Is there anyone out there not interested in the football?

Lucky - I don’t see it as an aggressive game. It’s competitive and skilful. It’s also a team game so it has many positive qualities. The theatre of dreams at Old Trafford regularly has 75,000 people there. Rarely any crowd problems and a fantastic atmosphere, the walk to and from the ground is a joy.

Eh? Kicking is only an aggressive act if the foot/leg comes into contact with an opponent. Footballers aim to kick the ball, not each other.
If kicking were aggressive, then what about a grand battement in ballet, the can can, or Russian folk dancing?

Yup - In know I am in a minority of one!

What about Rugby?
Is that acceptable, Lucky?

Is throwing a ball as in netball, ok?
Or hitting it with an implement?

I'm sure you could argue that about most sports, if you wanted to. Kicking is aggressive? So that rules out rugby too. What about hitting? Surely that could be classed as aggressive as well - so that's tennis, squash, badminton etc. And that's before you even get to things like boxing, wrestling, MMA...

The point of football is that you are trying to keep the ball away from your opponents so aggression doesn't come into the kicking of the ball at all. It takes skilful kicking and manoeuvres to keep it away from them.

The fastest tennis serve was 163 mph, that poor little ball had to have been hit with an implement with some force to achieve that and could possibly kill someone if it hit them.
A player was disqualified last year for hitting a ball in frustration which then struck the umpire.

The football obsession really irks me. The constant discussions before and after a match. Supporters screaming their heads off and why do the all look so angry?
I think there is something hysterical about many people these days. I shall not be watching TV today. Lovely sunny morning here in the south so I shall be outside enjoying it.

I watched the 1966 match with my cousin and her husband. He'd just come back from a work trip to Germany and brought a bottle of Schnapps with him which he poured for us (rather inappropriately). I remember choking on it!

Sweet Caroline is sung due to the apt lyrics some of which are so good, so good, so good

Sweet Caroline possibly because of the lyrics - ‘so good, so good’, Hey Jude is for Jude Bellingham, one of the team.

I think many other people than boozy men sing those two songs.

Sweet Caroline has been sung for many years at sporting events (starting in America) and is the unofficial anthem of the England football team.

Hey Jude is another football anthem dating back over 50 years but very appropriate now.

I can't stand footie or anything to do with it.

I understand that some people love it and I don't have any problem with that, each to their own but absolutely everything about it bores me to death!

Thankfully my hubby can't tolerate it either!

Saw this the other day- a footy song for vegans?

Can't stand football and don't care if England win or lose. Luckily I've been off work when the knockout stages of the Euros have been played, but as the majority of staff in the office are women with no interest in football, it's a blessing when I go back tomorrow. Tonight I shall be listening to Classic FM and watching Youtube videos will this boring match is on.

Not for me. Reading whilst listening to Jazz Cafe on you tube.

No interest in any sport but I don’t have any trouble ignoring it, maybe because I haven’t got a television. It was only today that I heard tonight’s final is against Spain.

Four of us. Thank goodness we have no television at the moment!!!
