Lived abroad quite a lot, so my tips for cooler night. find out that old hot water bottle and fill with very cold water and put a couple of ice cubes in it. then you can rest your feet on it, which is lovely and cooling. No hot water bottle left? then get those little blue freezer packs for lunch boxes, wrap in towel and do the same with that. before you go to bed put cold or very cool water in a basin or bowl and rest hands and up to wrists in it for a while. Then pat dry and off to bed. Get clean flannel, put in very cold water, squeeze out gently and put into a plastic bag and again on a blue freezer pack beside your bed. Then when needed take out of bag and put across your forehead and close your eyes. . Shut curtains early in the day and when weather cools (if it does!) open windows and slightly open curtains so that you get the breeze through cold water or fruitjuice that has been in the fridge , put into thermos flask and put by the bed so that when you are awake and thirsty you can have cool drink. Do have a very thin sheet over you, as it will stop wretched flies landing on you and also gives you the more usual sense of a covering if that is what you are used to doing.if the evening cools down take a stroll round the garden just before you go to bed so that you are already cooling down , or put a chair outside and sit in the cool and let yourself calm and cool down. Hope these are some ideas that might help
I echo all of that PLUS I would add that if your bedroom has been in the sun all day, to also open a window in another room, on the side of the house that hasn't had the sun on it during the day. The air from the cooler side will rush into your bedroom to replace the warmer air which is rising away from your own bedroom window.
Or you can get small electric fans quite cheaply - station one of those near your bedroom door where it can pick up air and send it towards you. If you stand a clothes horse behind it, loaded with wet towels, they will cool the air for it to collect. You have to be imaginative to win!
