Hope you all had a nice Monday. I was at work today, but on a count down for a trip to Spain on Sunday. It has been a warm and mostly sunny day in my corner of the North East.
My day was made brighter by a piece of my homemade banana bread and a good cup of coffee. It's the small things isn't it.

Good Morning Monday 3rd June 2024
(58 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dry but cloudy start here in brackley this morning.
Today , usual early trip into Bicester , have a coffee etc before a shop around the town.
Return for lunch , followed by a quiet afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick
Good afternoon from currently sunny East Lothian. I managed to sleep for nearly 12 hours! I do have a slight sore throat and sniffly nose so maybe my immune system is fighting off the full-fledged version.
We had a glorious walk yesterday, down at the coast near Dunbar. The tide was out and there were miles of sand and several ‘tide lines’ of seaweed and twigs and shells. There is a river mouth with a large area of low-lying grass and sand. It is rich in wildflowers including big patches of sea thrift making a pink carpet. I will try to add a photo, and one of a ‘stone stack’ we spotted (a popular activity round here).
We need to stock up on food basics. Then maybe some gardening at DD’s before the weather goes downhill. We were planning a trip up the Angus coast and back via the glens, in the campervan, but the forecast is cold, wet and windy so may reconsider.
Welcome to new posters. Glad you are recovering, Blossoming.
Good morning everyone from Severnside and welcome newcomers. I remember reading back in the day Greyjoy and thought’I can do that’.
I’ve just finished most of the housework I’m going to do today, still have to run the cleaner over downstairs. New recipe in the slow cooker for later.
Have a good day all 🌷
Good morning from a warm but cloudy Essex. Been reading all your messages for the last two years and they make me laugh and make me sad. You are such a positive group. At the moment just bought OH bday pressie ready for Thursday and sitting watching the world go by with a cappuccino. Thought I'd better pop out whilst he's at golf. Have a lovely day all and keep healthy x
Yesterday my hubby bought me a 1LT bottle of Country Cream and this morning he gave me £20.00 to do exactly what I like with and he said at the end of the month he's taking me to our local Fine Dine Indian Restaurant, 7eventy1 ! We've been there before, beautiful restaurant, gorgeous food and excellent staff!
Good morning everyone!
It's 15. C. here in little Appleby. I'm a happy bunny as such but still have flu, which I can't shake off no matter how much I try! I'm at work again and basically can't do anything as my whole brain and body is made of concrete! I'm operating the till, serving customers, doing paperwork but I can't concentrate on computer spreadsheets and databases at all so have not plugged in my memory stick!
I've got a ton of grapes here on my desk along with a 1LT carton of Moo banana milk, 2 bottles of water, a Chicken/veg Cup-a-Soup and a can of Monster Ultra - desperately thirsty! HA!
Last night hubby and I watched 8 Year Old Assassin and Bad Seeds with McKenna Grace as the 8 year old evil psycho then the 17 year old.
I'm on duty 3rd 4th and 5th then have a few days off, weeee!
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 15°C.
Not much planned for today. The nasty bug that struck me down on Friday seems to have gone. It was sudden and vicious, I felt so ill and I’m glad it’s gone! My balance is not good at the moment so don’t think I’ll be going out anywhere. I had a lovely walk yesterday but fell over when I was almost home. I have a scraped elbow but am otherwise OK.
What a lovely convivial afternoon GrandMattie, you have made a real effort and fitted in well in the community.
A very warm welcome to Macadia and NangelaMary.
I hope you feel better as the day wears on Marydoll. Headaches are one thing I never suffer from. After years of excruciating blinding migraines they stopped abruptly after the brain injury that almost killed me. I am not proposing that as a cure! Nobody has been able to tell me why, it may have been an AVM that caused them and it was amongst the brain tissue that was destroyed. Anyway, I now have a plan for today, thank you! I am going to cull my bead and findings stash and use the remainder to make some simple bracelets and necklaces for a local charity. They have a few summer events coming up and the jewellery sells well.
Happy Monday everyone 🌻
Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton; it is dry and forecast to stay so all day.
Wore myself out cutting the back grass yesterday afternoon, it had got too long and was very hard work - I got through both batteries on the lawn-mower before it was all done and had to have a long break for one to re-charge before finishing. I also had to get the large fork out to remove some enormous weeds, almost as tall as me. Fed up with waiting for the gardener, goodness knows when he'll be back.
I then sat in the sun and had a beer!
No yoga today as my knee is still painful from falling heavily onto it about 10 days ago. Just taken a couple of Ibuprofen.
A bus trip to the surgery this afternoon for a blood pressure check.
And for the best news - I have a ticket for the rugby 🏉 final at Twickenham this Saturday! So excited! Better make sure I have my best team kit all ready!
Welcome Macadia and congratulations NangelaMary. Lovely to see new names.
Have a good Monday everyone.
Congratulations on the birth of your first grandchild NangelaMary what lovely news!
And a very warm welcome to Macadia too
Thank you all for your lovely comments about my painting. I had to drop art at school to take Latin and I didn't do any art work from then until five years ago. It gives me such satisfaction.
Gingster as Kirk means church I can only think it’s blessing the lads and lasses (boys and girls) in church.
Just in case BBanko doesn’t reply.
Good morning from the Essex coast, cloudy and grey at the moment.
Congratulations to NangelaMary and welcome to Macadia.
Another here who had a baby in the hot summer of 1976. DD1 was born on the 20th June and I remember the babies in the hospital just had nappies on to try and keep them cool.
Admin this morning and a book to finish later.
Have a great Monday everyone and here's hoping the sun is shining somewhere xxx
Good morning Mick and everyone from cool grey Carlisle.
Yesterday saw me out in the garden after lunch, finishing the removal of another aggressive alpine from the gravel garden and replacing it with something better. Then I put in my new azalea elsewhere, its colour is a little outside my comfort zone but it's been proving a real bee magnet which is good.
Today, laundry and housework in the morning and probably a session with my photos on the Mac after lunch.
Welcome and congratulations to you NangelaMary.
And welcome Macadia. I've been through the beautiful western states of the USA, I found them pretty well anti the Orange Man. Still, you'll be safe in Somerset! Where I assume you're from?
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from not so sunny South Yorkshire!
I like to get my house jobs done in Mondays so I have more time in the week- that's the theory!
So today I will be vacuuming and cleaning- wonder how far I will get?
Morning, it’s sunny with some cloud, welcome to Macadia and NangelaMary, congratulations Nangela.
Safe and smooth journey back Ash fingers crossed Urms x
Yesterday was quiet, it didn’t feel like a Sunday, newspaper was finished off, floors washed and general faffing.
Today we’re off to Dorset for a few days, we’ll be very close to the beach, shame the weather is changing.
🦩
Welcome Macadia
Congrats on become a gran NangelaMary and welcome.
We are a friendly bunch if somewhat nosey 🤣🙋♀️
Thankyou so much to everyone for your warm welcomes and Congratulations !
Best Wishes to all.
Good morning all from a dull Black country, weather yesterday was lovely bedding washed ironed and put away .
Today no plans as yet.
Haven't read through yet so will get myself a cuppa ☕ and sit and read everyone's happenings.
Have noticed some new names so welcome to this lovely thread 👋.
Safe travels those on the move, best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
I think we may be in for a third sunny day - is this summer? I need to tackle the inside of the windows which look awful in the sunshine but will have to do the job in stages as we have quite a lot of glass.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a lightly clouded South Yorkshire. I hurt this morning - too much time on my knees weeding yesterday afternoon. Satisfying but I dragged it out too long. I met my new neighbours yesterday morning and had a chat. I hope we’ll get on. A long standing friend rang in the evening for one of our marathon phone conversations. I do wish she lived nearer. Today my patio is being power washed, I have a haircut booked and I will finish and bottle the elderflower cordial I started off yesterday. With any luck I might also get the front lawn cut.
Welcome Macadia and NangelaMary.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from an overcast but mild NE.
SIL came yesterday and we sorted some cupboards in the study. We were looking for the instruction book for a camera, didn't find it but found loads of books about computer stuff and software. The recycle bin will be full soon.
Quiet day today and dinner will be chicken casserole left from Saturday night's dinner.
Congratulations NangelaMary, exciting time.
Good morning all and welcome to Macadia and NangelaMary. Congrats on the new grandson.❤️. N and
We look forward to news from Seattle Macadia
The wind has dropped but it’s a bit hazy here at the Suffolk coast. Yesterday was pleasant but with a chill breeze. Lovely at the back of the summerhouse out of the wind though.
I planted up some geraniums as they are quite hardy and seem to survive the weather here. 🤞. Dh carried on strimming and clearing the ferns. Help arrives this afternoon to get us back to ‘normal’ .
GM I made the mincemeat and orange tea bread and it is delicious. I didn’t think I would find any mincemeat at our small co op but after going up and down the aisle found a jar on the bottom shelf tucked away. Even the shop assistant couldn’t find it.
Safe and troublefree journey home Ash.
Lovely painting Grandmabatty.
Bonnybanko what is ‘Kirking’. Great pic of the boys and girls in traditional dress.
Marydoll hope your chest and headache ease.
Take care everyone 🌸
👋 to Macadia and to NangelaMary good to have you join us.
By the way grandMattie years ago when I copied the style of the Daily Mail by asking the value of a newbie’s property on here, I stopped because very often there’d be a flurry of new joins who posted once or twice then disappeared so, being #lazygran I could be bothered to keep it up!
🤣
Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country, after a lovely hot and sunny day yesterday.
A fairly relaxing day yesterday, I cut the lawn, then read under the gazebo. BBQ for our evening meal.
Today is my walking group this morning, then Line Dancing this afternoon.
My DS was born Dec 1975 Liberty. We lived in Essex then and I remember the same with him sleeping outside in the shade in his large silver cross pram wearing only a nappy.! I remember that even in January it was bright and sunny. So he slept outside albeit wrapped up warmly.
Welcome to Macadia and NangelaMary congratulations on the birth of your first grandchild. Happy times.
Good morning everyone from a sunny hillside in south Glos, another beautiful day here.
I enjoyed sitting outside and knitting yesterday, I finished the first sock so I’m on a roll!
The garden is looking lovely and it’s so uplifting to have the sunshine to enjoy it.
I had a long call with dd, lots to natter about.
Today I will walk the dog then spend as much time as possible outside, I believe the weather’s getting cooler again through the week 🙄. I have more bird feeders to put up too.
I hope that those feeling poorly or troubled find comfort 🙏
Have a lovely week 🌹
