Small Babies With Headbands

I don’t think any baby looks ridiculous no matter what their parents or GP puts on them. Babies are lovely little humans.

I think it shows that they are loved actually, and that they are clothed, and are fed and clean.

I think they look daft and naff but it’s the fashion.

I remember in the 60s when the fashion was for baggy sweaters and I persuaded my dad to give one of his sweaters. I must have looked awful like a beatnik but I was thrilled.

Posters can say the headbands themselves look silly or whatever, but to say the babies wearing them are plain looking themselves was unkind.

They put them on their babies because they like them and think they are cute. Each to our own.

I think these headbands sometimes come as a set with the dress, so people think they should use them.
I remember in the 70's it was fashionable to buy dress and matching knicker sets. It was seen as cute to see a frilly bottom on a little girl. This is now frowned upon, I think. How times change.

I think they are used to signify sex.

You’ve reminded me of the time my friend and I had our babies very close together. My daughter was a caesarean birth and as we know they come out beautiful ( although she did look a bit like Andy Pandy 😂)
Come the time I went to visit my friend at her house.
Into the bedroom, look in crib, and I just went OH !!!!
He was 11 1/2 pound born ( natural birth ) with what looked like an Afro wig.
My friend just looked at me ( smiling) and said: i know

My sister didn’t take her baby out for months. He was a forceps delivery. She said he looked like a Martian. He did a bit.

I loathe headbands on babies. I also dislike jeans on small babies - look so uncomfortable. Also ear piercing - a form of child abuse in my opinion. Surely a parent can wait until the child can understand what is going to happen. I once watched a little girl screaming her head off in Claire’s Accessories. She looked to be about 3. My pedicure person won’t pierce children's’ ears until they are at least 10 and she asks to see them briefly without their parent to ensure they understand what is going to happen and how they have to look after the wounds.

The issue isn’t about how it looks. A lot of mothers do it because people have to always comment on gender so mothers do it to decipher the gender… It’s more about it being a safety concern…

It's just fashion - been around for a number of years but no doubt will change - but to what?

Headbands look stupid and are unnecessary. Our daughter was born with a good head of hair. She didn’t need any ridiculous decoration on it. Jewellery on babies is worse though. 🙄 Headbands and jewellery are both dangerous. I wear a headband just while I remove makeup and I’m always relieved to remove it afterwards!

I think they’re adorable and wish they had been a thing when my girls were babies ages ago so precious. My grandaughters wear them daily I think Must have dozens. The headbands are all soft and don’t leave marks etc. I can’t imagine looking at a baby and taking offense at what they’re wearing though!

Looks horrible, think doctors are advising against them as a babies skull is still soft, growing and forming and this silly bands put pressure on their heads.

I always think what if it's too tight, and the baby is uncomfortable, and don't get me started on pierced ears that often accompany the head bands on babies and small children. Just dreadful.

If it’s too tight, then no. Otherwise it’s no worse than any of the other ridiculous fashions that crop up-like boys in dresses, popular in my grandparent’s time.
There are always rumours about harm, whether it’s wool or cotton next to baby’s skin or, when mine were little the favourite one was ^babygros are too confining and will harm baby’s development.

All I can find in terms of warnings, is a tiktok mum who says that as she was driving, her babys headband went up and over her eyes.

She also then found out that babies heads are soft, so had a tight headband been left on, it "might" have affected the growth of a babys head.

I hope she remembered not to put a headband on her baby when she is driving. I’m still trying to visualise the headband going up and over the baby’s eyes. Did she have it round the baby’s neck?
You can find evidence on the internet to support or refute almost anything.

Moral of the story; if your baby is planning to drive, warn them not to wear a headband.
