Yia, that sounds so frightening about your Dh. I hope they can get to the root* of it soon. As for that ‘other’ thread, I doubt anyone in the Kitchen gives a fig for how you spell! We’re just interested in you. *I glanced back over my post and spotted that I’d spelt root as route. I’m sure you’d still have understood my point even with the wrong spelling. Xxx

A funny old day here. We decided to go to Waitrose, which is a 45min trip away. I wanted some decent ready meals to keep us going for the next few days. I’m sick of them and doubt I’ll ever want another one again once I have my kitchen back! Also,got a few other things to keep us going, such as ready made G&T’s. Though I doubt I can match Neine’s impressive record! I then took the long way home through the countryside, which was lovely.

I took the opportunity when we got home to do a bit in the garden, tidying away the last of the bulb leaves, some deadheading and tied in the roses. The rain came on then so we beat a hasty retreat indoors. Dh and I will have one of the aforementioned G&T’s soon and then it’s off to bed. 😴

soop is the name of the gracious lady who started this gentle, safe kitchen for us to gather, pop in and be kind to each other.

Life is just a bowl of cherries. Which as we all know isn’t true. It couldn’t be. But every now and again it can seem that way can’t it, when life is smooth? We have to learn to make the most of what we have. Which is often more than some.

I do hope your husband is stable now and can be at home with you. It’s a more than difficult time for you both. We’re all here when you need us. Same for you nannyg4 and anyone finding life tough. Nearly forgot, hope you’re better very soon blossoming, frustrating for sure.

A frustrating day here. I’m desperate to do some garden sorting, the wind is just too strong to make any time outside enjoyable. Enjoyed Trooping the Colour this morning before wandering out, it avoided climbing the walls from frustration. MOf course we found ourselves in a garden centre and in spite of being clear there is no more plant room couldn’t resist a beautiful fuchsia. Oh dear.

Time for some food, not much as we ate at lunch time, maybe a glass of wine too.

His, sorry you’re having such a difficult time at the moment and hope that your DH comes home this evening and that the medics get to the bottom of the problem soon. Don’t worry about the spellings etc, I’ve got fat fingers so type some strange words sometimes!

I’m looking for a cosy corner, my TMJ dysfunction has reared its ugly head again and I’m trying not to move my head too much. I’ve had a couple of painkillers earlier which has calmed it down somewhat. I can’t take anymore so fingers crossed!

dragonfly Yes, it isn't "all in the mind"...it is a fact that the medication, although meant to do a necessary job, can take one hell of a bite out of life's simple pleasures. I am totally exhausted.

I was drenched on my walk this morning. Will this rain ever stop? A hot cup of coffee was very welcome when I dried off. It's not very warm either.
I know some kitcheners are having hard times and I wish you all well and hope things improve for you soon. A special wish for Doodle who had to put up with me in the Argy at one time.

Hello Kitcheners.I’m thinking of you all.

It’s been a traumatic couple of days.DH was admitted to hospital yesterday they were concerned about the anaemia and bleeding more so because he had a brain aneurysm although that was many years ago. .His bloods are not great especially the liver and heart.He’s been on a drip for 10 hours now told he can home later today.His consultant feels he will be better to be home and return as an outpatient for more tests and scans. It’s all so worrying,will be good to know what’s wrong.

We are having a French evening in the village next month, so tonight we are having chicken chasseur with neighbours to check out the recipe. I am making the lemon posset for dessert - quick and easy. It should be a fun evening. I’m putting possets out for you to try!
Do I garden or iron for the rest of the day? Always tricky decisions! I have just opened the window and it’s chilly so that might sway my decision!

I’m sorry to read of the illnesses, the sadnesses and other difficult things in the Kitchen. I’m sending a warm, cosy blanket to snuggle you all into.

Life is still a frantic pace here. No workmen today but instead a day of childcare and doing our laundry at dd1’s. The latter is all clean now and we have fresh bed linen to sleep in tonight. The two GC were pretty well behaved today, just some minor disputes. Daddy came home at about 7:15, as I guessed he would for the football.

We had a torrential storm while we were in M&S with GS1. He was agog at the sound of the rain in the shops’s tin roof! When it eased up enough to go to the car, I found that the rear half was now sitting in a giant puddle so I had to move it before we could get gs into his car seat in the back without being in water up to our ankles. . The garden needed the rain, though, so it’s saved me the job of watering.

Ds1 had had his final (we hope) treatment for now and moves on to a maintenance regime for the foreseeable. He seems to be ok today, just a bit out of sorts. Dd2 is going to see him next week which will cheer him up.

Hello kitchen people.
I spent the morning doing ironing and laundry. This afternoon it was WI admin. It never stops! I am trying to turn a 6-page document into two sides of A4 so the ladies will feel like reading it!
Soop, I too took an anti cancer drug for five years. Anastrozole. My hair got very thin at the front and my eyebrows are nonexistent! However, even though I stopped taking it a couple of years ago, my hair is still thin because of the alupurinol I take for gout! I can’t win.

I’m thinking of so many of you with insurmountable problems. Life can be so difficult.

Soop, I do hope your oncologist will be able to offer a kinder treatment. My fingers are crossed.
