Anywhere you would have liked to visit? Anywhere not ?

Round the world cruise? I would love to do a round-the-world cruise but am worried about rough seas and storms. My cousin spent a week in her cabin when she did a cruise to Norway in December. What sort of medical support do they have if things go wrong? Aren't I a worrier?

I lived for a long time in Italy and have explored it quite extensively but would always go back if the opportunity arose. Otherwise I'd like to visit the USA, especially the deep south as my mother had ancestral roots there. I'd also like to visit Ukraine at some point as my paternal great grandmother hailed from there.

I've never had a desire to visit Africa, Australia or any Scandinavian countries and I would not revisit Malta.

Maggiemaybe I did that trip on Via Rail in the 80’s, Toronto to Vancouver, loved every minute of it, we had a week in Toronto first, then ten days in Vancouver.
I’ve been fortunate and travelled widely, a lot through work, often tacking a short holiday onto the end of the work.
No desire for foreign travel now, we’ve been exploring the UK and Ireland.

Never had any desire to see South America, or USA (but have been to Las Vegas). But always wanted to travel in the Middle East and visit Hong Kong. Have been lucky enough to live in Middle East and have been to Egypt and Israel and travelled through Russia by train (amazing) and been to HK twice. Visited lots of European countries but would love to get to Antarctica and walk the Camino de Santiago. Not likely now I’m in my 80s!

Yes I agree Maggiemaybe, that journey was monotonous, not the scenery in Canada per se, which is spectacular.

Like you I also like sleeper trains, we did Paris to Verona a few years ago. The best one we did Amtrak New York to Savannah saw a lot of scenery on that journey before nightfall. American trains the carriages so high up and the noises and whistles very different from here, loved it.

Why do you think it’s too late? I’ve been a couple of times since China took over and whilst I very much preferred it before the handback it is very safe and if you didn’t know it before then you might enjoy it.

I was just 15 when the Aberfan disaster happened. My family had recently moved to the North East of England from Cardiff. We were so shocked by the terrible disaster, especially the loss of so many Primary school children.

I have always wanted to pay my respects in the cemetery there, so next week my daughter is taking me there to complete one of the goals on my bucket list.

I worried that the folk of Aberfan might get sick of people coming to their town, but I looked online to see how they like visitors to the cemetery to behave.

We got The Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff with an overnight stop in Kamloops. It was very slow, got stuck behind a goods train for ages...and we never saw any bears Spectacular scenery for some of the journey, but the journey itself didn't live up to my expectations.

We had several overnight stops which I really enjoyed on our Rocky Mountaineer trip, TerriBull, but I found the scenery a bit monotonous after a while (I know that sounds very spoilt) and much preferred the Via Rail journey across Canada that we did first. I love a sleeper train, and it was so exciting to hear the train whistles from far away as we sped along in the night. We were lucky, we saw at least 6 bears close up - well, as close up as I’d want to be! We witnessed idiotic tourists getting out of their cars with their children to move closer to them while locals shouted out warnings.

I have been lucky enough to go on many long haul holidays over the years but one place that I would still like to visit is the Canadian Rockies

I would love to have visited the Galapagos islands but somehow never got around to it. I have a great fondness for reptiles and would love to have seen the iguanas and big tortoises.

I would also have loved to visit Yemen but it was never possible because of civil war. Its one of the few countries in that region I never visited.

Although I loved visiting middle eastern countries I would have never visited Saudi Arabia because of their attituide towards women.

My idea of hell are cruises and all inclusive "family" holidays. Anything organized with crowds of people.

I doubt that I will ever travel again. I hate the way you get treated at airports.

We have had wonderful holidays in North America. New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, Boston, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon and a lot more. Also Canada, Italy and China. Going to Istanbul later this year.
Would like to visit Australia and New Zealand but too far and too expensive.

You you would have to pay me to go to Dubai or South Africa.

I would have loved to go on The Rocky Mountaineer through The Rockies and then take a cruise to Alaska, whale spotting. It'll never happen now. I have never wanted to travel to Asia. Generally it would be too hot and steamy for me. In addition I don't like bugs and have no wish to encounter spiders and snakes in the wild of a hotel room.

I loved Canada. We travelled by various trains from Toronto to Vancouver, with overnight stops in Jasper and Banff, which included travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer. It was an incredible experience and a holiday I would recommend.
We also loved our safari holiday to Botswana.
Up to then, I had only holidayed abroad in France and Spain.
We’ve also had wonderful holidays in Scotland and Switzerland. My daughter and son in law have recently been to Krakow, Poland for a short break, so I’m thinking of going next year. Long flights no longer appeal to me, but I do enjoy train journeys.
I have no desire to visit Dubai or America.

That is your great loss. South Africa is a beautiful, welcoming country of many different climes and vistas. The people and food are wonderful too.

I have not been abroad very often. Partly through choice.

I half fancy going to the Carribean. But concerned it would be like some of the nicer beaches in the Uk, so not worth it.

I did used to want to go to Iceland.
But seen enough programmes now about it, that I am not bothered now.

norway is lovely ,forests, hills,lakes that go on and on!My DIL is canadian, last year i visited, i found it a vast place ,lots of same views, my dil who lives here prefer the uk scenery, go figure.

i have never been abroad but i always wanted to visit the pyramids, they have amazed me since i was a child, the problem i have is i don't like the heat, even in the uk summer....well scotland, i stay in when i can during the summer, but on the plus side i don't use any heating in the winter.

I spent a month in Leningrad in 1973 as part of my college languages course. An amazing experience that I feel so lucky to have had. Then we had 2 days in St Petersburg as part of a Baltic cruise in late 2019. Again we were very fortunate as it wouldn’t be possible now. The changes in the city and its culture were immense. Our guide for the two days was a lovely young student who was very bold when making fun of Putin. I do hope she’s okay.

Did you do that trip to Leningrad with the school? I did it with my school in 1966 via Berlin , Moscow, Leningrad, Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen arriving home the day we win the World Cup. I was 15 !
A place I want to visit is Argentina to dance the tango plus go across Canada by train.

I have not been able to travel very much in this life because of my own and my daughter's ill health. She was bedridden for twelve years and I only had two weekends away during these years, near to our home in London. There are many places I would like to have seen and I feel envious. But I also accept.

My daughter got a little better and has been able to have short holidays in Europe with her very supportive partner, with help for the disabled traveller and resting a lot. To see her do that is a joy I never thought to have.

We have also been able to relocate to my home in Scotland and we have had short local holidays here. It is such a joy to see the sea and the hills after so many years never seeing either.

For those who may not have traveled much for any reason, and be reading this thread, I think seeing less can mean you enjoy what you can see more.

I'd like to visit Northern Scotland. I wouldn't want to go abroad - anywhere.

Please come boheminan but not just now, it’s freezing cold and pouring! I love living here but when I visit England I realise how much I miss it, England that is. I’d love to visit Antarctica, Iceland, Norway. DH doesn’t really want to travel anymore 😢

Have been to parts of USA, parts of Australia
Sort of fancy cruising, but aspects of it deter me, not least the cost

I would've loved to have hired a Winnebago and toured across Canada, to late now though sad but true. I wouldn't want to go to India or any other Asian countries either not that there not beautiful but the unsanitary condtions I just couldn't risk it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'd love to see Scotland again, but it won't happen now.

I've never seen Cumbria, which I would have liked to, and other places in the UK.
Abroad, well, India, Borneo, and the Barcelona, and Lake Garda.

I would never want to go to Las Vegas, or the tourist parts of America, nor Dubai, or anywhere like that.
