How often do you wear perfume

Yesterday we went out for dinner (actually it was street food, eaten in a shelter on the seafront 😂) and to celebrate the occasion I spritzed on a bit of perfume. Similarly my husband used an expensive aftershave (usually he only bothers for weddings and funerals).

Anyway, it got me thinking. It takes me a couple of years to get through a bottle of perfume, I’ve got lots of it (mostly gifts from family and friends) and it’s all good stuff. So I have decided that (if I can remember) I’m going to wear perfume every day!!

Today I’m in my scruffy painting smock, but if this was smellyvision you would smelling Jo Malone’s Pear and Freesia. 😂

You... you... woman, you!
I've just bought that!!!

I never buy things without thinking about it for around two years beforehand!!!

Oh, blimey, I do hope you like it! shock

Do you think I could claim some sales commission?

MissAdventure Wed 29-May-24 21:29:19

grin
I expect you could.
It all rests with you.

Almost never. I worked with a woman over 20 years ago who required that no one wear scents- I think I even had to change my shampoo.

I never got in the habit again. I find them quite oppressive to be honest.

I like the smell of Eau de Cologne and will apply it occasionally when I have some, which I don't at the moment.

Almost every day since I was about 14. When we were in sixth form one of my school friends commented that she liked sitting next to me in class because I always smelled nice. A compliment I've never forgotten smile
I have a few different perfumes, I like to vary them, and some I just 'go off' eventually.

Back in the late 70s I sat next to a girl who always smelt so lovely.
It was the fabric softener used for her wool cardigans/jumpers I could smell and I asked my mum if she could buy some but it was apparently "too expensive and wasn't needed".

D&G …..L’imperatrice … absolutely love it and wear it every time I leave the house … life’s too short to deny ourselves a little luxury.

Hi there
Every day because I’m worth it 😁

I have a good friend who adored Poison which I loathed. I told her I would not drive her anywhere if she wore it. Thankfully now discontinued I think. I’m at a stage where I prefer men’s cologne, current favourite is Terre by Hermes.

Never, my husband doesn’t like it.

Etoile2701 Sun 02-Jun-24 11:36:09

I wear it every day whatever I am doing.

I am an asthmatic and strong perfumes is one of my triggers. We like to go shopping early in the morning to avoid the crowds however, if someone is wearing strong perfume, I get triggered, can’t stop coughing and generally out of sorts for many hours until I recover. I can tolerate mild perfumes but things like Obsession and Poison are an absolute no, no.
I do wear perfume myself but only in the evenings when I go out and then it is Anais, Anais (worn this for many years) or Aromatics.

I wear it every day

pably15 Sun 02-Jun-24 11:45:12

everyday...I love perfume...today it's Elizabeth Arden's Red Door....just a little needed...I often think of the perfumes that were around in the 60's like Midnight, Primitive...Tweed L'aimant. White Fire ( in the little red bottle )

pably15 Sun 02-Jun-24 11:47:37

JANH i'm not allergic to perfumes, but whenever I passed anyone on the street wearing Poison, I had to catch me breath, it was overpowering...

I am clearly in a minority of one as I never wear it and I don't think anyone would consider buying it for me. That's probably not surprising though!

KSB23 Sun 02-Jun-24 12:05:16

Every day, whether I'm going out or not, it's part of getting dressed for me. I don't feel right otherwise.

SheWho Sun 02-Jun-24 12:06:47

I was thinking along those lines - even bought myself a cheap bottle (not that I haven't got some in my drawer), as I have never worn it every day but I have been thinking "Why not? - it doesn't actually last for ever and why shouldn't I wear it for myself? I love perfume and some times my partner notices if I do. With so much going on, and with so much tiredness, I'm just having difficulty getting the habit of wearing some every day.

Mamie792 Sun 02-Jun-24 12:09:39

Thought it would not actually be the case cos of all the hype, but I tried Noted Aromas - Lima which is identical to Jo Malone’s LimeBasil and Mandarin and lasts all day. I know it’s cheating (sorry)but a big bottle is about a third of the price and does lift the spirits. And they do five little samples of other copies! Just saying ……. Oh and I loved Laura Ashley’s Number 1 And another called L’Eau but they were discontinued along with a Chloe L’Eau - so disappointing when that happens but I guess that often our skins change and maybe they wouldn’t smell the same if I could buy again. Big sigh ! All time favourite is Clarins Eau des Jardins which for me is just summer in a bottle 💐

Cid24 Sun 02-Jun-24 12:10:47

Everyday. My signature perfume is Amarige by Givenchy. Been wearing it since 1982!

Wren5 Sun 02-Jun-24 12:11:33

Everyday I wear perfume, I buy cheap bottles to wear around the house & expensive ones to wear out everyday. Would not feel me if I did not wear some :-)

welbeck Sun 02-Jun-24 12:15:55

Every day. Chanel no. 5 goes on right after deodorant before putting on bra.
