Glad you can see the benefits of the nursery attendance on the twins Bellasnana. They'll grow up so quickly now.
Now I must go and prepare myself to watch Alcaraz (sp?) win Wimbledon 🤞but I have no interest in football in any shape or form. I must say I'm getting increasingly fed up paying the BBC so that I can watch ancient 'repeats' on other channels!!

Feeling out of sorts today, but it's good to read of everyone's doings and dones. I've heard of the Dunmow Glitch - good to know these traditions still go on Grannyme.
What a kind DD and SIL you have karma. You must feel very proud of her.
Love the story of the sewing machine which went off to Africa, complete with brightly coloured threads (but daren't go back to remind myself who posted that or I'll lose what I've written!)

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It isn't raining! Possibly 🌞

I shall drive my Cousin to the airport this morning. She has endured the wettest fortnight ever. Yesterday we sat and knitted and watched the Wimbledon finals on TV with the heating on. We went out for an Italian meal last night.

My kiln has been fixed but not the roof. I even sent the electrician up to the attic to see if he could see any holes!

Now my lodger's washing machine is on the blink. I seem to go from one disaster to another, seamlessly.
No set plans today. Housework needs doing. 🎾 and ⚽️

Good morning from a dry and bright Oxfordshire, however clouds are building.

Not sure what to do first today, MzOops will be back from up North, MissOops will be coming back with the dog and GS will be back home late tomorrow night, no birthday cakes needed, as it will be too late tomorrow night to eat anything, but I might bake something for them to take home early Tuesday morning. Or should I wait and do it tomorrow?

Plus I need to sort the bed situation out and washing will have to be done.

Ash you’ve reminded me to check my ‘pipes and plumbing’ insurance, our mains water pipe enters our property about 80feet away from our indoor stopcock and our actual mains water pipe comes in from another road about 100 yards away across other gardens, a nightmare if we have a leak, hence the Insurance. Have you any Home Insurance that might cover you?

It’s my son’s mother in law’s birthday today , she is 80 so there is an open house party all afternoon . As she is chair bound it’s the best option , it will be nice to catch up
Marydoll I have a plum tree in a pot , bought via the radio times , it’s flourishing and in full leaf but no blossom and therefore no fruit , it might bite the dust if nothing happens next year

GG, ours used to do the same. It drove me mad.

However in Scotland all homes must now have them connected to mains electricity. They are wireless and talk to each other. No more night time beeps!
The added bonus is that the one in the hall is no longer triggered by cooking bacon!

Good morning everyone.

Why do the batteries in smoke detectors always run out in the middle of the night and why does DH not hear them? At 2.25am I heard the ominous beep I turned over hoping I imagined it, but nope there it was again! So I got up turned on the hall lights and waited, climbed on chair took down smoke detector, removed batteries went make to bed. Then beep up I get take down another one, repeat, start to return to bedroom, beep repeat again…

Third time lucky 👍🏻

DH remained asked and oblivious, was surprised to find three smoke detectors on landing floor ?

Morning from a sunny S Hants, I was reading about that yesterday Grannyme6 fascinating.
Still a shock Ashcombe but good it is getting sorted.
Yesterday I pottered as MrJ played golf, weeding done and washing, most of the newspaper read.
Today will be a quick walk this morning, then tennis, meat draw in the local, easy f&c for dinner and ⚽️.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
I have had another night of terrors, dreaming of people I know. It was so real and has left me rather unsettled.
I know my injections are to blame, but I need to persevere until my body gets used to the medication.

I plan to potter in the garden, but first I must tidy the spare room. A few weeks ago, I emptied the wardrobe and couldn't find the energy to put everything back. How on earth did I managed to accumulate so many dresses?

I have a question for Mizuna. The twigs are flourishing, the apple and pear trees have fruit, but the plum has produced nothing so far. How are yours doing?

A day of playing with the new robot vacuum cleaner has been planned by DH. I just can't wait! 😉
He has requested a dish for dinner, which we first had when we stayed in the Royal Scots College in Salamanca. It was so delicious, that my friend and I went into the kitchen to ask for the recipe. The cook went into the bin and produced an empty bag, which had held McCain's cubed potatoes. We thought she has spent hours in the kitchen preparing it. 🤣
It takes five minutes to prepare, then in the oven to cook. An easy meal.

I hope hollysteers feels a bit better.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton; a fine day is forecast, but heavy rain tomorrow, so I think one of my jobs today will be grass-cutting. Not that I want to do it, but a case of needs must.

I had a lovely day out shopping at Rushden Lakes yesterday. Spent one of my M&S vouchers, but nothing else took my fancy. Also took the plunge and bought a top from Next that I have been looking at for ages. Don't really need it but it is very pretty.. Also had a good Italian lunch of pasta plus wine!

Bacon butty for brunch, steak for dinner with gardening in between.

Wondering how DD and her DH got on at the Kylie concert in Hyde Park last night. DD has been a Kylie fan ever since we lived in Australia and watched Neighbours religiously - back when DD was about 7/8 years old! She is now in her 40s...

Good morning from a grey and damp Lincolnshire yet again.
DIL and three teenagers went to Skegness yesterday while DS did a long walk.
I made myself comfortable with a pot of coffee and a novel.
DIL and GD2 are catching the train from Newark to London to go to a concert in Hyde park, they will be staying overnight.
GD1 and BF are having a cream tea on a steam train trip, DS and I might go for the trip but not the tea.
My sister and BIL travelled to Northumberland yesterday and she said it rained all the way.
I have never had such poor weather on holiday.
I hope some of you have some 🌞 today.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and dry. Karma your DD is a good samaritan.
Yesterday I met up with a friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. We had a good blether but didn't stay for too long as she is still recovering from the effects of covid. In the afternoon I spent a couple of hours in the garden pruning overgrown stuff. A saw was wielded with great results!
I woke for a couple of hours in the night so I'm not sure how much I'll do today. I definitely need a trip to Aldi as I'm out of most things. I'll make lime curd if Aldi have a couple of necessary ingredients. Later I'll visit mum. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where the forecast is ok for the rest of the day.

I returned home from Bradford yesterday after visiting my sister in hospital where she was her usual positive and cheerful self in spite of very serious health issues and being in considerable pain.

The city centre is in chaos and it is being pedestrianised and inaccessible by vehicles and partly by foot. In 2025 it is the City of Culture! I was told by several friendly people I spoke to that businesses in the city centre are struggling and some have closed. Hardly seems the way forward to attract visitors next year.

Looking forward to a quiet day at home with DH and little dog after the usual morning walk. Hope today is a good one for all.

Enjoyed an amusing evening at the Dunmow Flitch Trials where married couples testify they haven’t regretted being married over the past year and a day. If the ‘jury’ of 6 batchelors and six maidens find for the couple, they’re awarded a flitch (side) of bacon. It’s an ancient tradition going back 900 years. All very amusing and unique.
Quiet day today watching Wimbledon and dipping in and out of the football.

Good morning from an overcast & dull Sefton. 'A grey and damp day ' is the official Met Office forecast. Oh joy! It was 'damp' in town yesterday but we managed to avoid getting wet by using over head cover & having lunch during a very wet moment. As we got off the train later I was delighted to see no evidence of 'damp' & arrived home to find a line full of dry washing. 😀
A mostly do nothing day today. There are papers to read & possibly a visit to some local private gardens which are open for a charity. Pork chops & salad for tea.

After getting my prescription yesterday I went to the nearest garden centre. I resisted looking at the plants as my back was aching. I got the plant supports I wanted but not the aquatic compost.

I’ve a load of washing to do, tidy round the rooms and then I am going to finish my dress. There’s just the hem to do.
