Small Babies With Headbands

Why do some mothers insist on putting bands around their babies’ little heads? To add insult to injury, the bands invariably have a big bow on them! Am I the only one who thinks they look utterly ridiculous?
I’m not a miserable old fuddy daddy and have no problem with pretty much all other baby fashions but I hate the look of this!

I agree they look silly, but like Not Spaghetti, i think they could be dangerous on babies. What if they got it around their neck somehow while napping.

I reckon everything has the potential to be harmful.
Plenty of older babies chew through their dummies, for example.

Hats often tie up around their necks,
They often cough when trying solid foods.

Very chic!

I agree. This little girl looks lovely in her headband. I obviously didn’t make it clear that it’s bands on the heads of little babies in prams that I hate! To be fair, I did say ‘babies’ not toddlers. Once they are able to walk about, they are gorgeous.
Sorry for the confusion. My fault entirely!

I wasn’t talking about them being harmful. It was the look of them that I dislike enough to mention.
Unfortunately, my simple comment has turned into a discussion about something totally different, safety, dummies and even choking on solid food for goodness’ sake! What solid food has to do with headbands, I can’t work out!!
Why do I bother??

Sorry, I admire your skill, but I think it looks ridiculous. Why would you want to put something so big on a tiny baby’s little head?
Beats me!

My new granddaughter was born with a hearing defect and, at 3 months, wears a headband to keep her hearing aids in - and it looks really cute. So many things going wrong in this world and you choose to post on this, Crossstitchfan…

I am very sorry you took offence to my comment but would like to remind you that it’s free speech on here and we can all comment on whatever subject we like.
I am also sad about your baby granddaughter but I think it’s unfair that you think it’s ok to take your frustration and hurt about this out on me!

I don’t think any baby looks ridiculous no matter what their parents or GP puts on them. Babies are lovely little humans.

I think it shows that they are loved actually, and that they are clothed, and are fed and clean.

Sorry but I fail to see how a headband signifies that a baby is loved! What an odd idea! Not to mention you think it shows they are clothed, fed and clean!
A headband certainly doesn’t show any of these, it only shows that it’s mother likes to put her baby in a headband!
