Takeaways are rip offs

I only have a takeaway from somewhere I know, because I'm a bit finicky about trying any old place.

I had an Indian takeaway a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious.

I hadn't had an Indian in so long I had to choose from somewhere I had never tried, so it was a gamble, but I chose the one that has been there for 20 odd years.

My Indian takeaway is fantastic.

Not had a bad takeaway, not that I have many but every now and then a Chinese or Indian

I dont own the takeaway obviously but consider it 'mine'

We rarely have a takeaway but always collect, having ordered in advance - they don’t deliver in the sticks. Always very tasty, no complaints. Indian or Chinese.

Perhaps you ordered the wrong dish if you thought it was bland.

I hate the expression ‘rip off’.

The only takeaway we have is Chinese, always hot, very tasty never bland or greasy.

Our Chinese takeaway is the same although it took a while to find a good one GG. We stopped getting Indian though because never managed to find one we particularly liked and they always seem so expensive.

I'm not keen on the expression ripped off because that sounds like they are setting out to cheat you.
There are so many takeaways because people lead busy lives, it's convenient, and most importantly, people like the taste.
We have a good Chinese.

Some soy sauce would probably have made a big difference if you thought it was too bland.

I think you've been unlucky in your choice. I have a couple of takeaway restaurants which I use occasionally and I'm rarely disappointed.

We rarely have takeaway but if we do it’s generally Indian. I’ve bought Morrisons bags of takeaway and they are ok. At least we know what we’re buying.

I wish I could find a great takeaway. It would be lovely to have one as a treat.

We have three excellent Indian restaurants that do takeaway and two good Indian take always.
I avoid Chinese because the meat free options are limited and the msg or whatever it is leaves me feeling grungy

I see what you mean about the phrase ripped off, I've never thought of the real meaning I suppose. I don't know their overheads but it was expensive and not worth it.

I honestly couldn't tell you the last time we had a takeaway - it must be several years now, certainly before Covid. However, we are taking our little grandson away for a couple of days in our motorhome this week and we'll be visiting a seaside town which has a very good fish and chip shop, so we may well be indulging in fish and chips by the sea!
Our next-door neighbours get takeaways almost every single day - they even get breakfast delivered from McDonalds! I've no idea how they can afford it, as they have a big family and it must cost a fortune.

Well I take issue with your heading Takeaways are a rip off well that’s not true, your own takeaway may have been a rip off but not everyone’s takeaways are so a bit of a damming title

The only takeaways we have are from the local fish and chip shop when the grandchildren come to us for the day. Apart from that, we have never had a takeaway meal, it just doesn’t appeal to us. We have takeaway menus pushed through our letterbox but they seem very pricey. We do occasionally have the M and S dine in offer which is very good value.

I used just eat to get my takeaway treat. However, on my last delivery of fish and chips I watched the idiot driver for 20 minutes drive up and down the wrong part of my road. He then gave it to someone else/ kept it himself and marked it delivered. I contacted justeat for a refund. They refused saying it had been delivered. I don’t have takeaways anymore, but it’s difficult cooking for just one.

The only takeaway we ever have is fish and chips, otherwise we prefer to just wander down to a local restaurant, whether, Indian, pizza or anything else and eat on site. No wrappings, no fuss, and no washing up.

I've had an occasional takeaway from the nearest Chinese and they have always been lovely. And in other places I've lived. I honestly don't consider them a rip off.

We’ve used two local restaurants, one Chinese and one Indian for quite a few years now, both very reliable. A meal for two is about £17 for Chinese and £20 for Indian, there’s usually some left over.

We had a Chinese takeaway on Sat night. It was £30 and a few pence for 3 of us. We don’t have one very often and it was perfect.

No takeaways here apart from pizza. It would be lovely after a hard day's work to ring up and order a Chinese or Indian meal. Can't have everything I suppose as we live in a very peaceful rural area.

I live five minutes drive from the famous Manchester curry mile. We have access to all the city center restaurants as well. We have an Indian, Thai or Chinese meal about every couple of months and have never had a bad one. Its not cheap but we do it for a treat.
