Do you still feel young

I do all the regular things hair, nails, clothes but I',m a realist. I'm 71 so no longer young biologically and that influences me emotionally if I'm honest. There are many things now I don't feel I could do e.g. dancing to modern music as I used to love to do. I'm very aware of looking undignified and therefore there are clothes I wouldn't wear e.g. off the shoulder tops, glitzy tops, tattoos definitely not. Health issues worry me especially things like teeth and the need to be paying for everything health related soon. So in that sense no I don't still feel young or even young at heart.

I'm 77 and often mistaken for younger because I'm very active in my local community and mix with people of all ages. Recently I've been having a fabulous time with a man 15 years younger than me which took me completely by surprise. He became obsessed with finding out my age and this became a bit of a game. It seems that now he's worked it out and he obviously can't cope with it. I'm not ashamed of my age but this has left me feeling a bit foolish Maybe No fool like an old fool is right after all.

I still feel young but I'm tired and have spinal compression fractures that give me a lot of pain. I don't dress like a granny cos I ain't one!

I'm 83 and dress fashionably (what are granny clothes?) I have never owned a pair of denim jeans I hate them for me denim jeans are for cowboys. I have always had pride in my appearance, age - it is a frame of mind.

I'll be 79 next month. This year, I'm apprehensive about driving our (well, my now) camper van to Scotland to visit DD and family. Its nearly 500 miles and I do an over-night stop.
I was okay with it last year. So yes, I do feel old. There's no point in pretending I have the same resilience and energy as before. So I put on my glasses, put in my hearing aids and denture, and off I go.
"Well done Granny", I tell myself.

I did feel young’ish until my arthritis took a turn for the worse. I currently feel very old and crabby!

I feel young! But I do not look young and do not attempt to - I am old in years, but not in how I feel.

Think I do dress my age but very well. I’m into linen trousers longline tops chunky silver jewellery nothing changes my style!

I am 74 and people are kind enough to say that I look much younger than I am. I have never been interested in fashion, or makeup. I would have worn a T shirt and jeans on my wedding day, if it had been left to me.

Yes I’m with you on this. I’m 68 feel 48 act 48. Love fashion, have a young mind, keep up to date with what my teenage granddaughters like and are interested in which keeps the mind young. Have my hair done every 6 wks.Shop in mango and Zara. I’m not giving in to numbers.🌸

I’m 75 and love clothes. My husband is French and we have lived in Paris 10 years and Madrid 12. Women on the continent tend to take pride in their appearance. I don’t want to look like mutton dressed as lamb but just well turned out. Wearing whatever is just a shame I feel. There is so much on line and not expensive. We take care with our diet. Yes, you can’t hold back the ravages of time but we can choose to be smart.

Yes I feel very young I m heading to 80 and feel about 50
I keep up with fashion, without being stupid I wouldn’t wear a bikini 🤣 but I do like to stay modern in my clothes and keep up with the trends within reason I keep my hair short in a pixie style which people tell me suits me I wear light make up and always earrings I do a lot of physical work and my hobbies are physical too I can still touch my toes without bending my knees and still do a full lotus so fairly flexible
How much longer who knows but I ll take it for now

Having spent a lot of time in both France and Spain I have always commented how well turned out they are. Beautiful clothes and elegantly styled hair.

Totally agree with you Juicylucy. I love Zara and have bought some super trousers which have lasted years.

Ii feel young inside, do croswords, like modern music etc, but feel old outside (I use a mobility scooter)

I take pride in my appearance and often told I don't look my (soon to be) 78 but physically I know I am no spring chicken any more. I get tired more easily and I am not as energetic as I once was.
Between us DH and I have 8 doctor's appointments this month alone. Our GP keeps texting us wanting us to go in for MOT's, hearing tests, COPD check-ups, Diabetes check-ups etc. I am hoping after this month we will be clear for a while.

i think the youth of today do not judge people so much on how they look.
this is an improvement, i think.
generally, there seems to be more respect for differences, and not drawing conclusions or making assumptions about individuals.

I like your post welbeck Humans, young or old, are so much more than the superficial.

I aim to feel comfortable in my clothes but don’t conform to any style. We are kidding ourselves if we still feel as if young when we are old. We change and adapt throughout life.

I’m sorry to hear of your bad news Urmstongran, it’s really hard when life changing events suddenly barge into our lives.

We live our lives day to day in blissful ignorance of what may be round the corner.

My brain still thinks I'm in my 20s, my body tells my brain I'm in my 90s, I'm actually just about to turn 60.
I still dress smart (with advice from my daughters) and try and keep up with with fashion and my grandchildren !

I’m the same age as you and feel the same way. I like clothes and enjoy dressing nicely to suit myself. I try to do as much as I can, but unfortunately cannot burn the candle at both ends as I could in my twenties or thirties.

I like to look good when going out but comfort is the key when ‘doing’ at home and in the garden.
I don’t feel almost 74 and it brings me up short when I realise I am. Maybe I look it - I don’t mind.
I think sometimes I have more energy now, than I did a few years ago.
Keeping active is important, if you can, of course. And spending time with friends and family, chatting and joining clubs and hobbies.
All good for the mental and physical well being, and keeping young at heart.

I was about to add that I remember my grandmothers at my age. I loved them to bits but they looked and acted in a much older way than they really were. They both had false teeth, which was normal then, and one of them had very obvious false teeth; the other not so much so. Their clothes were smart but “old lady” and they both sported the curly perm that was so popular for older ladies then.

i am 61, in my head i am still young, but my body is way ahead due to my health. i have never followed fashion, in my 20's i was wearing twin sets and dresses with the matching jackets, i own one skirt for funerals, i wear straight leg jogging trousers and have dozens of nice tops, who cares what other people think and what do you mean by letting themselves go?

Yes - feel younger than I am. My brain is still mid 30s. Actual age 74 but as long as my health lasts I'm up for any new adventures life sends my way.

My mother-in-law (now 100) has a mobility scooter for days when she wants more shopping than she can carry on her rollator...

When she bought it she chose a particular model as it didn't have a basket and wasn't an "old person's type". She couldn't be seen out with one with a basket apparently!

I think this is the one she chose.

I think we all know ‘old granny’ stuff when we see it!

To my mother’s credit, even at over 80 she refused to buy or wear any such thing, so when she later had dementia and didn’t give a toss any more, I still wouldn’t buy it for her.
