Our mozzies live in the water butts and I always have a squadron of them circling me, waiting to pounce! Although, having said that, I’m often bitten when there’s no sign of them… They avoid everyone else!

That sounds very uncomfortable Whethertomorrow. Are you able to take an antihistamine tablet? I find they help with allergic reactions to bites and stings, plus a cream such as antisan cream.

Also, an insect repellent containing deet might help you.

You have my sympathy they love chobbling away at me as well. I can be standing next to my husband and he doesn't get even one bite. I've had that under a tightly fitting ring and you wonder how the little devils get there.

Germaline also good on bites.We were asleep the other night and I was woken up by a whine going past my head, put the light on and found a small mozzie on the wall by the bed.
Zapped it.In the morning found I had two bites, they don’t hurt at the time sneaky little buggers.

I get bitten all the time. I swear, even when there's snow on the ground they'll find me. It drives me nuts. They particularly like my feet. I know this is supposed to be linked to odour but honestly, my feet are dainty and not smelly at all.

This happened to me last summer and I had to have my wedding and engagement ring cut off as my finger had swollen so much. I’m always being bitten - I hate the little buzzers!

I’m the same. Get bitten and suffer the bites for days. I take a B1 supplement which helps from February each year. When I’ve been bitten I take a B6 supplement as well which helps with the healing.

Several year ago we went to Venice and having been told of the high number of mosquitos that year, I rather inelegantly tucked thick socks into my shoes and wore long sleeves. I was also smothered in some sort of cream that had been recommended. Suffice it to say, I got badly bitten. I had a a custard yellow lump about the size of an egg cut in half on my leg, subsequently with red streaks running from it up and down my leg. The pain was dreadful. After struggling for the whole of that day we found a Pharmacist who dispensed, I know not what, however it worked. But for several days I had to pluck up courage to put my foot down. I had always been the one on the beach the these little devils homed in on, but nothing like this. I was told it was a result of the canal water being so polluted, don’t know whether this was true.

A friend told me that he and his wife are half a teaspoon of Marmite every day and mosquitos now avoid them. I don't know if that really works or they've suddenly become luckier.

My df got a tick bite here last week which concerned me. There are roe deer all around.

I have suffered terribly from mosquito bites, both as a child and an adult, and would be covered in bites every time I went abroad. To make matters worse, I had an allergic reaction to many of them. Strangely, for the last few years I have escaped their clutches. This seemed to coincide with the start of the menopause, no idea if that's the reason, but I'm obviously not so tasty any more!

DH refers to me as his insect repellant, I get perhaps 49 on each leg and he is untouched, despite me covering up and using repellent and him in shorts. Life is not fair! But if he does get one, boy do I hear about it, almost as if I have failed him!😄

I have heard it is the female hormones that attract the mosquitos.

I used to live near the river in Blandford and so the dreaded, well known locally Blandford Fly used me for its three square meals a day. The local GP told me to wear trousers to prevent them getting at my skin. I did and one little buzzer got inside, under my pants elastic and had himself a good meal, probably because he couldn't see an escape route. Yep, it hurt - a lot. We've now moved to a (fairly) buzzer free area.

I am allergic to mosquito bites and have to take Rx penicillin if I'm ever bitten.
The ONLY repellant that works for me is Jungle Formula Maximum (has to be maximum strength). I have sprats, rolll-on's of it all over the house plus one in my handbag.
Many years ago I was badly bitten and ended up in hospital on a drip whereby the bites on my legs were drained of poison. Still have scarring.
My mum was affected exactly the same and so is my daughter, although not as bad as I am.
I've read that being a certain blood type is a contributory factor.
I'm O+, my mum was A+ as is my daughter.
My husband is A+ and the little s*ds fly over him to get to me !!!
