland, I remember visiting a Monastery high on a hill, hope the weather improves.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Bellasnana Wed 15-May-24 07:16:00

Good morning all from a very overcast but hot Malta. Won’t be surprised if it rains.

I’m with the boys as usual. The older one (by 2 minutes) has taken to wanting me to lift him up all the time. He likes to see out of the window, press buttons on the cooker, water cooler etc, but it’s killing my back!

Best of luck Grandmabatty, hope you won’t be too shattered by your extra days with the boys. I know I’m fit for nothing once I go home in the afternoon and this heat is going to make it even worse!

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Pittcity Wed 15-May-24 07:16:39

Good morning from rainy Colchester. Another damp, mild day.
Wednesday coffee meetup this morning as usual. Bits and bobs indoors this afternoon.
Love to all 🦩 x

Bonnybanko Wed 15-May-24 07:19:24

Good morning all from a very warm start to the day here on the east coast of Fife.
I can see clear across the Firth of Forth from my living room window - a view to die for.
My neighbour is coming to tidy my garden which is in full bloom these days I imagine due to the recent climate conditions where it’s been lovely and warm
I’ll be sitting in my conservatory all day today looking out into the garden listening and watching the birds chattering away.
I’m so fortunate

Have a good as you can day my friends keep safe

brook2704 Wed 15-May-24 07:20:26

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s a grey cloudy start to the day
I’m heading home later this afternoon, it’s been lovely as always catching up with DD1 and family. I’ll book my next trip back here as soon as I’m home!
Aww you’ve a gorgeous DGS there Rosies Happy 8th Birthday to the little treasure It’s such a lovely age, my two here are 7 and 9 so just either side

BlueSapphire Wed 15-May-24 07:29:11

Good morning everyone from a brighter, dry Northampton. Yesterday's rain lasted till lunchtime and it was nice enough for me to join the walking group. I felt that the walk was just a bit too long for me, but I kept going to the end, then needed a good sit down and a coffee afterwards to recover!

Blood test this morning at the surgery; may pop into the village bakery after for a coffee ☕. Will have a late lunch, and read a bit more of my book.
DS-in-law is picking me up early evening to take me to theirs, as it is DD's turn to host our ladies' wine club evening. Looking forward to that. I will stay there overnight.

Have a good Wednesday everyone.

Gingster Wed 15-May-24 07:35:04

Good morning all and it’s looking dreary.
Dh hopes to go fishing, weather permitting and I’m not sure what I’ll be doing.
First thing pick up little DGD and take her to school. Hope the traffic isn’t too bad. 🤞.

RosiesMaw what a sweet boy . Happy birthday to him. 🥳
Sorry your holiday is disappointing georgesgran.
Roseandlilac 🙏. Please send a pic when it’s all up and running.

Take care and I hope you all enjoy the day.🌸

Marydoll Wed 15-May-24 07:37:08

Good morning all from Anstruther, it's 11°C and the sea haar has covered everything.

Grandmattie, its great to see you becoming more and more involved in the complex and parish community.
Glad to hear that you are safely home Ash and Pants, I hope there are no misunderstandings at the hairdresser! 😉

I am overwhelmed by all the birthday wishes yesterday and lovely to hear from absent posters. I hope your birthday was a happy as mine, Creativeness.
It was great to hear from my dear pal, Borrheid, I hope you feel a bit better today.😘

It was a perfect day in St Andrew's, a little retail therapy, lunch in my favourite Indian restaurant and we made it to the bus station just as the rain started.
The outward bus journey was so interesting. The bus went the extended route and despite coming here for over forty years, we saw places we had never seen before and our bus passes meant it was all free!
We were entertained by the chat on the bus, everyone was so friendly and they all seemed to know one another.

On arriving back, we popped into the inn, across from our cottage. We were the only customers, then a couple of locals appeared. Later, two Belgian tourists, who had booked a room arrived. After getting settled in, they came back for a drink. At that point, I had video call from Dollie, who was so loud, I had to go outside in the rain to chat to her. On returning to the pub, the Belgians nodded over, but looked quite bemused by the phone call. Much to the embarrassment of my family, I chatted to them in French and explained that it was my granddaughter on the phone, wishing me a happy birthday. It turned out it was also the gentleman's mother's birthday!
The local worthies were looking at me in bemusement because I kept switching languages to explain what was being said!

Back at the cottage after a sneaky nap DD produced a bottle of Prosecco and a birthday cake with candles. 🥰
I couldn't have asked for a better day.

We are off to Pittenweem along the coastal path. It's a rather slow walk, because I have to keep having frequent rests on the benches, which overlook the sea and border the golf course.
Every year, DH treats us to the same running commentary of every shot he has played over the years on that golf course. I have perfected my interested, but not actually engaged look. 🤣
We will visit the chandlers to buy colourful glass floats, to hang from our trees. I am looking for some red ones, we already have other colours. Last year the assistant ( after teetering on very high ladders) assured me they were red, they were actually blue!

Wishing you all a pleasant day and for those on holiday, enjoy.
Off to read the posts, which will have appeared, while I was writing my novella! 🤣

GrannyIvy Wed 15-May-24 07:38:09

Good morning from Cambridgeshire, it is grey and mild with a drizzle of rain. Today DD2 and I are going holiday shopping and a lunch out together which will be a treat after the last two weeks of helping her move house. DH has been given a day off too and is going to visit his mum and a day to himself. We have to be back for the school pick up.
Hope everyone has the best day possible💐
