Yesterday I was talking to the visiting elderly French mother of a close friend of a dd - we were at a fairly riotous outdoor b-day party of Gds.

We were v lucky with the weather, not too hot, just right. The mother has lived in Provence for over 40 years and told me the summers are now so hot, she hardly goes out of doors all summer long. She added that the best place for a summer holiday is Ecosse! (Scotland - her son in law is a Scot so she was speaking from experience!)

Lovely summer memories of Scotland 2019.

OMG. Just been into town for prearranged ladies lunch. The tourists have multiplied so much it was like trying to walk through a football crowd just to walk along the road. Edinburgh city centre is not only crowded but absolutely packed out.
There's been a huge increase in the number of tourists coming. If you want to see Edinburgh come in February. You won't see much right now just thousands of other people.

I was at a concert late last night in Old st Paul's. It was pre festival and so late 10pm start, that we even managed to park outside the church.

But I agree with you Aveline and try to avoid the centre in August.

Even the taxi drivers are complaining

I used to hate battling my way through the crowds at festival time, especially when our office was down near Holyrood. However, as we have tickets for a few fringe shows, we'll be adding to those crowds over the next couple of weeks...

Wear a helmet and sharp elbows!
