Good Morning Thursday 30th May 2024

Good morning from a grey Bristol. I’m hoping that today will be reasonably sunny. Yesterday was unexpectedly warm.
My lunch went well. I had decided to let her talk, not interrupt or have much of an opinion - it worked. Conversation was 80/20 but she was kind and generous on the whole.
And the food was ok - she had given me a list of foods she couldn’t eat - serious intolerance or actual allergies, which were rather limiting…
The rest of the day was spent making blueberry jam with the box of fruit I had bought earlier. 2.5 kg made only 10 pots; not a great deal.
Today, I must go to the library, get some more backing fabric to finish my quilt (home straight now),and rest- I have been awake since 0330- before going out to a charity dinner with DD & DS; it’s called a Peace Meal. It’s the first time I’ve heard of them. Turkish tonight apparently; Middle Eastern is my favourite food.

good morning from s somerset. Cool, rainy, cloudy today

Busy yesterday, I love my evolutions and outside windows got done, no forward planning. Did not take me long, neither did the snail collecting nor the weeding but I was happily pottering much of the day.

My kefir grains are starting to grow, I think another two days will see them back into life. I want the freshest grass fed milk so will get more on saturday and that will see me through to next tuesday. I am `testing` a different organic company then, cannot be doing with restricted choices

What today? Honestly, I have no real idea, apart from the walking exercise which only takes 30 minutes, if I walk fast

Good morning from a sunny menorca. On our first holiday of the year and enjoying the rest. Lovely weather and a week of no work and routine. We’re having a nice lazy first day after a rather hectic early flight yesterday. Happy days.

Good morning from a fine and brightish Torbay where the wind is likely to keep temperatures down again.

My dental check up indicated the need for a filling to be replaced which will happen next Friday. The dentist is a lovely Argentinian young man with whom I shared the stage in ‘Allo, ‘Allo in 2022, when he played Captain Bertorelli. He is very gentle but thorough and is concerned about the standard of finish of many of my old fillings which date back to when I lived in Staffordshire.

Wednesday Club was well attended and later I enjoyed a convivial time with my neighbour whose daughter was married at the weekend.

A quieter day today with a hair appointment this afternoon. I’m glad your visitor had mellowed since you last met, grandMattie.

Yesterday was mainly dry so DH has the garden looking lovely ready for DD2 and family arriving later.

I have had a bad night with my hiatus hernia and reflux causing problems.It has been settled for a while and not sure what has set it off🙄

Hairdressers this morning then DD and co will meet us in town for lunch.I then have to do food shopping.

I’m glad the meal went well grandMattie but sorry you were awake so early.I hope you get a rest before tonight’s dinner.

I hope Marydoll managed to speak to a dr yesterday.

Thoughts with our absent friends and especially those with mountains to climb.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bit of a dreary day in South Yorkshire with rain expected later. I overdid it a bit in the garden yesterday afternoon when I came home from the library and everything hurts today. I am supposed to be out with the walking group this morning but I may not go. I have three hours to make up my mind! At the moment I have a wheat bag on my neck and shoulder to ease the pain I woke up with. Age! What a b****r!

Yesterday, I was so relieved when my own GP phoned me. He listened with a sympathetic ear and asked me, what I wanted to do. He knows that I never phone unless I am very unwell.
I declined the option of steroids, which bring their own problems and have consequences for other treatments.
Granny Gravy will understand my reasons for refusing.
Unfortunately my new treatment and Covid booster have been put on hold. 😞

Today, we need to tackle Virgin Media, because as expected they haven't resolved my email issues and consequently I cannot change my booster online.
As CEV, I am entitled to free Covid tests, unfortunately yesterday, a code to order, which I couldn't access was sent to my email dress.
I have gradually started changing my email details to another account. Virgin are useless!
The medical accounts accounts need sorted ASAP.
The hospital also need to be informed of my circumstances and the delay in treatment. Another task for today.

DH is off to pick up Dollie and bring her here, then do the school run and pick up my anti nausea medication. The antibiotics I have are brutal, but they usually do their job.
She unexpectedly appeared in her jammies last night, because they had run out of printer paper for her homework project.
We were treated to a re-run of sport's day, which had been held indoors, without parents, due to the awful weather.
It was just the tonic, I needed. 🥰
Constantly battling ill health, while trying to stay positive, is blooming exhausting, shall things can bring so much pleasure.
I was telling DH how fed up I was and, being his usual blunt and unfiltered self, responded: We never thought you would still be here, so count your blessings.. 😱

I have a charity bag uplift from BHF, who are funding research into my unusual heart condition. I am too embarrassed to say how many bags I have, just that I have contacted them twice to amend the number of bags. .
DH is amazed at how ruthless I have been. I tried on a beautiful summer coat and the train ticket in the pocket was dated, June 2017. It was two sizes too small, as were many of the clothes. 😭 Lots were from my work wardrobe.
Unfortunately, I still have too many clothes but have nowhere to wear them.

A gentle day ahead for me, we are forecast some sun, thank goodness.

I have decided to join the TIBedders. I was having a dream where my brother reversed a coach into an old film set and before all the dust could settle I woke up.

Today I’ll check to see if I have the right size screws for putting my bench together. I have to get some nuts and bolts for part of it so I’ll take that bit with me to the diy store for sizing.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and sunny for a change. Mick I have a chiropodist appointment today too. GrandMattie I'm glad the visit passed without incident. Susan I hope you don't have a reoccurrence of it.
Yesterday I had my haircut and got a free bottle of volumniser from my hairdresser. He's such a lovely man. His younger son was there and I taught him briefly. They are such a nice family. When I came home, I did some tidying up and then weeding in the garden. I applied for my state pension online and it was very easy. I fielded umpteen phonecalls from mum's social worker and a visit from my brother with more paperwork about mum's finances. So a satisfying day.
Today I have an early chiropodist appointment then nothing planned. I woke with very painful feet- a result of diabetes - so I'm hoping she's gentle with them. I need bread so a quick trip to Aldi is on the cards. I want to get into the garden again. I think I'll make a chicken curry for dinner. I have some sausages but they don't taste very appetising and I didn't enjoy them yesterday. Have a good day all.

Good morning this is my 3rd attempt to send my post.
It’s a beautiful start to the weather here on the east coast of Fife, yesterday was so exciting the town of Leven has been buzzing.
The first minister for Scotland was in Leven opening a rail link to Edinburgh there were lots of celebrations and fun I was so pleased to witness this historical event. Here’s the photos to evidence this

Good morning all. A lot of rain has fallen since Sunday with some fields flooded again. I’m fighting a losing battle with my dahlias which are being consumed by tiny snails.

DGS2 was very good this week. We did a lot of playdough. He is very much an outdoorsy child but is was horrible weather so we did a small Tesco shop where he was hard to control tearing up and down the aisles. He did scan the items at the self service checkout quite successfully. Today we have his sister as it’s half term.

BlueSapphire - we seem to read the same books sometimes. I read Demon Copperhead at the same time as you - I didn’t get on with it at first but then it seemed to improve. I read The Whalebone Theatre a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed it. I read it has been compared to The Cazalet Chronicles. I can’t comment as I’ve not read those or seen a TV adaptation.

Monk I could hardly believe your most unfortunate friend had lost all 3 of her sons so early. Heartbreaking.
I’m glad your DD is out of hospital and with her daughter again Gingster.

Good morning from a grey Essex coast, no sun yet.
I saw a lovely doctor yesterday about my ongoing cough and she said I needed a chest xray.
I rang the hospital and the first time they could do it was the 20th June. They suggested I go back to the surgery and get it marked as urgent, then I could just turn up and get it done.
The surgery said I needed to make an appointment with another doctor to get it changed. What a waste of a doctor's time and mine.
I'm going to try and get a cancellation at the hospital.
Today is food shopping this morning and trying to finish my book this afternoon.

We sat outside all day yesterday at DD1's and I managed to catch some sun. It was a family day with ages from 10 months to 86 and full of chat and laughter.

We had a lovely day yesterday. A delicious lunch followed by a trip to a nearby Garden Centre where we bought a variety of supports for some of our shrubs. All this rain has made them enormous.
It is my Book Group today. We meet at the village cafe over lunch.
I will cook asparagus for dinner with poached eggs. Not hollandaise sauce though - that is a once a year treat at the beginning of the season! The amount of butter and egg yolks is ridiculous.

Nothing planned, hopefully we will pop down to see DiL 4 and our darling GD, their flight was delayed yesterday, which meant it was to late to pop round to see GD and take her birthday gifts and DS & DiL their Anniversary bits.

I must sort out the big freezer in the garage which will be a bit if a food treasure hunt

MaryDoll fingers crossed you will begin to feel better soon, I totally understand your feelings towards the dreaded steroids, as for brutal antibiotics, 🤢🤮 I was so extremely grateful for anti nausea meds this time.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a cloudy Carlisle where it is trying to brighten up. It has obviously rained during the night.
Yesterday I planted up my dahlias into my raised bed along with some cheerfully coloured bedding plants. I'm going to have to keep a careful eye on them for snails and slugs which threaten to be bad this year. I may have to be very proactive, which certainly worked on the lily beetles earlier on, I came back from holiday to find the lilies intact and not a beetle in sight.
Today, a housework morning and, hopefully, a gardening afternoon with a Tesco delivery in between. Also, I have a new book, picked up in the charity bookshop yesterday so I may start that.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.

We are promised sunshine but we had enough rain yesterday for a year and no action yet on my poor roof.

I enjoyed both yarn and exercise classes to take my mind off the house problems. I am going to view another house today with a df who is also thinking of downsizing.

Yoga this morning and plenty of "office" work.
I tried to book a boat trip for when my DS and family are here from NZ next month but it's all booked up.

I was with DH a railway geek on the "first" train on the reopened Borders Railway, which was terrific.

Sorry that you've been left in Limbo Marydoll and hope your cough subsides. Some sunshine is sure to help.
