Sorry, yes I also find those long posts sans paragraphs, really difficult to read and I often find I've missed bits. Maybe your post will lead to a reduction in them. Hope so.

Also, long un-paragraphed posts where punctuation and capitalisation are absent, which deal with family problems where those family members' relationship to the poster are abbreviated (ie, 'other half', 'darling husband', 'darling daughter', etc) are very confusing if the abbreviation is not capitalised.

It just reads like a monologue with a salad of random letters scattered here and there.

I can understand writing spontaneously to get the whole thing written down - but a deep breath and some going over it before posting might help the poster as well as those reading the post, to collect their thoughts.

What are "the rules" on how and when to write paragraphs, please?

Yes, normally, but online, It is easier to read if new paragraphs are frequent, after three or four lines at most.

Yes that's what I remember being taught.

I think for writing, now, up to seven lines can make up a paragraph.

I’m now worrying that people just don’t read my posts. I guess it does explain why nobody answers them .

I am visually impaired and cannot read any posts typed with the caps lock on.

I was taught that a new paragraph should be started when there's a change of person, place, time or topic. Those very long posts certainly don't take account of the first three, do they?

Writing and reading on a screen is very different from writing or reading something that is on paper. I think thtat on screen it helps if paragraphs are shorter than they would be on paper.

However, one is taught the rules to everything so that you know when they need to be applied and when they can broken.
