Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is up in South Yorkshire and I shall take advantage of it and go for a run in the car and a walk. Mick I hope you get your TV signal sorted out soon. DD, SiL and GS came yesterday for a roast dinner. SiL was full of cold - everyone seems to be at the moment - and eschewed his favourite dessert. Unheard of. The talk was all of university open days and the Grand Prix.
Have the best day you can folks and to those travelling, travel safe.

Grandmabatty Mon 08-Jul-24 05:58:33

Good morning Mick and others from Polmont where it's currently a very chilly 6° but beautifully sunny. I hope you get your tv signal sorted. I hope Marydoll is ok as I don't think she posted yesterday. I also hope Ash had a smooth crossing.
Yesterday I felt a bit livelier and made apricot jam and pottered about the house. I made boeuf bourguinone in the slow cooker and had some for dinner. I've kept enough for tonight and tomorrow and froze the rest. I still haven't done the ironing!
Today is early childcare day. Bellasnana I hope the boys get on ok at nursery. We are probably going to be in the garden as it's to be a nice day. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset, a lot more rain expected here for most of the day, no sun and it will feel autumnal

I swapped and changed several times yesterday, warm top to cool top and vice versa . There was so much rain yesterday, properly torrential at times so I decided to sew the dress I had cut out, indie and retro and I had seen the exact same hand made in a shop in Frome for over £200. This will be the 5th I have hand-made over more than a decade. I will then have two hanging in my wardrobe, one already made in heavy printed linen and this one for everyday, in cotton poplin. Last one was in quilting cotton, regularly worn as a day dress for two years

I have a parcel collection today and bearing in mind that it will rain all day, I will sew, read and maybe even batch cook some needed freezer ready-meals

Have a good day

Good morning from a sunny Bristol. The weather is reversing; yesterday was sopping in the morning, then dry in the afternoon…. Temperatures are sadly still struggling to get to the mid teens.
I had a quiet day yesterday. After the service, the vicar collared me. He is trying very hard to involve me hugely into the church’s work. This time, he wants me to be head coordinator for a “later life” thingy. It will involve b
Keeping about six local charities together, they want to use other redundant church office as a safe space for demented people, where various chat can take place, meetings, assistance offered, etc.. I reluctantly accepted but with the caveat that, if I found it too difficult, I could resign. I’m a doer not an organiser, I’m not good at diplomacy.
Today, toddlers’ last meeting for the academic year, then just a quiet afternoon.
I hope Ash has had a good crossing, that the day will be gentle with you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Bright and dry so far.
My American cousin who visits at this time each year said she can't remember such a cold July.
I lit the fire yesterday though I refused to put the heating on.

The roofer appeared in the middle of a morning downpour and he hopes he's found yet another place where the rain is getting in.

I took my cousin to a df's garden party where we had long chats often about politics and leaky rooves and ate lots of strawberries.

Today I'm determined to do very little. I'm sending my cousin into Edinburgh.

Be careful grandMattie. Only agree to what you are comfortable with.

Hoping everyone gas a peaceful day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 08-Jul-24 06:56:16

Morning all from a grey and dull Devon!

Whatever the weather we are going to Dartmouth today for a fish lunch and a boat trip!

Have a good day - where is the blue sky and sunshine? It’s supposed to be July!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jul-24 06:56:38

Morning Mick and all 🙋‍♀️

I have been awake since 4.30, started reading a new book hoping I would get back to sleep, didn’t work.

The sky is blue which lifts my mood.

Have a good day everyone 🙋‍♀️

GrannySomerset Mon 08-Jul-24 07:01:10

Grey skies and a depressing forecast so must decide what to wear as I am out with two WI friends for coffee and a natter, both of which will be welcome. Feels distinctly chilly so summer has not yet returned.

Bellasnana Mon 08-Jul-24 07:06:45

Good morning from Malta where we are going to have a very hot day, 37°C.

Yesterday morning I had just got out of the shower when I heard little voices and there were the boys with their mum! A lovely surprise to spend a couple of hours with them before Mass.

My friend in Leicester spent the day in A&E yesterday with bad stomach pains so our chat has been postponed till today.

Grandmabatty I hope you have a good day with your boys. Thank you for remembering ours start nursery today. I’ve been awake and anxious since 4am.

I’ve got someone coming to put window film on my patio doors. I’m hoping it will keep the heat out and also that I won’t need a net curtain to keep nosey Parker’s from gazing in!😂

After they’ve been I need to go shopping plus call to see how the boys got on.

Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Marydoll Mon 08-Jul-24 07:18:00

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

GM, unfortunately the more you do, the more you are asked to do. I know from experience, clergy can be very persistent and persuasive, but one can politely say NO.

Gramaretto, I hope the leak is sorted.

DH is golfing and I am looking forward to my empty. I'm struggling to do much at the moment, feeling constantly unwell, a bit low and finding it difficult to be upbeat and positive. A good talking to and acceptance is required! The talking bit I can do, I'm good at that!!

Enjoy your day folks and my very best wishes for all, who are struggling and unwell.

RosesandLilac Mon 08-Jul-24 07:18:42

Good morning, the sun’s shining here at the moment in south Glos but clouds are building up.
Yesterday was heavy showers until late afternoon when the sun came out.
I finished crocheting my blanket and started another, my dd wants one too. She was unwell yesterday evening so stayed another night, hopefully she’ll be better this morning.
Off to lunch with friends today, somewhere new for me.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

Gala Mon 08-Jul-24 07:24:06

Good morning all. Blue skies & sunshine here in Sefton this morning🌞& some warmth is forecast. I feel better already.😃
Singing this morning & hoping to get out into the garden this afternoon. Will now get up, put some washing on & get it out on the line before singing. Have to take full advantage of what looks to be a lovely day. Sorry lfll - must be our turn for the blue skies & sunshine today.

kittylester Mon 08-Jul-24 07:25:12

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire. Again we have rain in the forecast.

I will pootle and faff this morning (I am really good at that!) and this afternoon help on the current carers' course. The carers are looking after People Living with a Dementia of some sort. The carers gain an awful lot both on the course and from meeting other people in a similar situation or so they tell us.

kittylester Mon 08-Jul-24 07:29:48

Gramaretto, you have my sympathy with your leaky roof.

We have, at long last, found reliable roof men and (fingers crossed) we haven't had a leak for a good while. I hope your chap solves your issue.

Taichinan Mon 08-Jul-24 07:35:19

Good morning Mick and all from blue skies and sunshine on the Angus coast. A beautiful September day!
Yesterday I announced I had a cold. Today I shall announce I have Covid! I don't feel particularly bad, but not particularly good either. As someone who is never ill I find it somewhat discombobulating. I have deferred the royal visit from my great-grandson next weekend sadly.
Thinking of your little grandsons today, Bellasnana and hoping they enjoy this giant step forward in their little lives.
Karma and grandmattie your industriousness (is that even a word?) is mind-boggling! I wish I had half your energy.
Right, my brain feels like it's in mothballs, so have a good day everyone x

NanKate Mon 08-Jul-24 07:36:05

Morning Mick and All from a sunny South Bucks, rain is expected.

I’ve noticed a damp patch Kitty by our front door 😏

Visiting a member of our WI today who is recently out of hospital, one of her son’s died recently, it’s so sad. I hope I can cheer her up a bit. I’m taking her two walnut whips to remind her of her childhood. 🍫

grandMattie Mon 08-Jul-24 07:41:00

MD, I thought of you last night with the first episode of “the Turkish detective”! We haven’t heard of your more recent news of your fave tv programmes… 🤣

monk08 Mon 08-Jul-24 07:42:25

Good morning all from lovely blue skies here in the Black country long may they last.
Yesterday afternoon was non stop rain torrential at times.
Glancing at the calendar this morning I see I have an early dental appointment completely forgot about it, so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Have a good day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️,

grandMattie Mon 08-Jul-24 07:44:02

So sorry about”your”COVID, Taichi. My upstairs neighbour has just come out of isolation. She coughed for one night and has felt under the weather for a week before being negative. Hope your infection is as short lived. X

brook2704 Mon 08-Jul-24 07:47:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy, hope it stays dry for a while so I can get some washing dried.
Hoping the boys enjoy their first day at nursery Bellasnanna the start of a new chapter
We’re having our smart meter changed today, it’s given up sending readings altogether, fingers crossed the changeover is troublefree and no problems with the bills in the future
Hope you feel a bit better soon marydoll ❤️
Grammaretto let’s hope this time the roof is eventually sorted!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Mon 08-Jul-24 07:51:35

brook, take a photo of the latest reading.
A year and three meters later,( we now have a non smart reader) we are still struggling to get accurate bills, Thank goodness Mr MD is very rigorous at keeping records.
Our latest estimate is still based on faulty readings from last year.😡

Ashcombe Mon 08-Jul-24 07:53:08

Good morning from an overcast Portsmouth, where we’ve just woken up! Late for us.

Yes, thank you, Grandmabatty and grandMattie, a smooth crossing in terms of the sea conditions but, yet again, we found the “entertainment” tiresome. On boarding, we had settled down in the bar to enjoy a Chardonnay when it began. I know Brittany Ferries needs to appeal to a broad market but the majority of travellers were our age and it was obvious from how people departed that it didn’t suit them. It wasn’t so much the disco music but the tinny quality of the reproduction through the speakers!

Yes, I sound like a grumpy old lady! Luckily, we could retire to the peaceful environment of our cabin! DH was pleased to see some of the Grand Prix via my phone, whilst we were still within range of a signal. A great result!

I hope today is the start of a good week for all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

luluaugust Mon 08-Jul-24 07:58:30

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. I hope it gets a bit warmer after the torrential rain yesterday. DGS3 helped DH move loads of boxes, unfortunately out of his study onto the landing and apparently these are all going to be sorted out in a week!! before the arrival of DD1 and DGS4, we shall see , we then took DGS out for a good lunch.
Cleaning lady this morning and then we shall see, we really haven’t recovered from Covid very quickly this time. Taichinan I hope you are luckier.
Best wishes to all

Liberty Mon 08-Jul-24 08:00:26

Good morning from blue skies in Suffolk where sunshine is forecast for the day. We’ll see after rain for the later part of the day yesterday and evening.

I’m off to meet a friend at the beach later for a walk and lunch at the cafe,or perhaps the pub there. We usually meet up every 2-3 weeks and she’s off on holiday this week with her family for a couple of weeks so lots to talk about today.

DGD2 in the air now halfway to South Africa. We had photos from Heathrow of a very excited group of girls last night. I bet little sleep for them at least.

Hope today is a good one for all.
