I had a very lazy day yesterday, reading my book, and it looks as if today will be much the same. I'm glad some of you are enjoying all the sport and Glastonbury on TV ......... I personally think it's a bit of an overkill. Mutter mutter.

Good morning from a cooler NE, the heating came on.
Yesterday was damp and overcast all day.
I decided not to go to GD's concert as it was an outdoor one, I am getting too old for standing around in the rain. When I spoke to DS later he said they had moved into the sports hall.
I was in bed at midnight when I started getting messages from GD1 who was just in from her summer job. She is working as a waitress at a boutique hotel. She said her feet were really hurting as they asked her to wear ballet pumps, she normally wears sensible shoes with considerable soles.
It had been her college prom the night before and she sent a photo of her in an elegant black strapless dress.

Today DD and SIL are visiting and will be staying for dinner, need to check the wine cellar for a decent bottle, don't drink plonk when they are here.
They were out to dinner last night with his brother whose 65th birthday it was. DD used to play in a band with him so I knew him before I met SIL. Dear me the years have flown by.

Good morning from a very dull & cool Sefton. It has just started to drizzle. What a disappointing summer we are having here in the north west. The weeds are loving it. It poured all morning yesterday so cancelled our day out at the flower show. So disappointed but just couldn't face getting wet & probably muddy as well. We did make it to our social evening with the Lions club. Absolutely no plans for today. Will have a pottering day & slow cook a large fruity lamb casserole. There should be enough for dinner & some to freeze.
Ouch Marydoll. Surely everyone knows the good old fashioned remedy for a bang on the head is a lie in the bath🫤.....just out of interest, would that suggestion have been with or without hot water!?🤔 Wishing you & everyone a quiet peaceful Sunday.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but dry.

A lovely lunch yesterday with the family to celebrate younger DGD's 14th birthday 🎂. Sat in their garden, drank fizz and wine and chatted. And also had chocolate cake....
Didn't do much else when I got home except watch some tv (definitely not football!).

It is our village fun day today, so I may go to that; the only problem being that our bus to the village doesn't run on a Sunday and it is a good 40 minute walk all uphill. However the bus in the opposite direction runs, so I may get that which would make it only a 15 minute walk at the other end which is more doable for me.

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country, where it rained overnight.

Busy day yesterday. Arrived home late morning from our overnight stay in a Hotel after DIL's 50th party Friday night. Then over to see DGD4 in her school play. Time to take her home to find I had a flat tyre! There was a nail in it. SIL came over and re-inflated, and it has stayed up, but need to go to a tyre place today, to either have it fixed or a new tyre.

Hoping to cut lawn today and a general tidy up. BBQ for our meal tonight. Sun is trying to peep out now!

Good morning Michael and all GNs. I woke up late this morning. It’s dry in South Yorkshire with sun breaking through now and again, but I fancy we might have had some rain overnight. I cut the front lawn and did rather a lot of weeding yesterday which left me drained. Today I plan to start cutting the back lawn if the weather holds. We’ll see. Other than that, and change my bed linen, I don’t plan to do a lot.

I too am following the Tour, Mick, how painful to see Mark Cavendish struggling in the heat of Italy yesterday...I hope he gets over it.

Yesterday was the usual Saturday morning...nipping out to Sainsbury's and then a long phone chat with my sister down south. Then I mowed the front lawn, still little growth except for flower stalks. After lunch I moved a little conifer into the spot where I'd removed a struggling rose. There's a lot of black spot about this year probably because of all the rain which one or two other things are sulking about too.
This gives me a reason to head for the garden centre later, I have spots to fill. Well that is the real reason, not the free cake I know is on offer....

You are talented in the flower arranging department as well grandMattie!

Good morning from a dull cooler Suffolk but no rain yet. It sounds as though the sun has disappeared from most of the country.

Yesterday we went to Dunwich with the dog for our morning walk where,at 10am the beach car park was as full as as a day in the summer holidays with a large number of motor homes as well as cars. We are always surprised that most people sit on the beach just a few yards from the path and if you walk a few hundred yards along the beach,there are only a few people fishing or walking.

Coffee and cake at our cafe Gingster which was peaceful and quiet although they’d had a very busy day on Friday as they had sold out of cake and the freshly baked ones were just appearing.

Today a visit by DS and family but not DGD1 who will be working. She’s anxious to earn as much money as possible before heading off to University( A level results dependent!) in September.

Good morning all . It’s a bit dull here in Essex but I’m enjoying the coolness (I know I’m strange) ☺️.

Yesterday we watched the tennis final from Eastbourne. So good! How they play in such heat I’ll never know. Two spectators had to be stretchered out at different times. 🥵.

Today I’ll wait to hear if Dd is coming here and I’ll take little DGD for her swimming lesson. She’s gone up a class but the teacher pushed her down to the bottom to pick up weights and she didn’t like that. It’s put her off and made her nervous. Why would you do that.! 😠.

Mizuna I hope the pain gets under control and you can come home soon to your magical patio. 🤞.

I felt better for a run through of my songs yesterday after an aborted visit to our best park because of rain. Then a long chatty FaceTime with my sister in the south in the evening.
I might have a walk in the sand dunes today, I need the exercise although some sun would be nice..

DGS1’s school fair almost bankrupted me yesterday, but we did well on the bottle tombola. I’m going to watch him swimming this morning, then do something with DD2 and DGS2 later, a bit awkward as I have Little Dog, so have to work around that.

Extravagant flowers

Good morning from a grey Bristol.

I overslept - I shall read your posts later. I think I’m catching up from the holiday and doing too much yesterday. I have to admit that cleaning a whole aisle, involving dusting and brushing every chair, was rather a lot.

The flowers turned out beautifully, but I’m afraid the arrangement turned out tone the largest and most flamboyant in the church - looked rather like showing off! I was the first in the church and finished long before most of the other arrangers…

Once home, I finished the memory quilt I’ve been making for the demented widower of one of our residents. Hope it helps him.

Quietish later. Church, then DS is coming over for dinner and night, the DGS is coming for th3 night before they go to Snowdon for a few days.

Later today I’m meeting DD2 to view a potential new house she’s interested in. Hopefully it’ll be suitable, her choice is a bit restricted as she’s wanting to stay in the same school catchment area that she’s in now.

Mizuna, you sound as if you have been well looked after. I didn't think you would have a G.A, because of your medical issues. I was the same and was positive I would never feel my toes again! 🤭 Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Yesterday I had a bump on the head, when my hand held liquidiser fell from a shelf and hit me on the top of the head.
I had been bothered with vertigo all day, so I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing.
Boy was it painful!🤯🥴. I thought I was seeing double, but it turned out, that I had knocked off my glasses. 🥴😉
Through my sobbing, I heard Mr MD's suggestion: Why don't you go and lie in the bath ? My reply is unprintable.
This is why I have a script pinned beside the phone in case he ever needs to phone again for an ambulance. ( He gas previous convictions) Dealing with crises are not his forte.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. This evening DS and DIL are taking us to a concert as a present to DH. Unfortunately when it was booked nobody knew England would be playing. I am sure there will be phone checking during the interval!! It’s ages since I have had to think what to wear obviously we don’t get out much.
