Do you still feel young

I too wish Gransnet had an editing feature, I think this website is the only one without it.

We have to wait until we're grown ups before we're allowed to edit.

Just before this was posted I was thinking back to how my grans dressed. They wore shirt-waister dresses, toning cardi, tan tights & sensible shoes. (maternal gan in navys & rusts -paternal gran pastel dress with pink cardi). And they wore that everywhere - home, shopping, steakhouse, diamond wedding party. I actually felt envious because we accepted they'd reached an age where they wore a sort of "gran uniform" - they didn't have to worry about being under-dressed or over-dressed, about fashion, & with such a limited wardrobe, everything mixed & matched. As someone who can feel inappropriately dressed & self concious whilst walking the dog, although I'm in my 60's, I felt rather envious of them.

yes, I feel that strange sort of envy for older ladies a generation or 2 back. They had their niche carved out and were allowed their status and floral frocks.

I'm with you on this. Haircuts here are forty to seventy pounds so no money for that. Eat well,stay healthy and you'll be smiling from the inside as well as the outside and that's the finest beauty anyone can have 😀💐

yes I do...I'm almost 80...like to have my hair looking nice and buy clothes I like for someone my age....but not old granny stuff...I still feel young inside..untill I try to get out of a chair...

I've come to the conclusion that I didn't start to feel young until I hit sixty (now 78) and stopped caring about what other people thought.

That was a revelation, and although I'd never go out without makeup, my silver hair is well cut and I now wear jeans (which I never did when I was actually young), I've fully accepted my physical age and don't try to look younger than I am. Oddly, I've had more chat-ups from strangers in my seventies than I ever did in my teens - maybe because I've now got all the confidence I lacked then.

I don't think I'm ever going to be a proper grown-up though.

Slightly off tack, but what I envy about my grandmothers is thst when they came to stay they only brought a very small suitcase. So they wore the dress they travelled in with or without a cardigan for a couple of days and then maybe a skirt and blouse. They wore or carried a coat and good leather shoes. They packed sandals. They always looked perfect to me but of course very old.
Packing must have been a doddle compared with the headache packing for holidays is today.
I don't worry too much about how old I feel...or look. I worry more about the progressively fewer years I have ahead of me and hate to think of friends dying. But won't think about that today. I am meeting a couple of friends this week. We met in our 20s and that's how we still feel.

At 75, I don’t really feel any different inside, but I can’t say I really feel young. However I certainly don't and won’t wear any frumpy-old-lady clothes. Nor will I wear anything that looks good only if you’re young and very slim.
