My son-in-law was out running earlier and was hit by a cyclist (on a shared use path). He has a shoulder injury and is now in his second A&E as the nearest one said waiting time was at least 8 hours and he probably wouldn’t be seen until tomorrow morning. The next nearest to his home is standing room only. He is in considerable pain. I am so angry 😡

I am as OK as I can be at the moment. I gritted my teeth and hoped it would settle - which it eventually did. The last time I contacted help I spent 15 hours in A&E and caught covid - it was not a heart attack, but a cardiologist is trying to get to the bottom of the chest pain and AF.

It is so hard to know what to do when I know that there have been several occasions when it has settled gradually of its own accord, as long as I do not exert myself. I am at the end of my rope with all this - walking on eggshells and not really knowing what I can or can't do; or when my symptoms are serious. I have a problem with my biliary system which can also cause chest pain.

Glad to hear you're OK Luckygirl. Have you gone home or are you still in the shepherd's hut?

Luckygirl3 I'm sure you've thought of it, but I think you need to report this episode to them to help build a picture.

So glad to hear you got through the night 😊

I’m glad to hear things settled down for you, Luckygirl13. Your situation sounds very worrying. I hope you can find some medical advice without having to spend hours in A&E.

My son-in-law was home in time to watch the football! His shoulder is back in place and he has an impressive sling. Next week DD and SiL have a week off work - originally intended to be a ‘working’ week, demolishing some old sheds at the end of their garden and other useful jobs. A rethink may be required!

I wonder if the cyclist has thought about him at all?

Litterpicker I'm glad your SiL is mended together and back safely at home. Hopefully not too much pain.

Oh good! He does need to be careful for a while.

I had an impressive sling too, none of your triangular bandages tied round the neck now! Soft, padded, navy blue with lots of velcro.

if someone has booked annual leave, but is then sick or injured, such that they would have been off sick from work, they may be able to report sick, and reclaim their annual leave.
that was the case where i worked.
guess it depends on one's contract of employment.
it's worth checking.

I was in casualty overnight recently and then admitted for a week with a neurological illness. My neighbour took me in as she was concerned. We arrived at 4.30pm,triaged within the hour then had bloods and ecg . Saw Dr about 11pm. Admitted to a ward at 3am. My neighbour stayed with me until midnight then left. I was in a trolley in a queue of trolleys in a corrider.
The most unnerving aspect was the amount of police and prisoners in handcuffs there. Lots of shouting swearing. One woman ran past me with police in pursuit. When you are feeling vulnerable and ill this was terrifying. Nobody comes to you to ask if you are ok. It was a relief to be on a ward although there was a security alert at 6am with a man swearing in the unit. I was on the assessment unit attached to casualty.
Don't think I will venture to casualty again in a hurry. It's a pity the gps have been unable to offer appointments or try to accelerate my referral to neurology. I managed to see gp 2 days before to say I was deteriorating and her reply was " What can I do ? It's a year's wait to see the neurologist or pay to go private " " Or go to casualty "

And there are qualified GPs who can't find jobs because the Tories wouldn't pay for the extra GP posts needed in Primary care so people understandably go to A&E which results in chaos. 14 years of Tory rule has been a disaster for health care in the UK.
