How often do you wear perfume

Yesterday we went out for dinner (actually it was street food, eaten in a shelter on the seafront 😂) and to celebrate the occasion I spritzed on a bit of perfume. Similarly my husband used an expensive aftershave (usually he only bothers for weddings and funerals).

Anyway, it got me thinking. It takes me a couple of years to get through a bottle of perfume, I’ve got lots of it (mostly gifts from family and friends) and it’s all good stuff. So I have decided that (if I can remember) I’m going to wear perfume every day!!

Today I’m in my scruffy painting smock, but if this was smellyvision you would smelling Jo Malone’s Pear and Freesia. 😂

I don't wear it in the house, but I always do when I go out and when I'm on a Zoom/Teams call. I'm not sure why, but maybe it makes me remember I'm 'on stage' in a similar way to being at work.

Every day - CK Obsession. I get through 3 bottles a year.

I’ve just bought a bottle on a special offer from Chemist Direct, I haven’t seen it for years. I wear perfume every day, usually Agent Provocateur, but the Obsession will be a wee change.

I wear perfume most days . My daytime one is oud rose by a local company. It’s a roll on oil and lasts ages.
My other perfumes are all Jo Malone . Pomegranate noir , tuberose and Angelica , and dark amber and ginger lily .
The only time I don’t wear perfume is on holiday because it attract the mossies .

I haven't worn perfume for many years now and don't think I know anyone who does unless it's so subtle as to be unnoticeable .

My Obsession is now gifted (Christmas, Birthday and Mother’s Day) from the DDs Daddima.
I think I’ve worn it from 1985 when it first came out. I’ve had dalliances with Jo Malone a few years ago, but just CK now and every day. Over the years, they’ve dropped all the ‘trimmings’ but last Christmas the DDs found gifts sets with body lotion and shower gel from Chemist Direct. They always do some research and pay around £25 a bottle. I think I paid more than that myself last Century!

I wear Chanel No 5 everyday. Partly because I like it and partly out of nostalgia as my late mother and grandmother also wore it. I have had some pretty difficult health issues and have found that a spritz of perfume always makes me feel better.

Wasn't Marilyn Monroe who, when asked what she wore in bed answered 'Chanel No 5'

Labradora Wed 29-May-24 16:14:33

Everyday. It's one of the great pleasures of my life.
I use a mid-range perfume from the Fragonard range all the time as a sort of body spray but I have also the classic fragrances like L'Air du Temps , Oscar de la Renta and Miss Dior for serious use.
As others have said , I feel undressed without it.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 29-May-24 16:54:38

Almost every day. I like Rive Gauche and Coco Mademoiselle but my current love is Tom Ford's Velvet Orchid.
One friend wore the same fragrance always. So much did we associate it with her that one of my children once said "Auntie J's here !" on a holiday ferry, noticing it on someone nearby.

I wear Chanel no 5 most days. I just love how it smells on me and I've used it for years. Tried others but always come back to it. In the 70s I wore Vent Vert by Balmain but I think it was discontinued a long time ago.

I don’t wear perfume. It often makes me cough! I use a lovely snelling moisturiser instead. Cheaper and it doesn’t make me cough 😊

MissAdventure Wed 29-May-24 17:35:53

Rarely these days, but I do love someone passing by in a cloud of glorious scent. smile

I used to be able to make what people were wearing, too, but I'm not up to date with perfumes now.

MissAdventure Wed 29-May-24 17:36:28

Name.
Not make!!

I’m like Doodledog in that I don’t wear perfume in the house, but I wear it to go out. Not when I’m just going to the supermarket of course, nor will I wear it if going to a medical or dental appointment because if the medic needs to get near to me to examine me, which the dentist certainly does, they could be allergic or just find a strong perfume smell off putting. So I wear perfume for ‘nice’ outings. I’ve got several different ones that I like and vary them according to how I feel. There’s just one I never wear. My husband gave it to me one Christmas years ago and I don’t like it. It’s an Estée Lauder one, I’ve forgotten the name, but the sales assistant advised him. I’ve told him never to buy perfume again unless I ask for it because it’s too expensive to waste money on. My favourite at the moment is Ma Vie by Hugo Boss, but I like many others.

Maggiemaybe Wed 29-May-24 17:44:02

Every day. At the moment it’s Oud Attar - I have six tiny bottles in different scents so always have one to hand. A tiny drop goes a long way. When I’m feeling flush it’s Jo Malone, usually the Pomegranate Noir.

MissAdventure Wed 29-May-24 17:48:14

What an interesting name that is.
Our Attar.

What does it mean, do you know, please?

MissAdventure Wed 29-May-24 17:49:10

Oud.
Not Our.

Sigh....

Ladyripple Wed 29-May-24 17:56:44

Wear perfume everyday, part of my morning routine.Today is Jo Malone,English Pear and Freesia.

Maggiemaybe Wed 29-May-24 18:56:54

Well, MissA, oud is a perfume base oil made from the resin of the agar tree, from South East Asia. On its own it has a musky scent. Attar is made by distilling different flowers, herbs, and spices, so that’s what gives oud the different scents. My favourite is rose.

I had to google them to find out! grin

MissAdventure Wed 29-May-24 18:58:43

Thank you, Maggiemaybe.

It's such an intriguing name, I'd really like to try it.

Is it wildly expensive?

Allsorts Wed 29-May-24 19:12:45

Chanel no.5 every day.

It can be. I just get this set of tiny bottles (they’re always on sale, btw!). And they last for ages - it’s concentrated, so a little dab is enough, and is very long-lasting.
