Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton! Have just whipped the sheets etc off the bed and they are in the machine. Have also just put 5 portions of Bolognese in the freezer, made in the slow cooker yesterday - it was delicious!

The rain had cleared up by yesterday afternoon and I was able to join the walking group, and managed three miles, despite a very overgrown footpath. Enjoyed coffee and home-made cake afterwards.

Sadly our planned ladies' wine club will not be going ahead this evening; our hostess has just messaged everyone to say she is sitting in A&E (and has been all night) with possibly an inflamed gall bladder, so she has cancelled; she is waiting to see a surgeon at the moment. Hoping she feels better soon.

So now I have no plans for today, so think I will have an afternoon sitting in the garden reading.

Beautiful morning to lift the spirits. Last singing session till September this afternoon and I must embark on a bit of a tidy up before the family arrives at the weekend. How do I manage to have stuff in every bedroom when there is only me in the house? It’s a mystery. Must make the most of the couple of nicer days before the rain returns so some outside pottering will be needed too. Hope the day is kind to everyone.

I've had my two sons and my granddaughter here for the weekend, my birthday treat. We seem to have spent the days stuffing ourselves in pubs and restaurants! One had such superb meat pies that surplus ones were begged from the kitchen to take home. They made a good accompaniment to the footie in the evening along with all the beer we'd laid in.
They all departed Monday and Tuesday and now I shall be tackling a mountain of bedding and towels, it's a great day for getting them dry.
Later, I hope to be planting out in the garden. We did manage to fit in a garden centre and, amongst other items, I bought a tray of runner beans to replace the ones destroyed by the slugs.

I forgot to say in my earlier post that it’s The Imp’s last day at pre-school today, I cannot believe that he is off to big school in September as is his cousin (DS4’s youngest)

I am a little bit sad, and excited at the same time for them both, a new era, all GC at school or college now here in the UK from September 😢

Good morning all and the sun is shining here at the Suffolk coast.
It’s dgd1’s 22nd birthday today and she’s meeting her dad in London for the day.

Yesterday was good. Our new bed arrived early and was delivered by a young husband and wife team . They were delightful, smiley and speedy.
As we looked out a little later, there stood our situpon mower all repaired and ready . Hoorah!

Our friends came late afternoon for tea and cake and we sat in the summerhouse as we had a few mini showers.

Today we’ll shop and our other friends are coming for a meal this evening. Something simple ! It’s nice to have visitors while we’re here.

Bellasnanna I wouldn’t be able to cope in that heat. I expect you’re used to it and know how to deal with it, but I think I’d shrivel up and die. Take care.

Good morning from an overcast Oxfordshire.

It was such a busy morning yesterday that I didn’t manage to post, beds to be changed, laundry to be done and a general tidy up and I got my car back from the garage at last, the owner went on holiday so it had to stay there until he returned.

Hair dresser today, then a pile of ironing to do.

GS had a great time in Beijing and found the part of the country that they were in very interesting, especially the trip to the Great Wall, his days out were interrupted by (very polite) Chinese people and children asking his name, where he came from and asking for a ‘selfie’ he’s 6ft 4 and has very blonde wavy hair and as most of them were tourists to Beijing themselves they hadn’t seen anyone like him before.
He soon got use to it, the Chinese students that he was with thought it was hilarious. He brought all of us back some gifts which was sweet of him.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where is is 15°C.

Good news about your scan Mick. I think you will find it is standard practice to have regular scans and monitoring, after your recent illness. Your team seem to be really on the ball.

Yesterday, I went into Glasgow to get my Swatch watch battery repaired. I usually change watch batteries myself, but this one was tiny and fiddly and I couldn't source one anyway.
The lovely assistant cleaned the scratched face and replaced the battery for free. Outstanding service and I have a new watch.

I had a wander around JL and Buchanan Galleries and that was my lot. I think I managed four shops! When I was young and fit, I could cover dozens of shops and not be in the least bit tired. Now, I have to have I frequent rests.
Realising, I was struggling, (and foolishly having overdone things) I decided to return home. On the way back down the hill, I passed H&M. I hesitated, then decided to go in.
Much to my delight, they had a lovely homeware department, I had no idea they had one.
For months I have been searching for a certain household item, to no avail. I found it at half price, with an additional 15% off!

Glasgow was buzzing, with lots of tourists, I love trying to identify the various nationalities. However, I have to be careful in crowds and found it was far too busy for me.
I arrived at the station to find there was a temporary timetable and no train for ages. After a wee rest, I went out to the baker's beside the station and treated myself to a large Strawberry Danish party and a rhubarb tart for DH.
DH didn't deserve a treat. I asked if he would like to come and we could go for lunch, but he declined, saying he preferred wanted to play with his new robot vacuum cleaner!
Dumped for a robot! 🤣

After lunch, I sat down in the Conservatory to replenish my batteries. I woke up ninety minutes later!

Baubles, Dollie and her parents had a very enjoyable time at the pre Open activities on Sunday. However, DS said the had to use Park and Ride at Loans.
Dollie at eight years old, experienced being on the top deck of a bus, for the first time in her life. She had a ball.
Many years ago, we lived in Troon. I hated the crowds, increased prices in shops and no parking, when there was a golf event!

I will potter today, but will go to Mass first. I have deliberately been missing in action, my parish duties were taking over my life, but I have some jobs to do.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it has clouded over after early sunshine but reasonable temperature forecast (not 42 or even 24) Bellasnana!

A lovely blethery morning with my fellow gransnetter yesterday and the purchase of proper walking ‘trainers’ half price in the sale in Timberland.
Since giving up driving I am doing so much walking that my old feet are telling me they need better support so hopefully these will help.

DD and family enjoyed their holiday in France and as child care arrangements for next week have fallen through 11year old DGD5 is coming to me Sunday till Wednesday next week, I am so pleased, she is a lovely girl.

Another picture (hopefully) for grandMattie, a beautiful quilt hanging in a new coffee shop I visited last week on the road to Moffat, just before the ‘Devil’s Beef Tub’.

Good morning Mick. Good to hear that your health has picked up. Also good to hear that the weather is picking up round the country - sunshine makes such a difference to everything, doesn't it. Mind you 42° is a bit much Bellasnana!
The mist has lifted at last here on the Angus coast and I'm sitting in a shaft of sunlight at the moment. I'm off to get my hair cut this morning, having had to put my appointment off when I had covid last week. Boy! Has it grown in the intervening week! I think covid must come with some sort of hair growth serum 😂. Let's just say I shall be so glad to get it cut.
Apart from that, nothing much to report. Enjoy your trip out today WonderWoman Mizuna. Freedom at last!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Sunny and dry, possibly warm.
DS and Co fly back to NZ today but I have already waved them off. It was wonderful getting to know my DGS for a reasonable length of time.

I shall be minding the pottery exhibition today so plenty to distract me. Its an hour's drive away and Baubles has just reminded me the Open is on so the roads will be busy. I had better get going.

Good morning from a wonderful blue sky and sunny Suffolk. We are promised 2 more days of this which I shall enjoy mainly in the garden.

Off to my keep fit class soon and apart from a Teams meeting for a couple of hours mid afternoon the day is mine. We tend not to go anywhere when the weather is so lovely because of the traffic and crowds given this part of Suffolk is a very popular holiday spot.

Luckily we have a large and restful garden largely in a natural state with a natural pond and a large number of huge trees.

I hope that all have an easy and peaceful day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and sunny. Ash what a nuisance for you! Maybe the hospital can give you alternative exercises. Bellasnana that sounds extremely hot! I wouldn't do well.
Yesterday was another good day with the boys. Dgs1 loves his running class at the stadium and to his delight, another wee pal joined yesterday so the three amigos were together. When I took him home, there was a terrific cloudburst. Dgs1 happily got out the car and ran up the path in the teeming rain laughing and shouting with glee. Dgs2 was not a happy boy and wanted to be dry. The difference between brothers. We had a good afternoon. Dgs2 slept for nearly three hours while dgs1 and I built up a small Lego kit.
Today I must sort out car stuff. Apart from that, I have no plans. Have a good day all.

We had friends here for a bbq last night, just about ok to sit out, it was a lovely few hours.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. Slept very well last night. Very good to hear your health is improving Mick. GS rang for a chat last night. He said he has packed for his holiday. His mum chimed up from the background “He means he’s put three tee shirts in a case!” Long way to go then! Laundry this morning and then our monthly librarian-led writers group this afternoon. Not sure what the turnout will be. Then I’ll come home and cut the front lawn. I’m leaving the back for a while because I’ll be looking after GS’s Guinea pig while they’re away and he’ll need somewhere to graze🙄! He’d better be hungry!

Good morning from a bright W Kent. We are hoping to get to a local garden today with DD1 and family, although DSIL may wish to return to Bluewater for more shopping. We shall see.

Morning all from Helsinki.

We had a lovely day yesterday. It was warm and we had not one, but two boat trips. I bought my daughter a very belated birthday lunch which included lots of fish. Later on, back in the hotel bar she had a vodka and dill cocktail which she said was delicious.

Today seems to be windy and wet. I think we’ll look around Helsinki.

Good morning from Lincolnshire where there is a strange light in the sky which is shining on my bedroom window.
Yesterday DIL, GD2 and I went to Ruckland church, smallest church in the county, where GD played the organ. There is a sign inviting musicians to play the organ as it helps keep the bellows working.
In the afternoon we went to the cinema to see Inside out 2 which was quite entertaining.
We went to a cafe/bar after and had refreshments, we sat and GD scanned QR code on menu, ordered drinks and paid for them with her phone and 10 minutes later they were brought to the table. First interaction we had with a waiter.
A little later we went to an American diner for dinner, I opted for scampi as the steaks and burgers looked enormous.
DS was getting annoyed about a table of young men who were singing and swearing a lot so he brought GD and I home and left the older teenagers with DIL.
Today we are visiting Gunby Hall and Gardens and this evening we are eating at a Tapas restaurant. I am hoping it remains dry so that I might get to wear sandals.
