EEK! Michael Mosley Missing in Greece

Seems Mosley’s children flew to Greece to join the search for their father today.

Alexander, Jack, Daniel and Katherine are understood to be planning to retrace his last known steps to help discover what happened to the 67 year old.

There's now photos of him with with an umbrella having reached a town.

I saw that too.
I think it was the town where they were staying.
And there are two witnesses as well that saw him?

If it was him[looks like it to me] then he didnt fall off a path. But that still doesnt explain what has happened to him since the cctv or whatever it is.

From the two articles I’ve read it seems he left his phone at the house he was staying at on the other side of the bay and took the boat to the beach with his wife and the couple he was hosting. He then decided to walk back. It’s a well prepared but steep and sometimes rocky track over to Pedi but he was alleged to have been sighted in Pedi, he would then have had a fairly easy walk through fairly well populated areas back to where he was staying. My husband often forgets to take his phone when we go out perhaps he just forgot to take it with him.

I hope it isn’t a publicity stunt for some sort of endurance experiment, that would be unforgivable.

I really don't think that sounds likely. He would know how much worry he would be causing to his family.

It is possible for people to disappear, though. As someone said, Steven Fry. Also Agatha Christie.

As his phone was left behind, presumably it has been checked for anything that might indicate his intentions - though if he had planned to meet someone, perhaps he had another phone… I really do hope he is safe, and that he is not deliberately putting his family though this torture. Assuming he’d had an awful accident was the easy and obvious reaction.

Following this with interest and care because I really like him..and his advice...did he maybe...for reasons unknown...get on a boat???

He wrote in Daily Mail that he once suffered from amnesia after he went swimming in Cornwall. His wife took him to hospital and his memory slowly returned after 24 hours.

That could be it. He suffered another episode of amnesia after swimming and get on a boat?

I've just caught up with this thread and hope he hasn't been kidnapped.

He wasn't following his own advice although carrying a parasol to avoid the midday sun was sensible despite leaving his phone with his wife.
I had been joking with my yoga class about his walking backwards just one thing at the very time he must have vanished. It shocked me.

I so hope he's found safe. 🙏

strange to not have a phone with you especially when in a strange country and going for a 'walk'!

I agree lemsip. DH has just returned from a dog walk here in France. (Long story why dog needed to avoid a certain route today), DH used his phone as a map to find a different path. He also paid for a quick coffee at a bar. And most importantly he could have used it to make contact.

We are in Greece atm and my husband forgot his phone yesterday. He left it on the bed as we were preparing to go out. Anybody can forget their phone on occasion.

My thoughts go out to his family .
Goodness knows what's happened to him .

Agree, but then you don't go off on your own, when you're getting on a bit in age, in the searing midday sun, on a hike!

The searing midday sun can affect you without your realising it. When I was in Jerusalem in a heatwave (October, which was supposed to be a cooler month) I suffered from heat exhaustion, became totally disorientated, left £200 in shekels on a table in the Old City and wouldn't have got back to our hotel without my son's help. I didn't feel it coming on, other than that I felt warm. I learnt from it but had no idea it was about to happen.

According to reports he was on the beach with his wife and the other couple who were on holiday with them. If the 4 of them set off from the accommodation together and the original plan was to stay together he possibly thought there was no need to take his phone.

These are the last few hours of hope, efforts are now concentrated on a very steep and dangerous area, so easy for a non-local to have taken the wrong direction and ended up on slippery rocky steep scree. It worries me that he would not have much water with him. Lots of prayers are needed

I didn't expect to be so affected by his disappearance. But he is so well known and respected, that I am sure many people who don't know him personally are really worried about him.
Sadly though, as time passes, I'm not expecting a good outcome from this.

I feel the same way. I keep looking on the news and hoping that he is found ok. Time is running out though. I feel so sorry for his wife and family as they must be past themselves. Also it is such a small island so where the hell is he?

I was thinking - what if he went back to the house where they are stay and went into the cellar (if they have a one) and fell and bumped his head. Have they checked the house? Just my thoughts.

He obviously told the people he was with that he fancied taking the coast path back. That seems reasonable and we now know he made it back to the town. I wonder why he would then have gone on further, past where they were staying, only to have to turn back at some point. Would he not have mentioned this to the others? All rather odd.

I agree fancyflowers I am feeling so sad about it. I suppose because he is so well known...it just doesn't seem believable. On a lovely holiday. Not doing something risky like hang gliding. But of course the heat is a risk that we probably underestimate living in N Europe.
You feel for his wife and children. They must fear the worst. But hope for the best.

I really like his presentation too, he certainly talks a lot of sense. I’m afraid I can’t think of a good outcome after all this time without water in searing temperatures. As for going walking without a phone, there were two sisters near me who went out jogging on a remote canal path with no phone. One of them tripped over a tree root and fractured her ankle so badly that it cut off blood supply to her foot. By the time she got to hospital it was too late and she had her foot amputated. I never now walk without a phone.

Surely a lesson to everyone to take their 'phone when they are going anywhere alone - not about fear but sensible precaution. A friend of mine walking in an isolated area found a woman who had fallen off her horse and broken her leg. She didn't have a 'phone and couldn't walk. My friend was able to call the emergency services and get the air ambulance to her. Goodness knows how long she might have been there otherwise!
