Good Morning Wednesday 3rd July 2024

Good morning from the Sarthe where we have a brightish start to the day.

Yesterday we spent quietly as we were both quite tired from our day out in Tours. By late afternoon it was raining so we felt lucky to have chosen Monday to go further afield.

Today our cleaner/gardener is due. As she is a friend as well, this usually entails extended chats over coffee before work begins. As a single mother to three (almost) grown up boys, life isn’t easy for her. She’s British and looks after the house, including the two cats, when DH is visiting Torbay.

Happy hump day, everyone, especially those with worries or in pain. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning Mick and all who follow from the Black country, it's a wet start here today but weather should improve slightly.
DH fishing so it's another early start to the day.
My plans as yet undecided will see how the weather goes, although the inside of the windows could do with cleaning.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's been raining and cool air is wafting through my half-opened window. Today, more of the same recovery schedule and probably quite a lot of TV. Seems so tame compared with what I usually do but I shall try to be patient. 😉 My son starts a three-day photography project on a beach, capturing watersports for PR purposes. What a life! 😁

Good morning all it feels much cooler here on the east coast of Fife looking out from my ring doorbell it’s appears to have been raining. I’ve lots to do today so must get a move on.

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It has or is about to rain so is cooler.

Tours cathedral looks gorgeous, Ash. Religion is disestablished in France, so why the state is responsible for the buildings? Perhaps as National monuments?

I had a rubbish night to follow a rubbish day! It started with the tai chi leader who was even later than usual and gave us barely half a class. It does annoy me.

Came home to an expected power cut, due to work outside my window. No hot drink, cold lunch. Zoom lecture on iPad.

As I needed to go to town, I went for a bus. It was cancelled due to an accident, so stupidly,I decided to go to a different bus stop. Got Ona bus. Right bus wrong direction. After 20 minutes feeling, more and more lost, I established that I needed to get off. By then, thoroughly lost, I called an Uber, which took me to town.

It took me no more than 20 minutes to do my shopping, I had got a pensioner discount, yay, bus stop again. Blooming bus cancelled! So waited more. Finally home nearly 4 hours after leaving. Normally it would have taken me about 90 minutes.

Still no power! Then when it came back, it kept on shorting. Fortunately, the national grid chaps were still there (just) and sorted me out. I was pooped by the end.

Today is going to be a bit busy again. Can’t go on like this…

Good morning, it’s cloudy and cool here in south Glos but no rain yet - the garden could really do with some please!
I met my friend for coffee yesterday at the garden centre (I I only bought one plant!) , it was so lovely seeing her. We first met 50+ years ago, our children grew up together. She’s off to visit her DD (my goddaughter) in the USA soon, I might go with her next time which would be amazing. We’re also thinking about going on holiday to Ireland to see the west coast and the Giant’s Causeway sometime. Something to look forward to! I have always wanted to visit it but DH refused to go.
Today is catching up on housework and watching more of the Tour de France.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's much too cold. Brrr. 8°C
I enjoyed having almost all my family here but it's bittersweet as they disperse. The Kiwis are now with the other DGP and cousins in England.

Our American cousin has arrived and is a lovely consolation. I'll take her to yarn group today. She's brought her knitting. I doubt she was expecting such a drop in temperature.

Good morning from Westport Co Mayo. I think there has been some rain overnight.

We spent several pleasant hours yesterday in the grounds of Westport House. The children had fun in the adventure playground and we walked the dogs all around the grounds and woodlands. Before that though, my son in law had had an early start as he was up and out just after 5am and took himself up to the top of Croagh Patrick, the local mountain which is considered to be a holy place. Neither DH nor I are up to clambering up hills at present so declined the invitation to join him. 😃

Plans for today are fairly fluid but may involve one of the beautiful local beaches and, for me, a wander around the town so that I can pop in and out of some of the little shops.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Damp and dreary in South Yorkshire. Yesterday turned out to be a better day weather wise than was promised. I am having a new back door fitted this morning, and a couple of windows repaired. Depending on how long it takes, I may or may not get to my writer’s group this afternoon. We’ll see.

Good morning from a cloudy, wet Essex. I shan’t have to water the garden this evening and hopefully the water barrels are being refilled.
DD2 will be working from here for a few hours today, it will be nice to have some company, although I don’t interrupt her much.

Good morning to all on this wet and miserable looking morning in North Yorkshire. Had a rotten night, really struggling with various aches and pains but worst is my back , which of course affects everything else. I had plans to do
a lot of
things today but most of those now cancelled unless my back improves! Still this afternoon I am going to the disabled swimming group. Swimming helps a bit anyway and they have various bits of equipment to use in the water. They have a seat to put me in the water as getting in and especially getting out are very difficult, so fingers crossed I shall feel a bit better by the end of that and tonight is my night of extravagance! I splash out £4 and have a very good evening at the whist drive in a local village. £2 to play and £2 for raffle tickets. We ar all keen players, it is well run, and our prizes are done in the old fashioned way, They are put out and range from eggs and bacon, a free range chicken, biscuits and fruit and some tinned goods. The winners choose what they want so it is not a set list , so the other week I won a dozen free range eggs, which have been lovely and fresh. So it is fun, with a bit of banter and we have one chap, a farmer , who always seems to be a winner of the raffle and we tease him and ask if he has brought a trailer for his prizes. I enjoy it all, the game makes you think enough to take your mind off aches and pains and it is great company when you have been on your own all week. Fingers crossed the weather improves and hope you are all able to have a good day.

Good morning everyone from a rather damp Northampton; supposed to clear up by the afternoon. Busy morning yesterday, cleaning, clearing and sorting kitchen cupboards. Got rid of an ancient frying pan and assorted odd lids; everything looks much neater now. Did the same to the utility room cupboard

Joined my walking group yesterday afternoon, and then walked home rather than wait for the bus - did over 4 miles and more than 10,000 steps. Just got on the.scales and have lost a pound!

More cleaning this morning, dust removal and hoovering upstairs. No plans for the afternoon yet, may just sit and read. Some banking to do on the laptop.

Good morning from a damp Oxfordshire, the heating has clicked on, but the wind has dropped, maybe the sun will come out later.

We are looking at tiles today, a bit of a long drive away but the website looks promising, hopefully we can get the bathroom refurb on track again, now things are back to normal.

Good morning all and it’s cold and wet here In Essex. Very chilly in bed last night.

My Bridge partner, yesterday seemed very confused and not at all ‘with it’ yesterday. Oh dear, quite worrying. I don’t think she should have been driving home. She has a very fast sports car.!

Today I’ll take DGD to school , Dh will go fishing and I’ll walk up to the market in town. All dependant on how wet it is at the time.
I’ll meet my friend for coffee and go to M and S.

Yesterday I had my own irksome day. Dgs2 was not a cooperative child for the entire day. I don't know what ailed him, but nothing suited him. I was glad to hand the boys back to their parents.
Today is my lazy day. I have a little ironing to do and tumble drying stuff for dd. Other than that, I will potter happily. I want to do a spot of weeding. I shall probably make gooseberry jam too. Chorizo and gnocchi in a rich tomato sauce for dinner. I made it last night and it was delicious. I'll add basil today to brighten it up. Have a good day all.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve no idea what the weather is like as I’m still in bed!

I will be sorting out things for our forthcoming trip to Devon on Friday. I have a dental appointment today and a WI committee meeting - if I’m back from the dentist in time.

OH will make a final visit to see his bees before our holiday as he has an appointment with a physio tomorrow concerning his knees.

DH and I are slowly recovering from a nasty bout of covid. We are so pleased we had the jab because it would have been far worse without it. Lots of Tennis on TV and pootling whilst we are in recovery mode.

Cleaners here this morning and I shall do the ironing.

DD2 is 43 today - she says she feels very old!!! Poor thing.

My daughter’s birthday too kitty 38, I took her out for dinner last night, just the two of us, we’re going to try and do it monthly.
Library today, two presents to wrap for friends, July is a busy birthday month for me.

Good morning from a chilly wet Suffolk. I’ve just dug out my warm winter dressing gown before coming downstairs and we had the heating on last evening.

Off to my keep fit class shortly and then coffee with 3 others from the group before returning home to a peaceful afternoon of finishing my book on Sutton Hoo. I’ve found it interesting in parts but too detailed for me with all the archeological explanations.

Hoping today is a good one for all,in spite of this unseasonal weather.

NanKate my brother and wife have just recovered from Covid. Was almost 3 weeks before they felt well, brother was particularly unwell, but they didn't have the Spring Booster as they are under 75.
